5.5% off Woolworths WISH eGift Cards and 8.0% off BIG W eGift Cards (Extended to June 30) @ Cashrewards

4860

Hi guys. 5.5% is now the best in-market discount for these eGift cards. This offer ends June 14, unless withdrawn earlier. I'm proud to say I personally got this over the line after a couple of weeks of negotiating with one of the biggest stores in the country. Don’t forget, these are WISH cards that can be used for purchases in-store & on-line at Woolworths, Dan Murphy’s, Masters, BWS, Cellarmasters and most Caltex Woolworths petrol stations. And to top it off, you're also getting an 8% saving on BIG W eGift cards for use on everything in-store, including Apple products and all the upcoming June sales!

Note you need to be logged into Cashrewards and click through to store to see the discounted cards.

5.5% off Woolworths WISH eGift Cards expired June 14
8.0% off BIG W eGift Cards extended to June 30

Have a great day :)

From Big W, yes you can.

  • -2

It's better to keep cash in my pocket. No deals!

  • Pardon my ignorance, but I haven't used it before and I have a few questions:

    • With eCard, do you have to enter a code each time you want to use it?
    • How long is the code typically?
    • Do you have to show your eCard at check-out counter when you use the assisted checkout and not self-checkout?
    • If you remember the code but you don't carry the card (email or jpeg in which it comes), it may be a bit difficult to tell the code to the checkout person for him/her to enter.
    • When you recharge the card with more amount, will the same discount applicable forever (i.e. which was applicable when you bought the card originally)?
    • +1

      Its a virtual gift voucher.
You tell the checkout person you want to pay with an egift voucher, and they press that option for payment. You can also do it on the self-checkout machines.
It takes 10 digits to type in the card terminal followed by a 4 digit pin, this is done on the credit card/debit card machine you'd use for normal card payments, just have to type it in instead of swiping a card.

Its non rechargeable, its a gift voucher not a reloadable credit/debit/gift card. So if you want 5.5% off, you needa buy the egift voucher before the deal ends, however do note its permanently on 5% off, so its an extra 0.5% off. Whether thats worth it to you is of your own concern.

      Uses of egift voucher include:
      - Opal recharge (you can get a fuel voucher too for recharges over $30)
      - Selected Woolworths owned petrol stations

For keeping the code, you can use the Woolworths Money app, it also checks the remaining balance on the egift "card".

      Hope that helps

      • Thanks, Cwongtech. Does Opal website accept them as one of the payment methods?

What do you do when it's the last transaction with limited amount remaining in it? Can you use two cards to complete the transaction?

Are there limits to how many cards (or amount) one can purchase in this offer?

        • +1

The woolworths egift voucher in this deal is ONLY usable within the Woolworths group.

You can do opal topup/recharges at the service counter desk of most Woolworths, the front desk where you buy phone vouchers, cigarettes, get your refunds and use egift voucher as the method of payment.

Treat this like a Woolworths paper gift card. You dont need to use up the balance in one go.

The opal website wont accept this as a form of payment.

Yes you can use combined payments to pay for anything at Woolworths, if you use the self serve you "confirm" the amount you want to deduct from the virtual egift voucher, so type whatever amount you want to use up then key in the voucher code and pin.

No limit to how much you want to purchase, however other ozb members are reporting a longer delivery time (from payment to egift voucher arriving in your Email) for large amounts ($100+)

Usually for $100 and under its 3-4 hours from payment to receiving your egift voucher.

The difference between the big w egift voucher is:
Woolworths egift voucher - can use at woolies, Dan murphys, big w, masters.
Big w egift voucher can ONLY be used at big w

        • @cwongtech:

Slight delay (a couple of days) doesn't matter if we are buying them to save money for the next few months. Great answer, mate. Btw, I didn't know that we can get Opal card recharged at Woolworths too! I always did it either online or at news agencies on train stations.

        • @virhlpool:
If you do it at woolies, you can use egift vouchers like these (save 5% at least), and generate a 4c fuel voucher! (petrols expensive)

        • @cwongtech: Yes, petrol is expensive in Australia. It was a shocker when I moved from the states.

        • @cwongtech: The only difference between eCard and physical one in this case is that you pay delivery charges with the physical one. Correct?

        • +1

@virhlpool: Apparently there is more difference than just delivery charges. I used to think they were the same in terms of versatility but it's been mentioned several times here that they're not.

        • @virhlpool:
          Yes for instore use.
No for petrol station use, StarMarts accept wish cards but not egift vouchers. Woolworths-Caltex Cobranded outlets accept egift vouchers for payment (http://www.woolworthspetrol.com.au/about-us/store-locator.ht…)
Some people have had success in converting eGift vouchers instore (paying for a wish card using an eGift voucher), but the official rules are not supposed to allow it.

