    So it's cheaper to fly return than 1 way (which I can understand given it is a sale).

    Can I book a return and not fly the return leg? (I am returning from a different location).

      Usually yes - so long as you take the first flight on the itinerary and other flights in order - ie: if you just want the first leg you are fine but not the other way around.

      Have you tried a multi-city booking? Usually you can still get the sale discounts.

      For example you can fly OOL to JFK on 8 Feb and then return on 1 March from LAX to BNE for a total $1260 on the Qantas website.

    If I buy a QANTAS gift card to take advantage of the AMEX offer, can I use it through IWTF?

    Also, can I stack QANTAS gift cards for payment either on IWTF or on the QANTAS website directly (e.g. apply 3x QANTAS gift cards as forms of payment)?

      No, you cannot split payment on QF website.

      You could buy a Qantas gift voucher (note it needs to be for the same number of passengers that will ultimately fly), and then use it to make a booking with Qantas directly, paying the remainder of the fare with a second Amex.

      This would get you two credits, and avoid any booking fee. If the fare is more with Qantas directly than with IWTF, you should be able to make use of the Qantas price promise to get the difference back, and get 1,000 points. http://www.qantas.com/travel/airlines/price-promise/global/e…

        Thanks for the link, I had heard this mentioned a few times but this is the first time I have actually read and understood it.

        The only thing not clear is if the CC surcharge fits in (so if a site charges 1% and Qantas charges %30, the site is a significant saving), I'm assuming that it is not included, but I could not see an explicit reference to it.

        I really cant wait until September 1 when everyone charges a similar CC surcharge.

    What's the best way to sort out a refund when you have booked with Webjet and then the same flight comes up like this $500 cheaper?

      There is pretty much nothing you can do. Unless the flight cancels or schedule changes significantly.

      If you paid using a credit card that offers price protection, you may be able to make a claim for the difference. Not too sure on the conditions as they do vary card to card but might be worth investigating if you did use credit card to see if your card offers this.

        Webjet and Virgin have not been interested in helping. I can understand ~$100 difference but $500 3 days since I booked is ridiculous for the exact same flight.

        The credit card option is there but the PDS reads as though its only for tangible items where you find the same item in a printed catalogue for a cheaper price.

    On the Qantas website it is showing $1299 as the sale fare from MEL-New York, with fares valid for Oct/Nov as well. Why the difference I wonder?

    I have a bunch of qff points to use.. Is there an easy way with the Qantas website to find the these sale fares in points rather than dollars? I find the velocity rewards site for booking flights so much easier to navigate.
