Woolworths Mobile $30 Prepaid Starter Kit for $1 in-Store with Woolworths Rewards Card or $3 Delivered Online

3890

Guys

Looks like Woolworths mobile fixed their system issues and it's now our task to test it.

Same as previous deal. Just that there is a limit of 1 pack per customer instead of 2.

update 9/6: seems Woolworths Rewards card now required in-store with limit of one per account

Update 11:25am: snappy1234 has reported the $1 sim card being available in store also. Check with your local store.

EDIT:
I have cancelled all the 4 orders($12) I placed early this morning via online chat.

Can confirm that it is $1 in store as well (Town Hall, Sydney).
Expiry date on the pack is 01/08/2017.

Limit of 5 per customer.

Proof: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/137114/40038/img-20160…

I managed to get 9 (went twice and luckily, the guy who served me initially was not there in the counter)

    6 days left, LOL

Last time I ordered 2 times ( same name , same credit card , different email…) , I had 4 , activated one , pretty fast only use data , this time just order one , expire end of December, 2016.
Woolworth did not tell me if I had bonus 3GB or not when activation( tale only 5-10 mins )

  • Sorry for the complete noob question, but, can I use this Woolworths SIM as credit in Google Play? I just read https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/telstra_pre-paid_starter_p… but just not sure, as the SIM is not a Telstra branded SIM (though obviously Woolworths uses the Telstra network).

    • +2

can I use this Woolworths SIM as credit in Google Play?

      Nope sorry…

    • +3

      Has to be Telstra Telstra

    • +2

No, you can't use it to buy a car either. But you could download a car.

      • +2

At least you're downloading cars and not movies, downloadin' movies is a much more serious business than downloading cars you know.

  • These are the only T&Cs I can find:
    https://mobile.woolworths.com.au/content/dam/Woolworths/Mobi…

Does the $1000 included calls apply to this offer?

Also, can you keep the same number and port every 28 days or so?

      • +1

So to get the best value one would have to order a few of these, then I just wait for a similar $1/$2/$3 offer from another carrier and buy an equivalent number of cards and port monthly.

        • spot on!

        • @spk:

Thanks! I think i replied to my own comment more than once though!

  • Can I port my existing number to woolworths mobile online?

    • -1

      Ask their help centre..

    • +2

      Yes.

Though not legally obliged to do so, all Australian mobile service providers offer the facility of porting your number in.

  • +1

uh oh here we go again :D

  • Got two sims last time..tempted to get more …can anyone please advise if this new starter pack can be used as $30 recharge to the existing Woolies sim

    • +1

      No

    • +1

Starter is start for you to use for a month then you will need to pay for recharge this is the purpose of selling it $1.

      The answer is no

      • +2

this means these starter packs and the numbers literally are disposable after 1 month use. what i often do is to carry two phones and set my main number as pay as you go (amaysim) and turn off the data. use the disposable 1m sim in the second phone.

        • For Ozbargainer Yes it is disposable when the credit finished.

But the propose of this starter pack is to get new customer to try using their network and keep recharging.

        • +2

          @LoveBargain15:

As an ozbargainer I have no idea what you just said.

What do you mean I'm supposed to keep recharging?? This logic is very foreign to me!

        • @illumination:

I dont mean you have to recharge, I mean the propose for the telco company selling starter pack for cheaper price is to get new customer to try using their network and keep recharging, this does not mean that you have to follow.

        • @LoveBargain15:

I know exactly what you mean.. as a non-ozbargainer.

I just said I don't know what you mean as an ozbargainer lol

        • -1

@illumination: not sure if you're trolling or just simply trying to act as if you're stupid.

  • did any one try to port Telstra to Woolworths? how long it took? The question is because porting within same network, take longer.

  • Any way to get longer than 30 day expiry?

    thanks

    • Top up again after 30 days?
Lol nah I don't think so? And this starter pack can only be activated on one plan (because Woolies only have one plan) with a fixed expiry date.

    • +1

      Yes, buy 2 :)

      • and you will have a new number each time you activate a new sim.

        • +4

Not if you play the OzBargain prepaid Hokey Pokey

  • Online only? Is it instore?

    • +1

You can try going in store and update us

  • Thanks OP. Got one for backup data when moving about.

  • +3

So it is $3 each vs $2 each on the last deal. ~ 50% price increase :)

    • +1

Should be 50% less votes then right? Haha

      • +4

        One dollar in store
        Half price

        • +2

          F*** I've ordered already
Can I cancel and buy in-store LOL

    • +3

spoken like a true tightarse :)

  • expiry date that need to be activate?

  • Has anybody attempted getting them price matched in a woolies store?

  • +1

why are ppl getting so many simcards? what am i missing here? to use as data for ur tablet/ipad?

    • +2

Keep porting between Optus, Woolworths(Telstra), Amaysim, Vodafone, Telstra.
All on cheap starter packs…OzBargain way

      • Do you have to go away from this woolworths SIM and then back again every time?

Can you port from an expiring woolworths SIM to the new one?

        • +2

          Yes.

          No.

        • @KaptnKaos:

          Thanks!

Are there any other cheap SIMs at the moment?

        • +1

@bm: Optus $30 prepaid starter kit is for $10 @ Coles

        • @bm: Telstra $30 prepaid is negative $6.50 at HN

        • @PBG: Tell us more please :-)

        • @xywolap: Buy at HN for $10, get refund of $16.50 through Rebatr. Search "Rebatr" in OzBargain - it's been explained a million times. You're welcome :)

        • +1

          @PBG:
That's a $15 starter kit with a Rebatr cashback right?

