Yeah it says starts Thur in post and also says it in dates :)

      at Masters.

Interested seeing if bunnings counter offers?

    • This

      • +2

        Ryobi ?

        • +2

          Plus one for the One+

        • @spillmill: Would love that.

        • +1

Bunnings don't discount Ryobi as counter offers to Masters deals.

They don't need to, because the One+ fanbois are already "locked in".

        • +2

@llama: They dont have to, but they have in the past.
They have done it in the past when Same brand power tools went on sale at masters ( line trimmer, blower, etc.).

        • @Gaggy:

They dont have to, but they have in the past

Could you show me a link to a deal where Bunnings have dropped price of One+ in response to a Master deal?

They have done it in the past when Same brand power tools went on sale at masters ( line trimmer, blower, etc.).

Of course, however that's not the same thing. You are talking about Price Match (find a lower price on a stocked item and we'll beat it by 10%) - but that's not what we are discussing here.

Ryobi One+ is a "house brand" and it's not available anywhere else. So there can never be a cheaper price elsewhere.

Also, Bunnings tries to lock suppliers into unique Part Numbers and/or product configurations so that Bunnings don't need to drop margin each time an opposition company has a special.

        • @llama: I never said pricematch. Dis i. Someone said counter offer.
Look here for old Deals posted for ryobi. I confirmed their staff members for one ofnthe deals in store that they were matching price of another store similar item as other retailers dont sell it.
If you feel otherwise, ignore comments.

        • @llama:

Yep, there was a special on the leaf blower, was on ozbargain that I heard about it.

        • @Gaggy:

Look here for old Deals posted for ryobi.

I already did, and I can't find any where Ryobi One+ are offered as counter offer against a Masters or other deal from opposition retailer. I've been a member here for a very long time and I don't recall ever seeing such a thing.

I confirmed their staff members for one ofnthe deals in store that they were matching price of another store similar item

Yeah, sure you did. Did you post it here as a deal so other members could benefit?

If you feel otherwise, ignore comments

I'll class that as confirmation that you cannot show us where this kind of discounting of One+ has happened.

I am happy to be proved wrong,

        • +1

          @spillmill:

Yep, there was a special on the leaf blower, was on ozbargain that I heard about it.

Thanks for supporting my point. That WAS NOT a discount as result of a counter-offer to a Masters deal on a different brand.

Perhaps your memory has faded? Re-read >> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/228660

        • @llama: Bunnings don't give discounts or deals. They price match like Dan Murphy who never say the matched a price, but you can see that when they decrease the price after other retailers have done that.
That was a counter offer which I confirmed in store from bunnings as I could not find anyone selling Ryobyi. Not sure what you are looking after. A written certificate from Bunnings?

        • @spillmill: Yes, that was to match one of the deal.

        • -1

          @Gaggy:

Bunnings don't give discounts or deals. They price match

I have no idea what you are talking about.

They price match like Dan Murphy who never say the matched a price

Bunnings price matches ONLY IF it is the exact same product.

you can see that when they decrease the price after other retailers have done that.

They sometimes reduce prices to stir up Masters. They might offer a different brand at a slightly cheaper price… usually on Friday evenings.

That was a counter offer which I confirmed in store from bunnings as I could not find anyone selling Ryobyi.

Yeah, and so what? How or why is it relevant to this discussion?

I will make it simple for you, since you don't seem to be following the thread very well. We are talking about the chances of Bunnings discounting Ryobi One+ tools as a counter-offer to Masters having a cheap deal on a Black and Decker cordless pack.

I am saying that it probably won't happen, and it almost certainly never happens. I'm saying that there's virtually zero chance there will be a discount on Ryobi One+ simply to match a Master deal on another brand.

You reply by saying you negotiated a in-store price reduction or something or other. That is nice, but not what others are hoping for nor what I am trying to explain.

        • +1

@llama: Not sure why u r trolling this much. See my comment and few other users on this page:
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/228660?page=5#comment
As I said previously, I asked Bunnings Staff members at that time and they confirmed that Bunnings were matched similar B& D products by lowering Ryobi. I never price matched them at store, they were at that price.
Not sure are why are you acting dumb.

        • -1

          @Gaggy:

Not sure are why are you acting dumb.

          There's a saying about arguing with idiots…

Tell you what - when Bunnings drop the price on Ryobi One+ Drills as a counter-offer to this Masters deal, you just pop back here and post a Ozbargain Deal.

          OK?

        • +2

          @llama: "There's a saying about arguing with idiots…"
Tell me about it. Glad you accepted it yourself.

        • +1

          @Gaggy:

Sorry guys, only just got back with the popcorn :)

        • @spillmill:

There's no way they'll counter with Ryobi. Ozito maybe. This is a $199 kit (originally) after all.

Considering B&D is a brand sold at Big W, I wouldn't expect too much.

    • +1

Probably not unfortunately. I'd say that this is part of the Masters going out of business sale.

