OnePlus 3 Three 64GB 6GB Ram Dual Sim £282.84 (~$529 AUD) @ CooliCool

430
FVE3SUS

similar to my other deal here for the xiaomi mi5 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/254663

the newly released Oneplus 3 is available for £282.84 ($529 AUD)

PLEASE SWITCH CURRENCY TO GBP. it defaults to Euros.
Also when checking out to get this $529 price you need to select paypals credit card option or just outright credit card and pay with a 28degrees in GBP (don't let Paypal convert it) or no intl fee credit card

this is obviously more pricey than the 64gb xiaomi but for $5 more you get 3 extra gigs of ram.
The xiaomi mi5 Pro with the 128gb ram for less than $100 more is a better deal due to the larger storage if youre willing to pay more

the xiaomi uses a sony IMX298 for the camera vs the oneplus uses the IMX179 (i honestly dont know which is better) im getting conflicting reports that they might use the same imx298
either of which arent as good as the flagship imx377 or the new imx218 in the asus zenfone3 deluxe or the galaxy s7's imx260

If you flash it with a custom rom to make it keep apps running in the background at the cost of battery life. it actually destroys the samsung galaxy s7

again Add the coupon code FVE3SUS for another £2.07 discount.

This is about $100 cheaper than anywhere

I wanna give credit to this deal for the LeTV Le1 Pro 5.5" qHD Snapdragon 810 Android Phone - £121.46 ($222.30AUD) Shipped

Mod 27/6: Updated ~$AU price to $529 (from $515), using the correct/current Mastercard rates.

    Elephone from coolicool

    • +1

      What from where?

      • -4

        It's just fun to say

  • +9

I heard the bands aren't exactly the best for using in Australia. No 700mhz band

    • good point out. not a deal breaker for me as im always in the CBD anyway

      • +4

More so for better coverage for 4GX(Telstra) or 4G+(Optus). My OPO seems to lose reception just at Richmond also can't pick up 4G+

    • I wouldn't touch this phone cause of this. Xiaomi is better

  • +2

    Yeah doesn't support Band 28.

Buy this if you don't really care about 4G.

I'd buy it so hard if only it had full support for it.

  • -7

Wait 3 days and you'll be looking at $400 AUD

    • +8

you think the pound is gunna get lower?

      • +1

It probably won't get any higher any time soon that's for sure.

        • so doesnt that make this a good time to buy

        • @furythree:

If the £ drops, it'll be favourable to buy in A$. The more the £ dips in value the better it'll be for us. The £ will very likely go lower than what it is at present.

      • And it did haha

  • +2

If it's the same camera as the Mi5, don't even bother. The low light pictures are pathetic.

      • Yep, same as Mi5 I believe. Very poor in low light. The review pictures even show the same. My LG G4 is infinitely superior in this regard. I'm overseas and leave my Mi5 in the hotel in the evenings because it's not even worth the aggravation.

        • -2

lol yeah the G4 is an amazing camera

i dont take low light photos anyway

    • +2

Call me crazy, but I buy a camera for photo taking.

      • +1

Me too, low light photos suck unless you have a large sensor and decent size lens.

      • +1

best camera is the one thats on you. Sometimes even an a7 seems too bulky.

        • -1

The camera that is usually on me is an ASIO drone. Really crisp pictures!

      • I have a proper camera on me 2 but having a g4 on me when I don't have a proper camera has been a God sent. Have taken some amazing pics with this thing.

      • -1

The best camera is the one that's with you. A phone often is. It may as well be useful.

      • +1

Having owned many Canon DSLRs like 5D3, and currently a a7RII + a6000 with good lenses, and having just got back from an Asian trip, I'm starting to think maybe a mobile phone is all I need… Oh and Lightroom.

There's really very little end user discernible difference between the output of my Note4 with Sony cams after PP, at an equivalent focal length. Sure I got some nice bokeh with the 55mm @ f2, but my most popular pics on 500px were from my GoPro and Note4. Given how expensive the a7R + 16-35mm + 55mm were… SW + mobiles with good screens and cameras are the future.

  • +11

Love one but there is little reason to ditch my oneplus one

    • +5

Yep, temp but my 1+1 still going pretty great after more than 1.5 year, battery going down is an issue but still manage to go through a day with moderate use

    • +6

Yea I'm going to stick to my Galaxy s2, as really no reason to upgrade to an S7 either at this point.

      • Same here. S2 since it came out, with the S7 with only 32gb kinda kills it for me. Just need to figure out a better custom rom, current one is laggy as heck.

        • +3

I hope you are being sarcastic like me.

