I remember back in 2012 when Dick Smith had a online pricing error of the 2TB model for $149 (rrp back then was around $300). Went to several office works to get it priced match and 5% off. Managed to get 2 before dick smith took down the ad. The next day I tried to buy some more using my receipt but the OW I went into confiscated it and threatened to remove me from their store saying what I was doing is a scam. lol

      True OzBargainer, right here!

    • When Bing Lee had a pricing error on some computer speakers a while back I walked into Office Works with the site loaded on my phone. They took one look at it and gave me the discount. Right after I paid I refreshed the page and the deal was gone. Gotta love good timing and the accepting nature of Office Works.

so the RRP for it back then was $300? now you can get 3tb for ($149). JB Hif had 4tb for $160 a while ago.

  • Available at Bundall Gold Coast. So not just SA.

  • Thanks! Can't find mine so just bought one for pickup at Springvale VIC.

  • available at Chadstone, VIC too (and Nunawading,VIC)

I swear they must monitor OzBargain for pricing, it was $78 about 30 minutes ago when I checked.

    • 15 mins later, now appears to be sold out online

  • can be used to upgrade PS3 HD?

    • +1

No, from what I've read the SATA connectors on these type of drives (Elements) are soldered on.

      EDIT: Answered below, my bad.

These are not your standard 2.5 inch drives. They have the USB circuitry on the HDD board, as opposed to a separate USB circuit the drive plugs into. So you cannot use to replace a standard 2.5 inch drive if you want to use a SATA connection.

  • What OW store was it that threatened to remove you btw ?

  • Is this a good price?

yes std is $50 for 1tb and this is portable so its a pretty good deal

  • Does anyone know how long this is on special for please?

  • JB HiFi Seagate Backup plus portable 2TB Slim $149

  • Forgot to say- MSY - Seagate 2TB Slim $138 but no stock

  • Got one at HN Nunawading.
They had $78 (on special) on the shelf, $108 sticker price, but it scanned at $66.
    Thanks OP.

  • thanks picked one up!

  • They are selling out fast in SA, this model has recently been superseded, was told the new version is just a bit smaller in size and $98.

    Thanks OP

  • Thanks, picked one from OW @ $66.

Huh should be less with the price beat

      • +1

OW changed their price sometime today, to match HN price, so no price beat.

  • I was just checking stock for someone, HN have changed the price to $88. OW told me on the phone that $66 was their normal price, when I made fewer enquiries, I was told, we don't do the prices, so can't say it won't go up, I mentioned HN, but they didn't want to admit they had price matched.

  • officeworks still have both the 2TB Toshiba Canvio and Seagate for $117.

  • Anyone have around 214mb already used on the drive out of the box but when you select all the files in it, they only add up to like 5mb?
