some people dont want an alienware, and would rather buy something like this
hence if it's a bargain just post it, it might not appeal to some and it might be helpful for others. this site is about sharing and helping people nab bargains, not free advertising space for certain items only.
My post wasn't intended just for alienware… perhaps I didn't make it clear… but I said to look through them as there were many other great deals

I agree with Trance. applebyte it is better when all the information is right there ready to be accessed on ozbargain. Having to go to officeworks and searching etc. takes longer but also stops comments.
All this info here means that we can comment and say, "good value", "bad cpu", "good ram" etc. If it was just a link it would be, "Thanks" and more limited to that response.
Now if every computer was posted that may be annoying but less annoying than an open-ended "check out the site and see what they have" as that way takes longer and you waste time looking at things you aren't a potential customer for.
Please note I am not trying to make you wrong because you aren't. Your thinking is fine but suited best for minds that are happy to research a little on the site whereas this post is good for people who have already researched a little for the bargain hunters.
A gamer might look at that instantly, whereas an Arts uni student wouldn't even know what Alienware is(if she was a girl-most likely) but would look at this post as it's familiar to her and then she may buy it.
CPU is kind of slow-ish, but still alright for a work laptop.
For those who are curious, the GPU is a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 M92LP

I consider this as duplicate of the previous post (Officeworks Laptop Deals e.g. Alienware M11X - $1161 (RRP: $1499)), as this model is included in one of the deals.
Yea i agree, the poster obviously was reading the other post, as it had said there were some other deals. I think he just wanted to get some votes.
Well in Coles today there are specials on Magnums adn kettle chips. If I said Magnums are on special and there are some other deals so check them out I would be right with your thinking.
However if you didn't like Magnums, or didn't know what a Magnum was then you would be grateful that another peson posted that deal separately.
Viewpoint guys, learn how to adjust it. I adjusted it to yours and saw it was critical and that a person who likes Compaq and doesn't know Alienware would benefit from this so I changed it to the viewpoint that would help more people.
Alienware is popular with gamers and gadget geeks. Many others don;t know it. When you read a page of bargains it is keywords that attract you to a post based on the individuals familiarity with that word.
See personally I don't like Alienware very much. I clicked on applebyte's post saw there was no info and so got out. I then saw this post and clicked on it. I don't like Compaq much either. I saw the processor and backed out. But at least the information was there.

Alright I will be a mitigator. I don't know either of you. Goober may have negged your deal because you posted a deal and left it so unspecific. You didn't put specs or anything other than price and model. That's fine but most posts have all that and when they don't people or mods add them.
Maybe he negged as you made a point of saying, "He is wrong and he stole your post".
This comes across as me being biased in favor of goober. I am not. It is not necessary as this information will appeal to some as there is plenty of information.
Secondly in your post you said there is some good deals and but because goober posted them you are happy to say the deal sucks in a personal attack as opposed to relating to the product.
So in closing you are defined by your actions and that makes up your reputation so both of you do actions that help provide good information to people who will potentially benefit from the deal.

What I said about this laptop is justified. The reason for goober's negative pertains to his personal taste and so far 6 people disagree with it.
"Maybe he negged as you made a point of saying, “He is wrong and he stole your post”." is the worst reason for a neg I've ever come across.
There are probably another 5 laptops on the officeworks site that are probably better deals than this one… should I go ahead and post them separately?
I thought I was helping people enough by giving people a heads up of a couple of good deals on the officeworks website (and it doesn't take much looking to notice them… there's a big "clearance" sign next to them)

If we started listing all the deals there would be too many threads… there's a 15" compaq laptop for $459 but you don't see me posting another thread about it