  • +1

Cheers OP, that B&D kit will come in handy for gardening…

  • +2

    Black & Decker 18V Li-ion 4 Piece Kit includes
    2 x 1.5Ah Li-ion battery, 1 Charger, bag
    Drill
    Reciprocating Saw
    Circular Saw
    Torch (70Lm)

    • +1

Anyone know if this B&D is any good? In terms of power etc.?

      • +6

Black and decker, dewalt, fat Stanley. All same company. One is DIY range the other is professional grade.

        • OK thank you :-)

        • can i assume b&d is the diy range?

        • @alwayseric:
Yeah abit like Bosch green. Perfectly capable though.

        • @Frozensage: i may or may not only need the drill, but i want the whole kit now :p the closest masters is like 20km from my place :(

        • @alwayseric: delivery?

      • +3

B&D is the DIY range. From my personal experience with the previous 18v 'Matrix' line, the drill driver has really low torque figures (easy to stall) and starts to smoke badly after driving about 3 65mm screws into pre-drilled timber. Furthermore the battery will overheat well before it flattens (so your effective capacity is much lower).

For comparison, my Stanley Fatmax did the same task without fuss.

        • Thanks for this comment, got the Fatmax for $139 on the previous deal and haven't opened it yet, was thinking about taking it back for this, sounds like I'm better off with what I have?

        • +1

          @yacman:

The kits are quite different (impact driver vs circular and reciprocating saws) and so difficult to compare but I'd stick with the Stanley. From drill specs alone you can tell. the B&D drill has a 3/8" chuck and can do a max 28nm torque whereas the Stanley has a 1/2" chuck and can twist about 50nm.
But the best part of the Stanley kit is the impact driver which has decent grunt. The Stanley is perhaps semi-pro (not tradie-spec though) whereas the Black & Decker is firmly DIY. Look at the circular saw blade - 5.5" is pretty small, even the Ryobi is bigger.

  • +2

Are they actually closing stores or have they just figured out how to have sales?

    • +19

? They've always had sales. Not like bunnings. Will miss masters if they shut

      • +2

They used to just do the generic 10% off storewide with a woolies receipt

        • They used to just do the generic 10% off storewide with a woolies receipt

They have always had sales and decent deals in their catalogues unlike Bunnings.

      • +2

When they shut, it will happen, no one wants the business, only the buildings.

    • +1

Yeah, they're closing. They haven't given a final date yet but they terminated the contract on a few new stores they were building and Woolies confirmed that they are shutting down Masters.

      • +1

I thought this also, but then I read something, which on the face of it, sort of lended itself to maybe being clever wording by WW. IIRC, one of their statements, because they're may have been more than one officially about them closing, basically said that they were unable to continue operating at a loss. I guess, if the business somehow improved, maybe they'd reconsider not closing all of their stores. That they weren't opening newer locations, without a statement directly stating that they were going to definitely close, wouldn't be a definite sign of their intended forfeiture of the business.

      • Woolies confirmed that they are shutting down Masters.

        When did they confirm this?

        • Back in January. What they actually said was that they would try to sell Masters and if that failed then they would shut it down as it has been operating at a loss with no sign of improving.

        • @GunnerMcDagget:

Back in January. What they actually said was that they would try to sell Masters and if that failed then they would shut it down as it has been operating at a loss with no sign of improving.

So why did you say that Woolworths was shutting down Masters? They are talking to a number of interested parties at the moment and no decision has been made so to spread mistruths at the moment is not fair on the employees.

  • Where Can I get link to the catalogue

    • There isn't one yet, prob Wed night it will be up

      • How did u find out these sales tho? I want the Bosch mower so always looking forward to seeing their catalogie

        • Catalogues in the mail, if the Bosch Mower is in store then 10% off should apply

    • +1

Just got the catalogue in the mail today. Unfortunately no Bosch mower in there.

Not many other standout items for me but may be for others.
      Teak Decking 50% off to $4.99 l/m
Dyson DC37C Origin $397. Has been cheaper.
      DeWalt Hammer & Impact 14.4v 2x2.0Ah kit $239 save $60.

There is 20% off full Bailey range of ladders. Looks like online only. Feel free to add to post.

      • well thanks :( I will keep waiting then

      • Hi MJD682, the Bailey's range of ladders is available instore and online. You will find there is a wider range online.

  • BOOM! For those who managed to grab the 18V B&D Drill from the Catch of the Day deal last year (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/213381) the 4-piece kit in this deal looks to use the same Batteries. Whoop-whoop!

  • +1

That B&D kit seems like incredible value. Don't really need it, but might have to get it. Doesn't hurt having 2 brands of kits I suppose, more choice when I need to buy a new tool.

Is the current $199 the standard price or discounted? Seems like great value even before additional 50% off, or am I missing something?

  • According to the solitary review on Masters website, the reciprocating saw may be inferior to that Triton deal I missed a few weeks ago.

