  • I think we pay about $15 per year to access it.

  • Kids in kindy will this be suitable or only older ages?

kindy might be s stretch but mine was using in grade 1.

My son is in Kindy and it is good (and I'm a maths teacher as well) It has some very good visual activities which they can move things around on the ipad to help develop their understanding. Be aware that not every activity works on the ipad so some need to go to a PC. I sit down and read the instructions to him and help him with the activities. Don't expect it to be an activity you can give to your child and walk away from. If you are prepared to sit down and do 20 mins a night 2 or three nights a week and work with your child, it's a good investment.

    • our school had mathletics from kindy and bug club also.

I'm a recently retired teacher and kids at my school were able to use their Mathletics school log on at home for free. So check with your local school. Also watch out because I can remember when my daughter used it in grade 6 or year 7. She was using it at home and asked me something like, "Mum, isn't 7x8=56?" I confirmed and she said, "Well Mathletics says it's wrong." I checked, and yes, she was correct and Mathletics wrong. As a teacher I really liked learning the old tables by singing them and once you knew them, you always have them and division comes along too. So my best advice is save the money and do little table challenges at home.

  • Does anyone have reviews of this? Especially compared to other products?

    • looks wise tenmarks.com was probably most impressive for me. However its for USA (while content is still ok for early primary school) , only catch was that you cant just buy subscription and limitations (such as what content you can choose) were quite bad.

IXL.com.au is another contender, it is really boring, and dull. really nothing but a repeat drill tasks and kids just hated them. A single session, you're aiming to reach 100 points, but when you reach over 90, for any mistake it will penalise you like 8-10 points while when you mistake before reaching 90, you get only like 2-3 points penalties. So my kids may reach 90 and start screaming for any mistake they make and be frustrated. I did subscribe for a month, and didnt continue as "resistance" from kids were just too bad.

these days, I simply print out drills from math-drills.com, and www.homeschoolmath.net. and go through them with kids. Its not fancy, but its free!

    • my daughter has mathlectics and mathseeds also. she likes mathseeds better as its more fun for her to do.