        • @cwongtech:
To anyone reading the above comment - only StarMarts that accept 4c fuel vouchers will accept Wish Gift cards.

  • For the record, the site is working again. They seem to have fixed yesterday's problem with the payment screen.

    • Hmm doesn't look like it has

      • I managed to order one each Wish and Big W just before posting that, so maybe it was OK in the morning and then broke again in the arvo?

  • Thank you!!

  • Do Steam cards fall under the "Special Terms"?

    Bug found.
I got 8% Woolworths Gift Cards and 8% BIG W Store eGift Card.

not sure how exactly I did but some tips below.

    http://www.cashrewards.com.au/search/egift
open this page and click Big W and buy $100 x 1 and
open new tab to Woolworths website and copy and paste the link to the Big W page and choose the value and quantity.
I tried $300 x 1, did not work. Only $100 * 3 worked. maybe less or more qty works.
Play a bit as it worked to me.

Bought $400(1x$100 BigW and 3x$300 WISH gift card) and paid $368, $32 less.
    Received email confirmation.

    • Sorry, this page is not found.
However, we do have thousands of other stores to choose from.

      Is it over already D:

  • Why has the Big W card being removed early?

    • LouisP found the glitch to make Wish egift cards 8% off :(

      • I figured it must have been that.

  • So i want to buy a new Ipad and the Big W price is just market average however if i can save the 8% through the Egift cards then its the best price i can find.
So my question is i would need to use 3 x $423 egift cards to make the purchase though the online store(stock only available online), has anyone had any issues using multiple egift cards online? any feedback will be appreciated.

    • +1

Im trying to so this was Masters, will buy as soon as i receive the egift cards and let you know :)

Edit: Got my cards and they do stack.

  • Ordered yesterday at 1.30pm. Still have not received it yet. When i click into the order details from the email. Says payment pending. This happening with other people as well?

    Edit1: Should say i ordered a $500 card.

Edit2: Got onto them on Facebook and now it went from Pending to Processing to Awaiting Dispatch.

    • Had a similar issue. Nothing for a three days, then some request demanding two forms of scanned ID. I never asked for the hassle so they agreed to refund, which took 11 days (!) to reach my account.
      Let us know what happens.

      • They issued the cards within 2 hours after i contacted them on FB.

  • Still not having any luck even buying anything on the site, been trying since Tuesday night :(

  • tightarse, could you please enable the discount on Big W gift cards? Need to buy a few things from Big W today.

    • I believe TA set up the deal that lets Cashrewards members make a discounted Gift Card purchase, but it's Woolworths who actually sell the eGift cards.

So it's up to Woolworths if/when they put the Big W deal back on.

  • ordered this morning at 1:15am, $500 e-gift card was delivered at 1:50am

    • They travelled back in time to deliver it? Amazeballs.

      • Say wha? Isn't that 35 mins later? :)

        • It was edited. Pretty sure it read 1:15am -> 1:10am or something like that before.

        • @zzyss: no edits

When is the bigw ones back on?

  • 8.0% off BIG W eGift Cards(cashrewards.com.au) (Withdrawn temporarily by Woolworths)

    temporarily or permanent?

    • Forever, for now.

      • sigh…was seriously considering getting some the other day but I waited too long.

TA, would you please make a comment in the thread when the Big W cards become available again. I don't want to have to check the thread every few hours.

  • -4

after a couple of weeks of negotiating with one of the biggest stores in the country.

You would think being such a big store and driving such a long negotiation period that they would be able to honour their end of the deal.

It makes themselves and the cashrewards team look very unprofessional.

    • +3

There was an exploit, it seems they haven't been able to close the exploit, so they have to remove the offer.

    • +5

chill, stop playing the hero when you have absolutely no idea what goes on behind the scenes. The BIG W cards were withdrawn because Woolworths was able to replicate this bug. Once they fix it, they'll allow us to sell them again. It's out of my hands.

      • -3

Dear Tightarse….I am sorry…but I tend to agree with chill on this one. Let's not forget that you are our contact "behind the scenes" with this deal, and at the end of the day you are getting paid for it. You are only just NOW coming out and telling us what the issue is, and why the Big W deal was withdrawn, so, quite frankly, we are left guessing. And this DOES make the associated businesses look unprofessional, whether you like it or not. At the end of the day, the "bug" is the fault of Big W, or Cash Rewards, or someone else, but definitely not the consumer. Up until now, we have been left in the dark, which is quite frustrating.
Nonetheless, thanks for finally telling us what the holdup is.

        • +3

Although it wasn't stated at the time, it was quite obvious what the issue was and why the cards had to be withdrawn. The timing was just too close to the issue mentioned. Woolworths and Tightarse don't need to justify why the deal was suspended but it's considerate that they have revealed some of the issues. It was mentioned in the OP that the offer might be withdrawn earlier so it shouldn't come as a surprise or a shock that it was withdrawn.