  • +8

well done masters, keep it up!

  • Would any one know if I can use these 18v batteries to my 20v B&D drill ?

    • No, they are different voltages

      • Wishful thinking of mine as I bought 20V DIY kit from US but can't find batteries locally now. Thanks.

      • +6

I wouldn't bet on it. The Stanley 18v range is the same as the Porter Cable 20v range in the US. 20v is just marketing BS.

    • see if you can take your tool in and try the battery looking at pictures there's no reason i can see for it to not fit and work most likely marketing hype as the structure of the batteries doesn't allow for a 2v cell :)

    • +2

I'd say yes, 18V is a nominal voltage for 5 LiPo cells in series (5x3.7V) but fully charged it will measure close to 20V

    • +3

Yes you can, assuming the batteries are physically the same shape. I bought a 20V matrix B&D drill from the states a couple of months back. The 18v batteries work in the new drill and the 20v batteries work in my old drill and charger. As has already been said it just marketing BS. They actually refer to them as "20v max*" and if you manage to track down the asterisk you'll find it says 18v nominal.

      • Certain countries regulate how batteries voltages be marketed.

USA doesn't have those regulations, so an 18v nominal battery that can hold a charge safely at 20v can be sold as a 20v product.

  • +2

Gezz. Dunno what to do now. I've been looking to get a reciprocating saw. I was waiting for the Stanley fatmax 18v one to come on sale to compliment the rest of the range I have.. But it'll be more expensive than buying the black and decker kit.

  • Rare for one of these sets to have 3 things that I don't have (well, I already have a drill but a second one is very useful). Two batteries is also very good, I'll be lining up on Thursday.

    • +3

You don't have to wait if you are keen.. Masters has a 30 day best price guarantee policy, so when the price drops they will be more than happy to refund the price difference just by showing them the receipt.

      • I did that to my mower, no questions asked!

      • They refused to do that with me 6 weeks ago. Said they don't honour their own sales

        • +2

Then another channel is to purchase your items with a credit card that has a best price scheme such as 28 degree mastercard, and then claim the price difference as a credit back onto your card.

        • +4

What if u told them u will buy the same item and return it with the old receipt. Or to save everyone abit of time they can refund you the diff.

        • @feihong: would that include clearance/deleted item sales though?

        • +1

@yacman: I am not sure about the deleted items, but 28 degree's T&C does not seem to exclude them as long as you can establish the evidence if required. See here:

          https://assets.latitudefinancial.com/legals/product-disclosu…

  • Hopefully there's enough in stock. I can feel a bait/switch coming….

    • +4

Why? Usually masters have absolutely heaps of Stanley, B&D etc when they run specials.

  • Are these just normal sales?

Or is this part for the Fire Sale??

    • +2

      Normal sale

  • -1

Time to get a Bosch blue 160mm Circular saw.

  • Nice!

  • -3

The Bosch blue 165mm circular saw is now $179. Previously $149.

    $149 at Bunnings

I'm sure it's a fine deal but I've been eyeing these for months and they have definitely jacked the price up on this product.

  • +2

I found the same kit in amazon with tons of reviews.
Just ignore the 20 volt marketing BS. It's essentially same product as 18V one.

    http://www.amazon.com/Decker-BDCD2204KIT-20-Volt-Lithium-Ion…

  • +1

Showing up as $199 for me in Northmead and Chullora. :(

    Edit: Starts Thursday!

    • +1

      DOH !!!

  • +3

    Some offers start today
    I just bought Black & Decker 18V Li-ion 4 Piece Kit at $99

    • me 2…..

    • Yep, same here.

    • Not at all stores by the looks. Just walked out of Everton Park (QLD) store empty handed as they were still scanning at $199ea. Asked why as others have been getting them for $99 but the checkout chick said they're not $99 until tomorrow.

Reconsidering now anyway because the tools really do look like toys. I already have the same drill but really nice to have two on the go plus the extra batteries make it worthwhile for $99… but the saws just seem woefully underwhelming. Torch could be handy tho I suppose. Hmm, need to think about it a bit more…

      • +1

Think about the jobs you will use it for.

Do you really need anything more?

If yes then get it anyway because it's a bloody good bargain considering you get 2x batteries and a charger (which cost $100 alone).

        • +1

Damn you c0balt, you just made me buy two packs online :)

        • +1

          @SteveAndBelle:

You can keep you OZB membership now :P

  • +1

Yeah, I like a good deal as much as the next guy but had a look today and walked away.
Seemed to be a whole new level of cheap and nasty that I had not seen before.
My ozito/bunnings cheapy battery drill appears far better quality and at least has some size and weight to it
These are small and very light, which to me with motors and batteries involved says shite.

Its a shame because I have a B&D circ saw that must be 30 years old now and its copped some serious abuse over the years in the building game.

  • +1

Just bought the B&D kit online for $109 delivered.

    Cheers.
