I haven't bought one for a while, but I think they are usually WD Green drives
Yes, green as stated by the green 4tb on the outside of the packaging.
Mine arrived and the 4TB was written on a black square. Does that indicate I have WD black drives inside? Is there any other way to tell without cracking it open?
Saw the comments of the previous deals from Futu, the hard drive is not very well packaged.
The box is placed in a larger box which it can tumble around in.
Has anyone who previously bought from them and had a problem with the drive been able to get support from them easily?
I bought some of these in March this year through Futu Online's eBay store.
I did note this too with the packaging. I ordered 2 and it was like they receive them from the distributor in a box of 4. Had taken, 2 out then resealed the box (no extra padding put in) and sent it onwards to me. It was a very snug fit so I don't think they'd move around too much.
Thankfully the drives both worked fine and I've had no issues with them.
I bought 1 of these drives last week from the CLICK20 eBay sale and it got delivered today.
The WD box was placed in a large padded envelope about twice the size of the box. The envelope was then folded back on itself giving an extra layer of padding on 1 side, and the contents placed in the larger shipping box. Although there was still a little room for movement from side to side, there's less likely to be any damage due to the padded envelope. So it looks like Futu has improved its packaging.
Thanks guys, I bit the bullet and purchased it this morning.
Hoping it arrives in good condition. Will report back on packaging for any potential future buyers.
Okay it arrived and was inside a large padded envelope and then stuffed in to the box.
The internal box couldn't move within the larger box. Quite happy.

Hmm, I need an internal HDD, looks like these can be ripped apart to pull out a SATA drive? Looks like pretty good value, anyone done this with these Elements drives before?
Yes they can, and it's not that difficult to do so.
If only these were RED drives inside like the one i nabbed at Harvey Norman months back.
Any idea what the internal drives in these are?
