If they are refurbs, do they have much stock? Like more than 10?
Edit: I checked and they do, but damn thats a lot of that particular model TV that got sent back to the shop.

  • Store in title thanks

Cheaper is cheaper, but you're better off spending the $100 to get a brand new unit. Refurb could mean panels that have been on for quite a few hours already.

Sorry, but I need to neg this. Firstly it's a refurb at a discount of only 15% compared to new. Secondly, I need to draw attention to the horrible negative feedback which Sony's eBay store attracts for its seconds in particular.
    Check the neutrals as well.

It appears to me that the "Seconds" it sells of its own brand are not really "manufacturer refurbished", but rather "ex repair" (or just sold on if they could not find the fault in a hurry). People are reporting their purchases are:

    • Defective
    • Damaged
    • Dirty
    • Badly packaged

And apparently the after-sales support is uncommunicative, unhelpful and unreasonable.
    I recommend looking elsewhere.

    • Yep, it is not much of discount.

Edit: Also it is a bit rough claiming the price before discount is $849 for secondhand, when the new ones sell at brisk and mortar stores for under $800.

  • Not sure about the seller, but can recommend the tv. The ability to record direct to usb is great.

    • Pretty bad feedback for Sony at 94.1% for only 835 sales.

Looks like they are not being tested very thoroughly and are dumping them on customers to do the testing. Makes sense from a business perspective, and a big saving on labour looking for faults that are not simple "dead unit" faults.

I received my Sony 65X8500C from Gray's (I know different seller, but I'm lead to believe it's the same stock as it has a 'Genuine Sony Seconds' sticker on the box) yesterday, and it's perfect. Not a cosmetic fault, or technical fault to be seen (and I'm really picky with my TV's).

The only thing I could say is that it wasn't packed perfectly, and a minimal amount of foam got trapped between the bezel and the panel of the TV. A toothpick and a can of compressed air sorted it out though. Very happy with purchase.

Also worth noting is that it came with brand new remotes, batteries and manuals.

    • "Seconds", should be a new unused unit with a manufacturing issue, usually cosmetic.
