  • I think I paid about $90 for this a few months ago. TBH, I haven't figured out what good the 'muli-tool' is. There is another 2 pack which has an LED worklight which takes the same battery - that would have been a better deal in retrospect.

    • It's great for sanding in tight places.

My grandmother had a door that wouldn't close properly after a period of the house 'settling'. It was just banging up against the top of the frame when trying to close. It's a high door/ceiling so getting tools in the gap was a pain

Multitool fit in no worries. I was able to sand/shave a couple of mm off the top of the door without having to take it off the hinges. I also had the vacuum hose right next to the head and didn't even have any dust on the floor after. It closes fine now and saved me a lot of time having to manually sand it or take it off the frame and use a belt sander, sanding disk, saw to cut or any other option I had at the time.

In the ~2 years that I've had it (Ryobi one+ deal on this site), that's the only time I have used it for a job. I've tried using it for other jobs but found that they do not preform nearly as well as other tools. So I'm with you in that it was most likely a useless purchase, but now I have 4 batteries for my drill lol!

The ryobi one takes AEG multitool heads, so you can buy stuff like a right angle drill head, and a 3/8 ratchet head. Thats what I use mine for.

        • I remember reading that and looking into it at the time for a jigsaw/routing head.

But then I saw the price of those heads and thinking, nah I'll be right with my Ozito version :)

If they came down in price to be around $50 a head I might change my tune, but I'm a DIYer on a budget.

        • @c0balt:
True. the angle drill, and ratchet heads are the only ones that are good value. Luckily for me they are the only ones I wanted.

        • @stumo:

That gives me an idea.. actually an angle drill that can be used as an angled cordless screwdriver may be something I could really use.

I'll be looking into it, might get some use out of the multitool thanks.

          @c0balt:
No the angle drill is no good for that, it has no clutch. Its only good for drilling.

        • @stumo:

Really, no clutch? I would have thought there has to be some form of torque control when converting the vibration movement of the multitool base into a linear movement? Is there possibly a clutch just no control over it?

If the price was right I could do without having clutch control if there's a decent range of speed control. My go to technique with delicate driving doesn't require a clutch when driving in screws (pre tapped), as I tend to slowly drive until it's close and use a hand screw driver to finish.

Having a look at the prices though, none of them are right. It would be cheaper to get a right angle drill bit adaptor for my normal drill driver.

        • @c0balt:
The multi-tool tool base is actually just a rotary drive out, direct from the motor. reversible variable speed, no clutch. Its the multi-tool head that converts that rotation into vibration.

Muti implies multiple use like removing tiles and grout
    And also buttering toast
    And I'm outta ideas

I'm totally new to all these drill kit. Never used or bought one myself before. Have no knowledge about them at all.

Is this a good kit for infrequent DIY?

Does it come with any drill bits? If not, can anyone recommend me one set please?

Also, I want to use it as a screw driver, does this mean I have to buy screw driver bit or something like that? Can you point me to a good set as well? Thanks!

The quality of this kit is very good for the price. I would say that it is on par with brushed Ryobi kit.
I don't think you will do better at this price.
The main drawback is the battery, which takes about an hour to charge, and must not be allowed to go flat, which if you only use it occasionally, means you will need to remember to charge it every few months.
There are no drill bits, just a couple of blades for the multi tool.
To drive screws you will need a power screwdriver bit and preferable a quick change holder.
The drill bits you get will depend on the type of material you want to drill and the size of holes. If you but good ones they will last for many years.

      • The battery also isn't very big. It's ok for occasional work, but if you want to replace your decking boards or something, then you'll be charging it a few times.

  • Thanks, got 1. Don't forget 2% cashback from cashrewards.

    • Did you receive yours?
I also bought it on eBay. Received Tax invoice from Master, but now still not yet marked as SENT.

      • Got it on Monday. I think it was a returned one, the seal was broken and the charging adapter cable wasn't tied up, but meh. It works fine. The battery is bit of a tight fit too. Bought from the store.

  • Any of you received yours yet?

Bought it on eBay. Now still not yet marked as SENT.
