  • what is the model no. pls?

    • I have listed it above here it is again
Lenovo G560 part number is 06792KM

  • Anything Lenovo is a +1 from me. My T61 is bulletproof.

    • What I am impressed most with this machine is the way it actually looks, its the first Lenovo that I have found to look really sylish.

      • +1

I bought the SL500 2 years ago, yes very reliable and tough.

Stylish or not, one thing I dislike about Lenovo is the Fn button placement.

        • I dislike about Lenovo is the Fn button placement.

Yeah, Lenovo is ugly, bulky & I keep missed up that Fn with CTRL key and

          • @POWERevolution: This unit is not bulky or ugly it is a new series of notebook made by Lenovo, I was very surprised myself.
The FN key feature is an old IBM carry over feature and depending on what your used to can be quite useful.

  • Hi, just a question

    how heavy is this lenovo?

and what is the expected battery life?

    thanks

    • The battery is a six cell battery I don't have any solid info on the battery life, but I would put it at 2-4 hours,
in relation to the weight I also do not have any information, but it is probably around the 2.7-3kg mark as with most 15.6" machines.
As this machine is brand new and was only released into Australia today, I do not have a lot of information on it.
As it becomes available I will try to post here.

      • Rep, how much postage to VIC/SA?
Also how far is from your shop to Thomastown 3074?
This 1 look thinner than A60 I previously had. Can't see tap buttons on mice pad?

        • As described in the original listing above it is a flat $29 courier fee Australia wide regardless of location.
The heidelberg store would be around 5 kms to Thomastown.

This mouse design is different and the machine is much nicer looking than the old A series.
I am pretty sure everyone will be happy with the way it looks for a machine that is under $1000.
Though appearances are a matter of personel preferance.

          • @fastandthecurious: Silly me, how can I missed that postage? I clicked straight away to your link.
Thinking to buy this for someone so appearances + performances do matter. If it's for me then only need performances. ie. A60 bulky ugly :)

            This mouse design is different

How does this work? You have any close up pictures?

      G560 Datasheet (1.5mb PDF) states:

      • Battery life: "Approx. 4hr (integrated graphics) with 6-cell battery"
      • Weight: "5.73 lb (2.6kg) with 6-cell battery"
  • sweet deal. lenovos/IBMs i have found to be heaps reliable, have an old IBM thinkpad which i purchased refurb from hardly normal like… five years ago and it's still going as strong as ever

    • Remember, IBM sold their PC division to the Chinese company, Lenovo, in 2004.

I do have some ethical reservations about buying from a company primarily owned by the Chinese government — due to their human rights record. (Tiananmen Square, North Korean military support (pdf), supplying the Rwandan genocide, Tibet, Taiwan…)

Although, I concede that it would be very difficult to participate in consumer culture without supporting China somehow (and I was extremely impressed when they returned George Bush's spyplane piece by piece.)

  • Excellent deal. Commendation to MLN for having no cc surcharge (and reasonable shipping for laptops.)

A couple of Amazon reviewers mention serious trackpad issues, though — has anyone found this? Is there a fix?

    • I have been playing with the mouse pad for about 40 minutes now, and I have found the trick is to not actually apply too much pressure, as the left and mouse button are actually the the bottom left and right hand side of the touchpad, it is pressure sensitive.
You can also depress the entire mousepad as though it is one button aswell.
If you just run your finger across the touchpad it works great.
I think you need to understand how this touchpad works first, and then its very easy to use and it works well.
If you press really hard on the touchpad it does not respond, you just need to apply light or normal pressure for it to work fine.
      It works fine.

  • How well does integrated graphics on a laptop like this handle something like Sims 3?
