Tom's Hardware compared it among eight external HDDs in April. The usb2 drives were quite similar, the Samsung advantage was in encryption (except for Win7) and the winner was Seagate with a five-year warranty.
Newegg: 44 customers averaging four-stars, 50% bestowing five-stars.
Amazon: 32 customers averaging above four-stars, almost all bestowing five-stars.
3yrs and samsung have the most fuss free warranty process
This a brilliant price, however, I'm reluctant to vote positive as Mwave seem to be unpopular due to trade practices breaches. See Whirlpool. (Looks like they're coming up with some enticing efforts to draw us back.)
I bought an ext. FW800 1TB WD drive from them late last year, and encountered no problems. Might be a once-off though?
If you're not in Sydney, it's not a bargain. Shipping costs kill the deal.
I picked up a SSD from them last Friday and it was hassle free.
The only complaint I've got was that my payment cleared on Thur and they confirmed with me that they have stock on hand, yet I wasn't allowed to pick up the item till Friday.
Is this HD any good?