        • @KaptnKaos: $10 starter kit with Rebatr cashback

        • @PBG:
          a million times… oh!

        • @xywolap: Haha, OK OK maybe not a million but it sure has come up a lot lately. At least 5 separate threads in the past 2 months specifically on this topic. There's even a wiki page for Telstra prepaid cards (both here and a more detailed one on Whirlpool) where the process is explained in granular detail.

@Kaptn: sorry for the late reply, thankfully illumination has already clarified. It's $10 for $30 prepaid starter sims @ HN right now. Here is the deal link Telstra Pre-Paid SIM Starter Kit for Tablets $10.00 @ Harvey Norman

        • @PBG:
Interesting… i visit here about twic a day every day.
I beg your forgiveness for not being aware of this sir.

        • @xywolap: Forgiveness unnecessary :). I'm here 5-6 times per day and specifically take note of any deal/thread with the word Telstra in it because of this rebate

        • @PBG: I agree that this rebate is really awesome.
I'm just kinda scared/worried that this will get pulled.. and for this reason I'm kinda trying to use up my Telstra SIMs first

        • @illumination: I hear ya! I'm doing the same, trying to use Telstra sims first to lock in the rebate but I'm also trying to do it making sure to balance out the expiry dates of some other sims, as you no doubt are too.

I don't see Rebatr being pulled, but if it did then there is another called T-Cashback which gives only 50% rebate, or a phoenix might rise under a new name… and in a worst case scenario if all apps are pulled then I think that would be enough of a catalyst for me to create & host my own super-simple "PBGer" private app which gets me (and my family, not my ozbargain family) 70% back. Heaps of easy methods to create basic apps out there, you don't need to be a programmer or know how to code. Plus your own personal app could be so well disguised it would be near impossible to identify and have little chance of being pulled.

          My two cents

    • For me, instead of signing up to a month to month plan or go on contract for phonecalls or 3GB data, I get starter packs when they go on offer and then just change every month between Telstra, Optus, Vodafone, Amaysim, Boost, and now Woolworths.

    • +2

Good option for overseas visitors to use while they're around for a few weeks.

    • +1

      to use as data

Mostly this. How much do you pay per gig of data via sim? If it's over $1/gb then you're losing out

  • Thanks OP.

  • +4

    Thanks, got 8.

    • isn't the offer till 30th June, what will happen if we activate it after 30th June e.g. 30th Aug, will we still get $1000 calls and 6GB worth of data. ( if I buy multiple sims)

      • Yes the sim expiry is different to the data bonus offer.

        • so if it has expiry for an year, we can go ahead and keep porting in and out to get this offer of my 10 sims…. 30th June activation wont affect the sim

all i want to know is I dont want to end up in dud sims with $30 credit (pay as you go) i need data and calls.

          well thanks

        • @sajidmib: You have to activate before the 30th to get the bonus data offer. If the sim expires in December then you have until December to activate it to get the normal inclusions in the $30 pack.

  • If i buy this and keep using new one when it runs out do i have to habe a new number everytime?

    • you can retain your number while porting.

    • Yes.

    • Yes provided you port out and port back in to retain your number. You can't keep your number using two of the same stater packs.

      • -4

So I can port out of a woolworths sim to a new woolworths sim? same name same info same everything?

        • +1

You can't keep your number using two of the same stater packs.

          Can you read?

        • @LoveBargain15:

lol sorry, didnt read. so how are people using these? use it every 2nd month? or buy some optus $2 sims and to instant port out port in?

        • @suicine94:

You can buy either $2 SIM or get different branded SIM to port between , this month Telstra next month Woolworths

  • Will this work in a pocket wifi if I'm just after the data?

    • Yes, I'm guessing that's mainly why people are buying these, for the data.

    • +3

I'm currently using one from the previous promotion in my Vodafone pocket wifi. Just make sure to set the APN to mdata.net.au(You can find the information in Woolworths Mobile's FAQ page) in your pocket wifi's setting page. You may need to power off and power on the pocket wife again after the setting and then you are good to go.

      • +1

        pocket wife

        tee hee!

      • I've got an old Vodafone pocket wifi, but it locked to Vodafone. How did you unlock yours?

        • Mine is the Vodafone 3G pocket wifi (R207) bought last year and is unlocked.

  • +6

My local Woolies (QLD) is selling these for $1 (so check yours and save your $2 shipping) -girl on the desk says deal is till 14th instore)

    • But you can only get 1 sim?

      • Not sure but expiry date is 01 August 2017 in my store stock (so 13 months away approx)

        • +4

Confirmed at town hall Sydney. 5 per customer limit. Heaps left

        • +3

          @BargainKen:

          Confirmed Vic too.

        • @Gofast: Is it placed on the counter or on the shelf with other gift cards?

        • @Durant:

          Behind counter.

        • @Gofast:

          Confirmed with Woolies it's nationwide.

        • -2

          @Gofast: where is victoria?

        • @kiLbiL: Just get one from Moorabbin. plenty behind the counter

        • @sylvester328: Wish I could say the same for Arkabar. Someone cleared out the whole store.

        • +1

          @YellowKnight: Broden?

        • @YellowKnight: Damn was going to go get some today :(. Anyone been to Unley store?

    • Thanks for the hint. It is nationwide. Just purchased 5 from the woolies store. Some expire in August 2017, the others expire in December 2017.

    • Is this the same at Caltex Woolworths petrol stores?
