Why are these laptops still NOT FHD?
    Do they think we're stupid?

    • Does it matter with a 15" laptop? I'm not in the habit of watching movies & tv shows on a laptop anyway.

It's not so much of an issue with movies, but 1080 gives you a lot more desktop real estate to work with

        • exactly!

I have one connected to a 1080p external display, but I agree notebook screens in 2016 should be 1080p minimum.

    • Agreed. For laptops greater than $500 at least

  • And no usb 2.0 and vga port anymore please.

  • You get what you pay for.

  • Can u upgrade the ram and hdd in this?

    • Yes but tricky to take apart ……Google it …..more than just remove screws and a panel.

  • Extra 5%off as well with code

    • What code? I'll update the OP.

      edit found it, updated.

  • Sorry - I used a referral link

Better deals on Amazon using a freight forwarder - HP for USD$419.99 with full HD. Look at Techbargains for your laptops - they are so much cheaper than AUD

    • Might be a cheaper deal, but still AU$558.80 and how much extra for shipping? Warranty?

      • Shipping is around AUD$115.

Warranty - there's a reason I don't buy Acer! I brought one for the wife which was a good JB deal - ES-411 which I put 8Gb of RAM and SSD into. I've put in 2 PCI-E cards from different vendors as the wifi is garbage - its not the wifi card thats the issue, its the location of the antennas. I even brought new antennas. The only thing that fixes the WIFI correctly is a $9 USB dongle.

But if there's something wrong with the laptop, then it's going to be a big hassle to sort out.

Asus has global warranty from memory (used to be 2 yr, think only 1 now)… not sure about HP as I haven't brought one since 2005

        • A few months ago when I was overseas and looking to buy a laptop I researched these 'global warranties', and all I found were a lot of unhappy customers. Basically a lot of the global warranties are either BS, or result in you waiting a while to get your issue fixed. Not to mention having the protection of Australian consumer laws is often better than the warranty the manufacturer provides.
