    Plus $200 cashback

    • So $1140.
      Mighty tempting.

      • $1119.06 after Cashback from Cashrewards.com.au

      • $950.51 after TRS + Cashback from Cashrewards.com.au

        • Over $1000 threshold breached?

        • +2

          @eisniwre:

Doesn't matter, as long as invoice has traveller's name on it

        • How long before travelling does it need to be?
          Going overseas on August 29th.

        • @bbourizk: you'll be fine. As long as you travel withing the 60 days from the date you make a purchase

        • @OzSikhs:
          Thanks mate,
          Is there a limit?
Maybe a Nikon D500 could sneak in here…Maybe have it in the wifes name?

        • @TheOneWhoKnocks:
          Thanks mate.

        • @bbourizk:

No worries. Where are you off to?

        • @TheOneWhoKnocks:
Nothing fancy mate. Off to Bali with the wife and young ones.

Reading that link I'm allowed as a family to bring back $3150 worth?.
As a family of 5 2x$900 and 3x$450 pooled together.

          Thanks again.

        • @bbourizk:

It would be best to give them a buzz mate for a more detailed and correct answer. Maybe someone else could shed some light on this?

        • @TheOneWhoKnocks:
I'll try to give them a call tomorrow…I can pick up a D500 at Teds for $2479.20…$3099-20% discount.

In the past the invoice has had the full price on it so if I can claim $300 TRS on it…It comes in under $2200…Which is about $800 cheaper than the standard going price.

        • @matt90:

Won't the OP once returning to australia be clearly seen with the same laptop and just be charged the tax again plus a penalty for claiming the GST refund and trying to bring it back in?

        • @SaberX:

The point of the GST refund at the airport is for tourists. If you're getting your tax back when you fly out and bringing it back in after, that is not right - strictly speaking. That's why its called a TRS (Tourist Refund Scheme).

HOWEVER, most people just get their refund no questions asked, and are not requested to show their items on their return trip back.

Very unlikely that the traveller would be noticed or identified when theyre back.
Most of the time when doing a refund on the flight out, the customs officer dont even ask to look at the item if its below a few thousand.

        • +1

          @SaberX:

I've never once seen anyone questioned or requested to show whether a claimed item was still in their possession upon return to Australia.

I'm sure they know it's happening, but customs have bigger fish to fry.

Thank you for including this link - I kept clicking on "here" in the original listing & wasn't getting anywhere, let alone to the right HP site!

    • Thanks for pointing this out - must have been updated since I posted!

  • this or microsoft surface… hm

    • +1

Of course this one. Surface is crazy expensive over 2000$

      • does this have a pen

        • Seems like not.
From HP site - The Spectre x2 is compatible with active pens using Wacom technology, sold separately.

        • One of the five pictures on eBay is of a HP pen, so seems fairly misleading if it doesn't??

        • +1

According to a comment by another user who bought from a previous Futu Online deal here this version comes with a pen.

    • cnet says this over the SP4.

      • +1

Damn the lower screen resolution turns me off.
Been used to a Macbook retina screen for too long, dont think I could ever go back to anything thats less clear

        • Agreed - that is definitely the main drawback for me too, but all the benchmark scores I've been looking through (trying to ensure I don't end up with an impulse purchase and/or buyer's remorse!) still make a pretty compelling case.

On the surface, the lower res definitely seems a drawback and it would be hard to adjust to if moving from a retina screen, but maybe you just need a new Windows hybrid in your life, can keep your Mac and then have the best of both worlds?!

I also read a fair point elsewhere which was that the lower res should help with avoiding any scaling issues, but it's horses for courses at the end of the day; it all comes back to your personal reasons/use cases for a device. The Spectre is more than likely not the choice of hybrid someone in graphic design would opt for, but for many other professions that require some level of mobility it would have more than enough pixels/grunt etc.

This is an awesome deal …. last time is was $1393 from HN posted a while back, 25 May to be exact! Well done OP on the find!

      That has lower specs.

    • +1

      m5 CPU + 128GB SSD instead of m7 CPU + 512GB SSD

    • +1

I would say that for the extra $52 bucks ($1340 - $1288), it's worth it alone just for the SSD upgrade comparing the officeworks 128GB to the ebay deal of 512GB …

  • With all the recent inbuilt battery models being done by lenovo etc versus the old removable battery style laptops, how does the battery life compare? Rule #1 last time was to never leave the laptop on permanent ac charge with the battery in. Now that the battery isn't removable, for someone who uses their laptop at home 24/7 as opposed to a desktop computer how can you keep the battery going if it's always permanently plugged in to the charger?

    • +1

Legit concern, I had a work Spectre 360 and a personal Lenovo - both have settings where you can leave on AC but the battery isn't charging unless it reaches a threshold, I set mine to charge when the battery reached 10% and stop charging when the battery reaches 90%… Lenovo did it better than HP, but i haven't been able to find any other software to replicate (but then again, I haven't looked!). Hope that helps.

  • +1

so which model is it in the cashback?

    • +4

The A004TU, third in the list. For me, the full text is "P7F66PA#ABG - HP Spectre x2 Detach 12-a004TU AUST".

  • +1

Thank you @salted-caramel: I bought one and this is a huge saving for me.

Is there any difference between this group deal and the hp x2 deal available as a regular deal on futu online ? Same price .

    • +1

They are both the same item. 110 sold and 10 more remaining. When I check the futu online auction, it states "You bought this item"

  • +1

Mine came with a pen as well. HP website states pen is not included however pen was inside the box. BTW this model does not even show on the website anyway.

  • Sold out

  • Mine arrived on Friday. It's a lovely unit, very well built, pen included. I expected a USB-C to type A adapter but none in the box. Anyway, the keyboard doesn't work on my unit (but the touchpad does). I've updated all drivers and rebooted, re-attached etc to no avail. I'll have to return it. No one else have this issue?
