cos it was 30% off all car audio sale. but yeah $71.40 @ pre-xmas was the best.

        • If you go through the comments you can see most of them were interested in this unit.

  • I bought this last week and installed it yesterday in the wifes car. Seems OK… a bit plasticy but great price considering the Bluetooth and USB/Android play etc.

    • Is it really hard to take off the factory fitted system and put this in ? Is there any place which can tell me about putting this into a Toyota Avalon. ?

I found quite good videos on YouTube just by searching in Google on my phone in the car (eg "how to replace stereo in Hyundai Getz")

The new head unit comes with a Sony to ISO harness - so you just need to buy a Toyota to ISO harness at SuperCheapAuto or Autobahn - and it will plug straight in.

In my case, the factory metal clips off the old radio would not screw onto the side of this Sony unit, so I had to remove the aircon vents part of the dash, remove the factory metal cage from inside the dash, and the install the one the new Sony unit came with. You may or may not need to do that.

If you do use the Sony mounting cage - you just slot it in the hole - and use a screwdriver to push all the little metal tabs outwards so the cage cannot come sliding out of the dash. Then simply slide the new radio in (after connecting the cables to the back - with 2 ISO harnesses there will be plenty of cable - just watch for the antenna cable).

        • Thanks mate

  • I remember the days that cost a few hundred dollars for a dotted matrix head unit, with "picture" wallpapers.

  • If I already have a similar unit installed in my car, is this something I'd be able to swap over and install myself?

Yeah they're really easy to swap, what brand have you got in at the moment?
you might have to buy one of these wiring harnesses if you want an easy swap in/ out if theyre different brands - http://search.supercheapauto.com.au/search?w=iso

Thanks, might give it a go. The unit is Sony so should be easy I guess!

Yeah you'll be fine, should just be plug and play :) if not send me some pics of the cabling and I'll help you out if needed

  • are the buttons blue? or white with colour changing option?

    • Yeah buttons are blue, not sure if it has any colour changing options as i only had a play with it in store

      • I missed the colour changing option in the old days , but that's while these HU are like $300+
