Thanks TA, you did it again.

Woolies are desperate. Let the supermarket price wars begin…..

    • So they cut their profit margin even more. I don't understand their logic.

      • What? It's business 101.
You sometimes accept losses (by lowering prices) to stimulate demand/get your name out/"give people a taster". You make it sound like only companies doing well (can afford to) offer promotions/giveaways. Not the case at all.

      • I guess it works out similar to a bond, you hand over your cash, you get a 5% return, only difference being you decide the term by the speed you use the gift card. They hold the money till you use the gift card and purchase goods. Add up everyone who buys a gift card or 7 and you get a sizeable stack of cash. Not that it matters much these days anyway with low interest rates.

  • Thanks TA!

  • Great job! 😄

  • -5

Thanks TA, are BIG W eGift Cards exclusive to use at BIG W only?

    • yes or you want to buy and then return for a return card to use in Woolowrths

BuUt someone have experience this and being stopped to go into the store.

      • I've used the BIG W eGift Cards bought on previous Groupon deals at Masters, Woolworth without any issue, was wondering if they made any change of the usage.

        Please don't be this guy.

        • +1

          That guy ..LEGEND!!

  • I just bought mine yesterday, missed the deal by one day :o
thanks for the deal, I have been using the website for my grocery shopping now

    • +6

      Same, bought $400 yesterday :(
      That's a $2 difference!!!

  • -6

    This is amazing. Thanks TA!

  • Can these be used for fuel? Please pardon my ignorance.

    • +9

      5.5% Yes 8% No

      • Thanks. Can't believe I didn't notice it in the description. Must be Monday.

    • Wish cards at Woolies Caltex, BigW cards noooo…

    • Not all Caltex Woolworths will accept it. Personally I came across 2 that don't. (they accept 4c woolies discount though)

      • That's why i purchase physical gift cards with egift cards: better acceptance.

        • That doesn't sound right. AFAIK they are exactly the same in terms of acceptance.

        • +2

          @illumination:
If it has a Star Mart only physical cards.

If it has a Woolies store then EGifts are also usable.

        • +1

          @illumination:
          Incorrect.

          From Caltex:

Please note that eGift cards (electronic vouchers) are not accepted at Caltex owned and operated petrol outlets. For details, see full terms and conditions.

Woolworths WISH and Essentials Gift Cards are redeemable at participating stores only, see everydaygiftcards.com.au for participating stores.

They used to have a filter for stores that accepted gift cards but they got rid of the functionality in the updated website.

        • @brisdaz: Yep I'm aware now (many other people mentioned the same thing)

    • Not all Caltex Woolworths will accept it.

No Caltex Woolworths will accept the egift card.

Only the Woolworths branded fuel outlets will accept the egift card.

Buy a physical Caltex Woolworths card at Woolies with the egift card and use that at Caltex Woolworths.

      • So, buy this 5.5% off egift card from this cashreward link, then use it at at woolies for the phsical card? am i correct?

        • +2

Correct. However you may need to try a few woolies checkouts to do this, some staff won't allow it (buying wish gift card with egift), some don't give a crap.

You will need a store attendant to process the Wish gift card for you (at the self-checkout anyway)

A good excuse if questioned: My old mother/father doesn't know how to use the eGift cards.

        • @cwongtech: oh thanks for the old mother father tips!

        • @cwongtech: Hi I just received my card via email and was wondering which card should i be getting at physical store? I want to use it at woolies for groceries and petrol at caltex. Can the regular woolies gift card be used at woolies caltex petrol stations? thank you

        • +2

          @qwertyaz:

which card should i be getting at physical store

Go to the Gift card section, the "Wish" gift card is what you need, it doesn't have a fixed value on it so you will need a store attendant to process it for you (even at self-checkout), some will allow you to pay with eGift voucher, some will not (the system doesn't reject it)

I want to use it at woolies for groceries

You don't need to convert a Woolworths eGift voucher if you want to use it purely for groceries at Woolworths or any purchases at Masters/Dan Murphys/BigW.

