  • Be very cautious with this seller. I'd only purchase from them if you can pickup. You'll never receive your order if you require delivery.

    • Hi,

I have always had a great experience with PCLAN. They sent my order on the day the payment cleared. It arrived the next day using Fastway. The staff always respond to emails within 24 Hrs.

    • Recently ordered a nas from qlan. Speedy delivery. No issues. Will be back. Not sure what you're on about maxwellian

  • Anyone have a recommendation for small business Nas
    - accessible by 5 computers
    - have 1tb storage at the moment which is near full.
    - used for file sharing
    - would like backup to system like crashplan

Current nas Readynas NV+ is slow for file transfers and backup to usb.

Plus any 8gb usb drive, and your choice of hdd(s)
Edit: (Just saw Harvey Norman 3x8gb Sandisk usb for $9, they would be prefect)

      Freenas is awesome.

      • assuming i but one of this server, would it hard and time consuming to install the free nas and have it running with no problem? or do i need keep researching the proper way to make sure it works. do apologise for this kind of question, i am totally a newbie in IT.

        • +1

With ANY server you need to do backups, freenas once installed and configured is very simple, and very fast compared to most "nas" solutions.
Freenas is very powerful and has many features not available with "nas in a box" devices, and with more options comes increased complexity.
Check the freenas website and see how you go reading the information there. My freenas machine has 5x2tb hdds installed and works 24/7 without any trouble, but, the larger your data set, and the more important your data the longer backups will take, and the more frequently they should be done.

It should be noted that freenas suggests 8gb of ram, but in my experience it should work fine for most situations with 4gb.

        • @Ice-Eyes: thank you for the info. much appreciated

    • Also, for Crashplan - there isn't a version for SPARC (ReadyNAS NV+) - the x86 ones support it though (I have it running). Something like the Ultra series will certainly do it.

  • Hey Rep - any deals on Qnap TS-453A?
