This normally $347. I paid $412 6 months ago during Xmas sales :(
Georges have it listed for $429

This is a really good price for an excellent tripod

Note the detailed description describes the 3 section leg version, but the title is for the 4 section leg version.
The 4 is less stable, but more compact.

  • Great tripod for a great price

  • What's the cost to build this thing?

    • It starts with bauxite, an aluminium ore…

    • That is an odd question.

But, by the looks of it, there is about 200-300 small components that have to be precision manufactured out of plastic, steel, aluminium etc and then they must all be assembled carefully. The assembled item has to be packaged securely for shipping. Sold to a reseller. Then shipped to the customer.

This doesn't include all of the costs of designing the unit, Manfrotto are known for good durable design. Also the research that went on to allow the design. Then they have to back the unit up with after sales support and warrantee.

I would say that the cost of building this high quality unit by a flagship manufacturer would be quite high, hence its price.

    • +1

Just check the Chinese clone :)

But tbh Manfrotto is one of the best tripod out there next to Gitzo.

You buy one today at bargain price and I am certain you will get the same $ when you resell it 5 years down the track when you upgrade to the 055 range or tripod that can flex like a ballerina.

      • Ted's refunded my Chinese tripod and i bought a 190x …cost a lot more but I haven't looked back.

    • Need to refine your question a little bit.

From R&D to retail cost is lot higher than the pay asssembling labours get. (if that put things into perspective)

  • Price allowing, switching to carbon tripods may be a significant improvement over aluminium ones, quite a bit lighter and better vibration reductions.

Switched from 190 series aluminium manfrotto to carbon benro 8 years ago, still works great.

    • Yer, I love the carbon fiber version very much. Still have my aluminium as backup.

  • Free shipping?

  • I have talked to an online representative.
He assured me that they would post the product inline with the title.