Can the regular woolies gift card be used at woolies caltex petrol stations? thank you

If it accepts 4cents woolworths fuel vouchers, it will definitely accept physical Wish Gift cards, however it might not accept eGift voucher (what you received in your email).
If you want to use a Woolworths eGift voucher (without converting instore to Wish Gift card) to pay for petrol, you need to check here whether your desired petrol station is a Woolworths owned petrol station as only those have the option to pay with eGift voucher.
          http://www.woolworthspetrol.com.au/about-us/store-locator.ht…

Hope that answers your question. Feel free to ask more questions.

        • @cwongtech: thanks for the super detailed reply here!!!to simplify the processes, i think i will just get the WISH GIFT CARD and load $500 in it at the store ( for groceries and petrol). i guess you will have to enter the card number and pin each time when you make purchases with the egift card right? So i think converting it into physical card would save me more time in a long run, although it will increase the chance of losing it…

        • @qwertyaz:

i think i will just get the WISH GIFT CARD and load $500 in it at the store ( for groceries and petrol).

To do that you're gona need to have a $500 eGift voucher to pay for that Wish Gift card!

i guess you will have to enter the card number and pin each time when you make purchases with the egift card right?

Yes you do, for eGift voucher it's 10 digits for the card number, followed by 4 digit pin.
Physical (Woolworth's Wish Gift) card's Swipe replaces the 10 Digit eGift Voucher number, but still requires 4 digit pin.

        • @qwertyaz: If your worried about losing it just record the PIN and long card number on the back. At least then you could still use the remaining balance online.

Wish we could get a discount on Coles gift cards also

    • +2

True! I have a Coles & a Woolies side by side, and Coles fresh fruit & Vegs are consistently better priced (even after 5-ish% discount), and fresher. Also I have 2 Woolies stores about 3 ks apart, and those Woolies stores' fruit & veg prices can be different on the same day!

      • So true! No matter how many efforts Woolies put, Coles wins hands down when it comes to produce. I wonder why Woolies can't source them from the similar places and offer similar discounts!

Can you buy mobile recharge vouchers at BigW?

  • I can't login properly to everydaygiftcards.com.au it says Hi!

Do I have to register a new account ?

You need to read the bold letters in the original post that clearly say what you should be doing.

Note you need to be logged into Cashrewards and click through to store to see the discounted cards.

      • -3

You need to read my post properly

  • +1

Sorry for the lame question, but how can we use a Egift card in petrol stations? Do we show the egift card voucher on mobile or should we take a physical printout?

    • +13

I have the app on my phone, "Woolworths Money", everytime just input the card number and pin into the eftpos machine, works like a charm and it allows you to keep track of it too.

      • +1

Oh that sounds much easier! I've been storing the pdf on my phone and updating the name of the file with the current balance.

        • Haha that's what I do but on Google Drive.

      • great tip!

      • Awesome tip! Thanks :)

        • You guys love the tip hey? Lol

      • So, does the scanner scan the app screen basically so that you don't have to enter the number manually?

        • Nah you still gotta enter the card number and pin manually. The convenience is knowing how much you have left on the card.

    • +1

Tell em you have an e-gift card, they'll change the console to let you input the code. I also use the Woolies Money app to keep track. :)

    • My local petrol station doesn't allow egift cards for some reason; so always handy to check.

  • Sorry if this question has been asked before, but can we use this to buy a fee free eftpos/loadable mastercard from woolies?

    • don't think so. give it a shot tho

  • Ta TA!

  • awesome stuff….
wish it was active 7 hours ago when I bought my $500 voucher for this week!

      • +7

        What site are we on?

      • +9

        Still $27.5 savings.

        • +6

It's actually $2.50 extra savings. He would have got his 5% anyway. If not he wouldn't have had to but a gift card to start with.