        • @OnlinePred: Well, what do you know? Never thought someone will genuinely backs your sarcasm huh? I guess there are people out there still happy with their old phones :D

        • @luminair: Still being happy with old phones is not the same as there not being a reason to upgrade. Funny how people up-voted me lol. Anyway a direct comparison would be stupid as newer phones mostly get better updates, more software support and features, better screens for illegibility in sunlight and lower brightness for dark viewing, they have better cameras (by far), better speakers, storage hasn't progressed much, they have MUCH better performance so you can do everything faster and not have to load more data all the time. There is a lot more that I have not included here.

Again just because someone likes using an old phone, definitely doesn't mean there is no reason to upgrade, it simply means you either have not experienced a better phone, or you don't use most features on a phone etc etc.

So that's why I was being sarcastic, as it's a silly thing to say. My 1991 ford falcon runs fine, although it doesn't have 8 airbags, it doesn't have traction control, climate control, Bluetooth, navigation, it's not fuel efficient, parts are old and need replacing, seats are worn, it doesn't have an immobilizer, it costs more to insure, etc etc. You see my point? There are lots of new things out there, that are better. Just because I am happy driving my old hunk of junk…

        • +1

@OnlinePred: "Again just because someone likes using an old phone, definitely doesn't mean there is no reason to upgrade, it simply means you either have not experienced a better phone"

          Sometimes ignorance is bliss.

        • @hahaboy: I wouldn't know : " or you don't use most features on a phone"

    • I only bought the OnePlus Two when my OnePlus One screen broke. I ended up replacing the screen and often feel like using it as my daily phone again.

  • Anyone order from these guys can they be trusted and how much to ship to Sydney

  • price is coming up as € 409.98 for me??

    • Used the code?

    • +1

You have to change currency to gbp and go to the French site

    • Change currency to GBP

  • +2

Good price but buyer beware - camera is horrible in low light (as others have pointed out) and battery is very small for a 5.5" phone

    • -1

And by horrible, you mean not as great as some.

  • +1

Why can't you just call it 4?

  • -1

Also this thing cuts down the use of 6GB RAM due to power consumption, effectively making the extra RAM a gimmick

    • -1

      you can flash it

    • Software update will come out I'm sure. The one+ community are very vocal, and usually get what they ask for, especially now.

  • +2

Great phone but I hear battery is small terrible decision by one plus 3. I might end up getting this though as my phone needs replacing asap. Just waiting for a band 28

  • I'm either considering oneplus 3 or ZTE axon 7. Anyone have anything that could tip the scales?

    • +4

The Axon 7 would tip the scales in its own favour…. because it's 27g heavier.

Sorry.. I had to do it.

      • +1

Wow.. haha i set myself up for that one

    • Axon looks like a beast, I would prob go Axon but purely for the audio standpoint, as most reviewers have said the 3 has an average speaker and average headphone jack quality. Tied with the average battery and average screen, I feel like the Axon is leagues ahead of the 3 right?

  • +1

I'd rather have Mi5 because I don't want a 5.5" screen if it's only going to be 1080p. It has enough RAM and processing power to handle at least QHD.

However, I don't like MIUI (no app drawer, plus global rom doesn't let you pick Australia as a locale), so I'll probably wait for S8.

    • I don't like Samsung so I will probably wait for the MI8.

      • That's several years away. We're only up to Mi5, so if they do one of these a year we're looking at 3 more years. But Mi4 was two years ago, so they aren't strictly on a 12 month cycle either.

        • Just letting you know my pointless story. Also going by most brands, mi8 will be reused next year along with axon 8, sg8, etc etc

  • +1

is this the UK Model or Chinese model?
    can anyone confirm?

    • whirlpool says its chinese model

      • yeh I would be one the guys saying that on whirlpool, no band 5 so yeh looks like it's the Chinese model

  • I saw someone comment in the other deal it was <$400 yesterday. I was tempted at that price. I feel the compromises you have to make don't compensate for the savings. I don't think that losing out on the screen, camera, sd card slot and band 28 on this phone for the savings is worth it.

    • When was it ever under $400 AUD? This is the cheapest I've seen for the OP3.

  • +3

I need to comment. You don't need to flash a new rom to get it to hold more apps in the background, just need to edit build.prop. This should not impact battery life as ram is ram, it doesn't use up more energy to use up more installed ram. Regardless of the amount of ram usage, energy usage should remain the same.

Based on GSM Arena's review the battery life is pretty decent (not the best) and the camera is IMO more than acceptable, basically on the same level of my LG G4, cept with PDAF, which IMO the focusing of the LG G4 is the biggest weakness, it needs PDAF. I don't use my phone's camera for anything serious anyways, I have a DSLR with prime lenses for that. But at least it can shoot RAW which makes it good for post processing.

There is also more to a camera than a sensor, lens is important and so is the firmware/software behind the camera.