        • -1

          @pointscrazy:

          1. If it "wasn't stated", how can it be obvious?
          2. I didn't for a second say it had to be "justified", (it does say in the offer it can be withdrawn at any time after all) but an explanation earlier would have been appreciated. I am not the only one that keeps checking to see when and if this offer will resume. Communication is a key factor promoting a professional business image. That is why people get very frustrated at an airport when a flight is cancelled and the paying passengers are kept in the dark with little or no explanation why.
          3. I'm not surprised or shocked it was withdrawn. I never said I was.
          4. I think its good to remember that Cash Rewards is a business. Tightarse (who gives some excellent deals to us all) is a paid part of that business. So I would have thought that more communication could have been expected, and it would have assisted with the professional image of the involved stores.
          5. Am I getting carried away? Absolutely. Should I shut up? Definitely.
        • @nortyjak:
          Ok.

        • +1

          @nortyjak:

          1. It was obvious if you had read the comments. If you hadn't, then it wouldn't have been obvious at all.
          2. I would somewhat agree with this. However, you make it sound like you've paid $X for this benefit/service and the service being offered to you is sub-par. What if I were to ask you.. what do they actually owe you and why do they owe you? Are they (CR, Big W/Woolies) under any obligation at all to inform you, me, or anyone else here what happened? Personally I don't think so.
          3. Ok.
          4. I agree. But we don't pay Tightarse. That's CR. It would be nice for him to come share the reasons ASAP but what is he, a computer that works off IF commands? IF(BigWGCs=Fail,PostonOzbargainthereasons,Saynothing)?? While I think yes it would definitely be nice of TA to have shared earlier, as I said he's not a computer (i.e. he can be busy with other things) or he may even be forbidden from saying things. He works for CR. Not for Ozbargain.
          5. Nah, feel free to talk. Just don't be an asshat (I'm not saying you have been so far, I'm just saying the moment anyone in a discussion becomes an asshat you can no longer discuss properly)
        • +2

          @illumination:

          haha- you are a champ!

          1. I agree.
          2. I agree…they owe me nothing…they offered a deal, and retracted it, and they are allowed to do that.
          3. As you pointed out, I am not yet a paying customer anyway. If I had bought something, eg: a gift card, and it was faulty or something, then and only then would perhaps I have half a reason to be upset.
          4. I agree. I forget that he works for CR, not ozbargain.
          5. Yes love a good discussion. And happy to be put in my place with some good logic. Thanks!
          6. Fully aware that this is first world problem etc and I am whining about nothing anyway.
        • @nortyjak:

          Sweet. lol.

P.s. didn't neg any of your comments in case you were wondering/curious

  • +3

Oh mighty Big W, please grace us with your mighty 8% egift card again, so that I may purchase of your LEGO deals that are in the catalogue that I wasn't sposed to see.

    • You mean like the LEGO Ghostbusters HQ exclusive for $475?

Kinda needs a gift card to make it more attractive, doesn't it. It's only $25 down from RRP, a mere 5%.

Even the 8% gift card only takes it to ~13%, which is still far away from a "real" LEGO discount of 20%.

I guess they'll sell their LEGO exclusives to someone at that price, but it's a bit disappointing Big W can't do better.

  • Is it possible to use the Wish eGift cards to buy other gift cards at woolies? Like Westfield gift cards?

    • +1

      Answered multiple already. Yes.

      • Thanks!

      • Can Big W eGift cards be used to buy Woolworths physical card?

        • +1

Your results will vary. The computer system will allow it however the staff need to process the gift card regardless of whether you use the self checkout or the normal checkout. The staff may refuse to put the transaction through. The result will vary from shop to shop and from staff member to staff member.

    • You can buy fixed/stored-value cards a lot more easily. They don't need staff to verify, and you can just buy them like any other product. The ones like Wish and Westfield where you can specify the value, and the card needs to be swiped to have the value written onto them, are the ones that you won't likely be able to get away with, because it requires staff intervention.

      • Westfield are a fixed value at Big W and Woolies of either 50 or 100.

  • Sorry to bother you all.

So, it is 5.5% off when I purchase an item using this e-card isn't it??
Not 5.5 % off when I buy this e-card through Cashrewards.

    Thanks!

    • +2

      It's 5.5% off the giftcard….

  • +10

BIG W eGift cards at 8.0% are available once again. Apologies for any inconvenience.

    • +1

      Thanks for letting us know.

    • Thanks for letting us know. Cheers.

  • Any chance you guys will fix the ssl issue?

    Vault security
Cashrewards operates bank-grade online security from VeriSign.

Once you login to your portal it switches back to normal http in ordinary circumstances. If someone sniffed the cookies they could effectively change the account you get paid to…

  • Am I able to use the egiftcard to purchase another gift card in store?

