BitDefender has been awarded consecutively for the fourth year for its virus detection engine. Total Security 2016 is a comprehensive package with all round protection modules including basic antivirus, Firewall, Parental control and best in class vulnerability scanner. Zero Performance Impact.
It seems like they don't do that anymore. Trying to slowly convert customers to revenue.
Even doing sneaky things like blocking access to the free version webpage if you have a free-trial of a paid-version installed. It takes to an "offer" page. Not sure if through the firewall or cookies.
The 9 month trial was enough for me to work out I didn't want that buggy headache on my machine anymore. Can't fault the protection. Not aware of a virus during the time I used it. But it blocked access to various things, the UI would let you add exceptions then not honour them etc. Just a real headache to work out what was wrong. It doesn't surprise me if they are indeed doing dodgy things. Who needs a virus when your antivirus is working against you?
I'm actually happier with the free version. Protection without all the extras and "features"s

I've moved to the free version of Avira after 9 months of Bitdefender bugs and forced restarts.
Come on BitD…how about another 6 - 9 months free?