        • @trev likes bargains: It's hard to tell. OP made no mention of any discount and Devang153 said "5.5%" not something like "the extra 0.5%". So my point stands :)

        • @happychild100: technically by him saying "wish it was active 7 hours ago" implies he was using the site to make the purchase. If he said "wish this deal was posted 7 hours ago" you may have had a point :-)

    • +3

Damn! I bought a $500 last night at 5% off. I could have saved another $2.50 if only I had waited.

      • Such a loss! :)

  • +14

You can also used ING Direct 2% cash back and buy the 5% discount gift card at RACV stores. It ended up with 6.95% discount gift card.

    • This works at RACT too

    • +1

They have paywave now do they? I guess I usually buy afew hundred worth which would make paywave real annoying.

      • Yeah my country RAA also has this… they're ok with splitting to $100 transactions. :)

        • +2

          but ING may get upset

        • -3

ING rebate is maxed at $100 worth of paywave transactions per day. Splitting multiples of $100 will have no benefit beyond the first $100 transaction

        • @4agte: where are you seeing this limit? I've certainly received more than $2 worth of paywave cashbacks in a single day.

        • +1

          @4agte:
i am laughing so hard when reading your comment. can confirm to you guys that there is no maximum cash back limit per day. cheers

        • @4agte:

          Definitely not… http://i.imgur.com/4foAASJ.png - a $250 card purchased at $95, $95 and $47.50, with the associated cashback.

        • @abb:

I guess so if you're buying a load… I'll take my chances with a $250 card every now and again. :O Probably helps I only use it for paying for Petrol, as I get my groceries elsewhere.

    • +2

NRMA (NSW) seems to be online purchase only. Anywhere you can buy Woolies gift cards with Paywave in NSW?

That's why the usually 5% off for these cards doesn't thrill me that much. It's only 3% over the 2% ING cashback, which I lose, so kind of meh.

      • 3x American Express Membership rewards points per dollar as well though, whatever that's worth.

        • About 0.7c a point, so about $3.30 worth of points for a $500 gift card, so the 2% cash back is better value AND you get a real card. Will require driving to a store, in which case the price difference ($3.70) to drive 30km there and back (what it'll take me) is not really worth it (and the time, etc).

        • @kwchaz: I was responding to the comment about it only being 3% over the ING cashback - with this deal it's 5.5% saving PLUS 3x points/$ (including on petrol which would normally be only 2x).

        • @fowl:
          I've done my maths wrong…

5.5% cashback with triple amex points: $472.50, with $9.9225 in points, end cost of $462.5775 for a $500 gift card
5% cashback at road side assist with 2% extra off for ING: $465.50

          That's better… :O

        • @kwchaz: You would need to drive to store anyway whether you pay through gift card or not.

        • @virhlpool:
No to buy the gift card.

        • @kwchaz: Ok. So you're saying you can buy it online and still use it.. Aah.

      • 3% loss is $15 a $500. Not less.

    • What's RACV, RACT?

      • C'mon, you can Google that! Hint: They are a motoring clubs for Victoria and Tasmania (roadside assist, advocating for motorists, information centres, etc). Their equivalents would be NRMA (motoring bit) in NSW, RACQ in QLD, RAC WA in WA, RAASA in SA, and AANT in the NT. Generally they all offer reciprocity (i.e. when interstate, can use their services like a local member as long as home state membership is still valid).

        • Cool.. NRMA also sells insurance.. right? Not just motoring club or info centre.

    • Which gift card to buy at RACV with 5% discount and where all does it work? I don't know abt it.

  • Thanks TA, appreciate the effort you put into these things

  • +1

+1 to the fact that you are passing almost all the savings to the community. I know how much maximum they are discounted to bigger multi-national perk sites which have more than 500K members.

    • +5

Care to share for interests sake?

    • How much?

  • Oh spuin I stocked up at 12 midday today and it was 5% :(

  • thanks. Good effort!