    • Yes, with various caveats around transaction limits (either by number or total value) depending on the gift card you're trying to purchase. There should probably be a Wiki page about this, given how often it gets asked.

  • The only unfortunate thing about the BigW cards is that they are only available in fixed values and start at 100.

  • for those that have purchased the Big W egiftcards already, how long did it take to arrive? thanks

    • +1

Mine took about 24 hours from the first email to the third email that finally had the egiftcard details.

      • Wow mine just came.. < 2 hour turnaround!

        • I put my order in a couple of hours after they re-released the Big W cards so I'm guessing there was a backlog.

  • Hi guys I just received my egift card via email and am going to buy physical card tomorrow, can I buy the regular woolworths gift card and use it at woolworths caltex? or should i be getting the woolworths caltex card because it has more participating stores (more choices)? I am new to this gift card system so i have no idea which one i should be getting tomorrow….

    • See my reply to your other comment.
      In a nutshell,
      - Woolworths eGift vouchers can be used to pay for fuel at selected Woolworths Caltex Petrol stations found through here: http://www.woolworthspetrol.com.au/about-us/store-locator.ht…
      - Wish Gift cards can be used to pay for fuel at all Woolworths Caltex Petrol stations (the ones that accept 4cents fuel vouchers)

  • Sorry if this has been asked before.

But is this the best discount on Gift Cards for Big W that one can find?

Thinking of stocking up for PS VR launch in October.

    • +1

Currently yes, historically no. Historical best would have been 10% off Big W Wish cards.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/225198
Was a Wish Gift card too, however some stores would place limits on how much you could purchase (Top Ryde only allowed 1 x $100 Gift card to be purchased, limited to 1 per person)

8% is very good. Up to you whether you want to gamble the current extra 3% (usually the eGift cards can be bought for 5% of face value), for extra 2%.
Don't think 10% off for BigW gift cards are common though.

      • Thanks for the advice cwongtech!

Decided to not roll the dice and get the 8%!

  • Could I buy a $200 Big W gift card from this offer (costing me $184) then use that inside a Big W store to purchase $200 worth of MYER gift cards?

    • The answer is "Yes, but…"

Big W has apparently instructed cashiers to say you can't do that, and whether it's legally true or not (the T&Cs only states you can't use Big W gift cards to buy "Woolworths issued gift cards" such as Wish cards) it will, 9 times out of 10, result in an argument.

(From personal experience buying JB Hi-Fi gift cards, the staffmember got very indignant, implied that I was trying to steal Big W's money, and it took a call to an equally stubborn manager to get them past. All while standing at the register feeling I was one step away from a security thug being called. How much is 8% really worth to you?!)

Some OzBargainers have recommended only trying it with fixed value gift cards, not the ones that have to have a value manually written on, and to take them through a self-serve checkout. They'll still need to be staff authorised by the self-checkout supervisor, but they might not be as bloody-minded about it, especially if it's busy.

If anyone can fill in the gaps about what you're legally entitled to insist on with these cards, please feel free.

  • +3

Thinking of grabbing $300 for the Xbox One deal. But it would suck if I miss out on stock and am stuck with $300 to spend at Big W… #ozbargain_problems

  • can I buy on the 14th? thats when i get paid for the big w giftcard deal

  • +1

Offer seems to have been extended to 21 June (per what it now says on the CashRewards site)

    • +1

BIG W has been extended to June 21. Woolworths ends tonight (Tuesday) 11:59pm.

      • Too risky the voucher won't get sent out before Thursday's sale.

      • What will it revert to after 21st?
        7.5% or the usual 5%?
In relation to the BigW egift cards

        • From June 21st, Cashrewards won't be selling BIG W eGift cards until they're made available again to us. You can however purchase WISH cards @ 5.0% for use at BIG W :)

  • Big thanks to the hard work of the people for making the 8% off Big W cards happen. I just ordered $500 and intend to buy the LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters with it :) (and if I cant find one, I will use the self checkout suggestion to buy MYER cards with my Big W cards and go buy some LEGO from MYER in their sale :)

  • For anyone thinking of going for the Big W gift cards, I placed the order at 8:23pm or so (and got the "thank you for placing an order" email then) and got the e-gift-card itself at 9:48pm.
I know where I am going tomorrow :)

  • Is there an issue with bigw gift cards tried to purchase tonight and shows no discount it wants to charge the amount you buy no 8% off??

    Anyone else find this?

  • ^
I get the same, no discount is shown

  • 24 hours ago the link worked now it's not deducting 8% off,

  • It's working again now.

  • Great i order bigw voucher for tomorrow still waiting but yet last ones i got within hrs.

    • Where is your vouchers when you need them still waiting almost 24 hrs later and was just seveeal hrs last time i did them.i want them before i head there in next 40 mins?

      • Did you receive your egift card after 24 hours?
