[VIC] Free Basic Lawn Mowing @ Mow Now

820

Hello OzBargainers!

We're a lawn mowing business and we'd love everyone to try our lawn mowing service! No one should be spending their weekends mowing the lawn. We come by monthly to maintain your lawn just the way you like it.

That's why we're giving out a free Basic Mow to all new clients (normally $20/month) or $25 for a Full Mow (normally $40/month). For anything larger than a Full Mow (>400sqm) please contact us for a significantly discounted quote! No obligation to continue after the first month if you don't like us - no strings attached!

We also attend to other gardening requests such as hedge trimming, fertilisation and weed removal.

Do we service your area? Fill out our contact form here to find out for sure!

Quick question: our lawns sometimes need to be mowed every 3 weeks & even sometimes early in summer, every 2 weeks… If you mowed our lawns only every month and there was a bit of overgrowth… Would we be charged a surcharge for overgrowth?

    Thank you.

    • +2

Hey GadgetGirl, we say a minimum of once per month as this is the frequency most of our customers have requested. Once a month is usually sufficient - the overgrowth is not significant and you won't be charged extra.

We've also found that with weather seasons at more extreme ends (Eg. either very cold/wet or very hot without rain), the lawns only need a month to month cut. However some clients do wish for a fortnightly trim instead - completely optional.

Hope that clears things up :)

This sounds like a really great service for ozbragainers, but I think it will be bad for you. I think you will get a few cuts from people on here but NO repeat business… an ozbargainer would really buy a cheapo manual cutter than spend $35 a month…

I wonder if it would be better to hand out free mowing vouchers to people in mailboxes who are already around current clients, as you can do their lawn at the same time as you are already there.

Good luck with your business and hope you get some traction!

      Thanks for the good wishes!

You're correct hello as there are some major tightasses here.

I personally wouldn't take up freebies like this unless I was seriously considering using the service.

I am seriously considering it because I can't be bothered mowing my lawn but I now have a lawn mower. 2 years ago I didn't have a mower and had to borrow one from my dad each time I wanted to mow the lawn, should have signed up then..

My lawn is say ~200sqm, so is that $25 for the first mow and $40 per month thereafter?

      Good luck bestdealhunter!

      • Hi JB1! Yes you're 100% correct. It's just $25 for your first month and $40 thereafter. You have the opportunity to assess our work and decide whether you are happy to continue after the first mow.

Hope we received your submission on our contact form!

    • Actually there is some sense in having us come by for as low as $20 a month instead of buying a manual mower.

Manual mowers require ongoing maintenance (blade sharpening) and usually do not collect the cuttings. There is also the risk of your mower needing fixing eventually (a common issue with motor / electronic mowers).

Add this on top of the time you must spend each month to bring out the mower, do your lawn, clean your mower. For some, it may be worth paying the $20-$40 a month to never spend your time on your lawn again - time you could be spending elsewhere on your weekends.

  • Do you accept AMEX or PayPal?

    • +3

      Absolutely :) No dramas.

      • You've got my business in that case… And my mums!

        • Thanks jhaley3180! Looking forward to your submission on our contact form if you haven't sent it already!

  • Do you cover regional VIC? If so what areas?

    • +1

Not right now. However we have gone to regional areas occasionally for big jobs. If you have a big lawn or have neighbours interested in this deal, feel free to contact us :)

Just want to say a huge thank you for the people that have reached out to us with lovely comments and advice. We're so amazed by the level of response in the last few hours but more so, by the vibrancy of this online community. Keep it up guys!

Wow $40 is a really good price for a average size block is that with edging?. I remember paying a lot more then that up here in Brisbane when I rented. I now have to do my own lawns as its 5 acres with the ride-on. All the best with the business mate.

    • Thanks for the support Bundybogan!

In Noble mate, filled out the form. Never had another man touch my lawn but did my PCL! good timing for this bargain I guess.

Are you only doing one free mow? The wording is a bit unclear.

Still $20 pm is cheaper than I thought it would be. Is that one mow per month for $20?

    • -1

what do you want? he shouldnt be doing anything for free… you want him to come do it forever for free?

      • Thank you for the support sirlothie. Yes lotn, it is one free mow. Please do not request us to come by if $20 per month is beyond your budget or something you would not consider paying. It is an obligation free trial, but we do rely on the good faith of our clients that they are genuinely looking for some ongoing help at an affordable price.

  • Is this a scam? I've been in contact with them over the past few days… now they are asking for direct debit payment before actually providing the service. Anyone actually had their lawn mowed by this company?

    • +1

Hmmm they might mow your bank balance instead of your lawn!

    • Hi Hollytaylor, I believe we have replied to you a while ago.

At no point did we enforce that we required your direct debit details - it is simply a section on our sign up form that clients can chose to fill out. As you would have seen, we also have our Electronic Funds Transfer details directly underneath. In this case, we are actually relying on the good faith of our clients to pay us for the work, after we have completed it. '

I hope that clears things up and settles any of your concerns.

  • There's no freebie here. The idea is to lock you into a year long contract in which you pay a premium for the rest of the year. The title 'All new clients can grab a free Basic Mow!' is misleading. I certainly did not get a free basic mow. From email correspondences, not sure I'll even get a discounted mow. What is this doing on ozbargain?

    • Hi coathanger007.

As per the title, comments and our website, a Basic Mow is normally $20/month and covers up to 100sqm. We are not and have not offered to mow up to half an acre for free. That said, we have also applied the discount for the price of our Full Mow, thereby reducing it to $25 for the first month.

There is no "lock in" with the first mow. We provide all clients the opportunity to evaluate our services for the first month before they decide whether they would like to continue the service for the remaining 12 months. This is how we are able to allow you to pay as little as $20 a month - your lawn is always tended to so it never overgrows. Casual lawn mowing is expensive because of the time it takes to quote, measure your lawn again and assess its height - this is where you pay a larger premium.

You may consider this a premium compared to tending to your own lawn yourself, but not everyone has the time to do so and would prefer to spend that weekend time on more productive activities.

  • devo that I had to get the lawn mowed from a much more expensive mob while my legs broken :(

  • +1

I haven't received anything from this company since signup, not even a call or email. Has anyone received their free mow yet?

      Hi creeps_bay,

We replied to all emails on the 17th of July. There are a number of clients who have not responded, so we are suspecting that these emails have gone to junk mail. If you still can't find our email, feel free to send a personal message and we will try contact you again.

      Thanks.
