  • Dude flogging it on eBay for $169 shipped. I messaged the seller saying Masters is selling it for $99 and if they can "price match". Haven't got a response since.

Dude flogging it on eBay for $169(ebay.com.au) shipped. I messaged the seller saying Masters is selling it for $99 and if they can "price match". Haven't got a response since.

So what? Plenty of people can't get to a Masters store and given he is paying ebay fees, paypal fees and postage who cares if he makes a few dollars off what is still a deal at $169.

Why can't people mind their own business?

    • +2

Wonder how much profit he will get once eBay+PayPal fees are factored in, and the time/effort to ship it.

If he's lucky he might get a decent burger for a profit.

I must be in the minority thinking it's a perfectly fine way to earn a dollar anyway.

      • $20 to $30 profit per my calc.

  • Ordered one online this morning and received sms already saying it has left the store.

    Surprise, surprise.

  • No price matching yet from Bunnings with an equivalent like Ryobi

    • I'd bet my left nut they won't even get close to matching a 4x pack of skins, 2x batteries and a charger from Ryobi.

      The 18v drill + 2 1.5ah batteries for $99 was a super popular deal.

Great got one even though I really don't need it. Too good to pass up. Especially if you factor in the 5% wish card + 2% cashrewards it's down to $92!!! I'll probably end up flogging it on gumtree for $200 LOL if my Mrs kicks up a stink. It's amazing the number of people on GT who don't actually check prices online. They just assume it's gumtree so it must be cheap especially when they have 'negotiated' $10 off. Oh well.

    • your username suggests you're a regular gummie

  • Hard decision.

Bought the dewalt 14.4 drill + driver the other week. Was waiting for the recip saw to go on special.

Now i cant decide if i should buy the dewalt skin only for ~$120 or get this 18v kit for $99 as the circular saw would come in handy for ripping some ply sheets down to size.

Seems to be out of stock in my local masters. Have to go further afield.

Many at Oakleigh South, VIC today.
    Circular is suprisingly great.
    Reciprocating is not too shabby.
    Drill is pretty bad.
Torch is…well…I feel like i'm wasting an 18V battery if it's sitting in a torch.

  • Plenty left at Northmead

  • The circular really slices through the pine.
    Drill looks cheap
Reciprocating saw seems robust but haven't given it a run yet.
    Included charger is very slow.

I got this unit as the batteries can be made to fit the Stanley Fatmax line with a bit plastic trimming. Cheap batteries, and the extra skins are useful too!

    • how's the drill comparing to the fatmax? Can the fatmax battery be used on these without any modifications?

      • +2

The Black and Decker drill feels like a toy. Single speed, plastic 10mm chuck, small and light (840g). 28nm torque is reasonable for an entry level drill. It should be enough for assembling Ikea furniture but the no-load speed is slow for drilling (650rpm).

Conversely, the Stanley Fatmax drill has two speeds, a metal 13mm chuck, is about 50% heavier and physically larger and has nearly twice the torque(!). There's no real comparison between the drills.

None of these batteries can be interchanged without any modification - the manufacturer (Stanley Black & Decker) has deliberately moulded the plastic slightly differently so you need to do some minor modifications. However electrically they are compatible.

        • To fit the Fatmax battery into the B&D you need to cut one or two blocking tabs off the top of battery - see http://i.imgur.com/PzWn7pn.jpg
        • To fit the B&D battery into the Fatmax you need to extend the slide rail by cutting into the plastic moulding. You also need to notch out the start of the slide rail to match the Fatmax. Alternatively you can modify the drill receptacle.
          See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFtqMi642Gg

I haven't done these mods myself yet but probably will down the track. I'd like to use the Stanley fast charger to charge the B&D batteries.

        • Thanks heaps for the info.
I will be okay with using the batteries as they are but only using the Fatmax charger.

        • The whole kit feels like toys tbh, especially the joke of a circular saw.

Hi I bought this Black and Decker kits today and modified the batteries slightly so the 18v Fatmax batteries from the Masters deal last month can be used with all the Black and Decker tools and also the Black and decker batteries can be charged using the faster Stanley Fatmax charger.

Here are the instructions I have made:

Never seen so many orange price match / beat tickets at Bunnings before. Bunnings are even price matching some items that aren't the same brand. Just have a look in the plumbing (PVC) aisle. Picked up a new HPM RCD/USB box for work. Price matched at bunnings for $81 down from $127.50. Loving these sales.

    • what did they price match for this b&d kit?

      • Didn't specifically check but did my usual walk through the tool shop and didn't notice anything special. I bought the RCD at 5pm Friday and they still hadn't changed the shelf price at 6pm on Saturday. I wonder if they aren't matching some items due to it being a better caculated risk to lose more on a couple of sales than lose a little on a lot of sales.

  • delivery is unavailable! the closes store is in masden park, 40km away. miss it :(

    • Plenty at Rouse Hill & Northmead

      • their website shows out of stock everywhere. did you see plenty there today?

        • Yes a whole pallet @ Rouse Hill

  • Gave the saw another run in some thicker timber. Disappointingly it was quite easy to stall. Depth of cut is also pretty short, around 40mm. Not enough for a standard 2x4. Would be good for ply but not much more than that.

  • I cannot believe what happened.

I ordered it and had it delivered to my office. It was received today and I brought this box of 10kg+ parcel to my home with at least 30mins of walking. When I arrived home I found out they got the order wrong and instead they gave me 3 basin mixer (?!)

I honestly think that this is not a genuinely mistake as someone did open the box and inspect it, with signatures showing it was being reviewed. It is more like some hopeless employee realised he missed out the deal and then swapped out my order. He really took an effort having the box showing "Triton Cordless Set" sticker put on the box outside.

Seriously not happy, and as I do not live close to Gregory Hill shop so no way I will bring it back to the shop or bring back office waiting for return.

Whoever got this "mixed up", nicely done.

    • +1

It isn't that good of a deal people would go out of their way to do that.

    • lol doubt that someone went thru that effort for what is essentially a toy kit. May be the mixer is worth more (10kg sounds like an expensive mixer). Just take it back and exchange it. You may even make some $$$ out of it.

      • Either way, some geniuses working at Masters screwed up my order and i am not getting my stuff as it is sold out everywhere and i have to organise pickup for them. I will definitely not bringing in 10kg of stuffs back to office involved with 30mins walk just for their pickup.

I called them and they seems to care more about getting back the mixers rather than getting me the product i ordered.

Those Mixers are made in china btw.

        • What is the model number of the mixer?
How much does it sell for at masters?….

How much could YOU sell it for!

Can you see where we're going with this?

  • Someone already has one of these on ebay for $330!! Funnily enough if you leave it there long enough some shmuck will eventually buy it. I've seen time an again exorbitant stuff on ebay that seems to sell eventually.

  • Has anyone looked into getting replacement blades for the circular saw?