Here is GSM Arena's comparison of the OP3, G4 and S7 Edge (you can choose different phones if you want to compare) http://www.gsmarena.com/piccmp.php3?idType=1&idPhone1=7995&i…

Unfortunately this example is still limited, as you cannot sort by ISO and/or shutter speed so I'm assuming they are "auto" settings.

But if you compare it to the G4 and G5 low light, go to the low light image, look for the US money, look at Lincoln's suit collar, you can easily see the detail on it on the OnePlus 3, but even though they are at lower ISO, they are smeared out in the LG G4 and G5. Then shift to the right a bit around the word "Dollar" same thing, can see all the detail in the OnePlus 3 but smeared out in the G4 and just a bit better in the G5. Above that "secretary of the treasury" is very easy to read on the OP3 but not on the G4/G5.

Move back to the centre and go up to the pastels where the ruled lines are, OP3 very sharp, LG G4 somewhat sharp, Lg G5, not sharp at all.

Then bottom right, Lg G4 has the best detail retention at the cost of more noise, but IMO has a better balance of detail/noise in that area. G5 and OP3 similar detail, but G5 is far nosier so it loses there. All this considering the ISO of the OP3 is higher which should indicate worse noise and the use of more aggressive anti-noise/smoothing algorithms

    • can you give instructions on the build prop thing

  • +2

it actually destroys the samsung galaxy s7

Just wanted to mention S7 supports SD and has an OLED QHD screen.

    • Just wanted to mention you can buy two Oneplus 3's for the price of an S7.

      • +3

Yeah but I don't need two phones.

If something 'destroys' something else, then price is not a relevant consideration. The supposed destroyer in this instance is the cheaper one, so price class should not be unfair advantage for a destroyer when comparing the two.

Put it this way, if I had a choice of the two to receive for free, I won't take the destroyer, but the destroyee.

        • -1

True,no one buys cars under $150,000 because the ones above are just better. I see your valid point where money isn't a factor for YOU. And besides, why buy a phone every other person has already when you can get something different.

      • Price of s7 here $712

        https://www.t-dimension.com/au/samsung-galaxy-s7-g930f-dual-…

So you can buy 2x op3 for $712?

  • +1

Can some tell me how come they are getting 515$ I have selected France coolicool website changed to pound but at checkout I am getting 287£ approx after applying discount code including shipping as I live in wa it is charging me £7 approx shiiping. • +1

      I had the same problem.
But. I was like what the hell I rather just buy it ceebs $42.
Still 100$ off I guess not the ozbargin way but o well. I want stock :( :)

    • im using 28 degrees mastercard to checkout and not bank transfer

dont let paypal do the currency conversion for you. you need to switch to a credit card so it will charge you in GBP

  • Id just like to let everyone know if you're planning on using this China version that does not include 700mhz band 28 on 4G
you might be better off (urban wise) with Optus because of how many towers are on the B7 2600mhz and B3 1800mhz and 2300MHz Band 40
so your 4G has two Three bands to work with compared to Telstra with just B3 1800mhz

here check out how many towers are in your state

  • After constant issues with OPO, I think I will pass on one plus now..

  • I warn anyone who cares about battery life, that the battery life in OP3 is pretty bad according to reviews. The Oneplus Two battery would only last for a half a day and the Op3 is reported to have similar battery life. The old One plus one battery lasts you 2 and even 3 days sometimes.
I went back to OPO from OP2 and I wont be fooled again.

  • 6th Ram, that is massive.

    • Underutilized I say

  • 6gb ram is great, but not sure if better than Mi5?

  • +1

They caught on and updated the price now.

  • Price: £ 356.98 now, how to get the above posted price?

  • Don't keep your hope up guys. I just received an email from them demanding me to pay the difference because of the price error. I guess they will cancel all orders. I bought Mi Max and this phone, I think I will receive another email soon. I'm not sure if the LeEco LeTV order will have the same fate. This means the Mi5 deal will soon be cancelled as well.

    • +1

just tell them youll leave negative reviews and get them banned from paypal

  • +1

£356.98 (updated price from fr.coolicool) converts to ~$645 AUD so considering you can get this phone for under $600 AUD from Aliexpress, it is not worth it to pay the extra

    $436.88 USD http://www.aliexpress.com/item/NEW-Arrival-Oneplus-3-Snapdra…

    $437.99 USD http://www.aliexpress.com/item/In-stock-Original-OnePlus-One…

    • noice

althought at this price its cheaper to get the letv leeco Le Max 2

  • -1

This is the Chinese version, no good for Optus, Telstra and Vodafone on 4G as it lacks 4G 700mhz and 850mhz.

    • None of Oneplus phone support LTE band 700 or 850. It support 4G LTE 1800 though.
