Make sure you have Xbox Live Gold, i just got it.
I managed to get it work. It wouldn't let me buy on my phone, had to buy on a PC browser.

Make sure you're logged in.
Then click the "Buy Game $29.95" link on the left hand side (above the Xbox Live logo). The page will refresh, and display a Popup with payment details… this should have the word "FREE" on it.
The main store page will eventually refresh with the updated price, but this does take a while on the Xbox 360 store. However rest assured you won't be charged anything for purchasing this game.

If you are getting the "You have found a glitch in the system" logout of your account and back in and try again. Worked for me.

Has anyone downloaded for the Xbox One? I cannot.
I can see the Xbox one verson in a Market Place search but it comes up as 360 after following the link. i downloaded it anyway in hope that backwards capaibliity just "does its thing"

Is it backwards compatible? If not then I don't think you can download it for Xbox One.

Yes. It's not stupid like PS Plus where you need to have a sub to play. Once you have a game, it's yours.
On the Xbox 360, yes. Yours to keep and allowed to be played offline.
On the Xbox One, no. You'll need an active Xbox Gold Subscription to play it.

How does anyone memorise all those Tekken combos? There is like a huge library of combo strings per character.
I used a PC to get it. Have games with gold, click the $29 xbox 360 goes to another page and will say free. Select ok to purchase all good. You may need to have a credit card attached to your Gamer profile
Do I need gold for a month or is it free with 2 days gold trial as well?
Has to be a 1-month code. 2,7 and 14-day subscriptions won't work.

I've never heard of that previously happening. They might revoke the license and stop you from playing it, at worst. Like what happened with Fallout 4.
Plus they officially announced that it would be free for a limited time.
Does anyone have any idea when this will end? I actually bought an Xbox One today and can't be arsed hooking up to Xbox Live right now but for Tekken and Goat Sim I'd throw 10 bucks down on a month's worth, but can I wait a week or so or should I get to it right now?
I believe it is until the end of E3 week which is tomorrow I believe but could be until Sunday as I read it somewhere but unconfirmed. I am having problems myself getting it for free despite following the suggestions of everyone.
You can buy the games online without using the console at all.
Shiiiit… I put on the 2 week Gold trial, and you can't get this on a trial of Gold… I might be (profanity) yo, apparently putting on a paid sub doesn't do anything until the trial is up :'( Cheers anyways!
I just activated a trial but also can't seem to get this for free? I also can't seem to see the gold subscription in my account settings?
Can't be done on a trial, has to be on a minimum 1-month gold membership or higher.
