Google Cardboard V2 Virtual Reality Headset with Strap $19.99 Shipped @ Bam Kapow

03

We have these great Google Cardboard Headsets with strap, they have clearer lenses and a more comfortable nose piece than other models.

Experience what Virtual Reality can do, it is only in it's infancy and it is amazing already. Try apps such as VRSE to put you inside spectacular short films or simply experience Youtube 360 degree videos as they are meant to be watched.

Notes:

*** This is version 2, the best way to figure out versions of Google Cardboard is that V2 has the button on top and does not use magnets and V1 has magnets on the side to assist with pressing the button.

*** Yes you can find this cheaper online, particularly on ebay or via aliexpress. But, buyer beware, the lenses are not all great quality and can really screw with your eyes. I went through many samples and suppliers before I chose this line.

*** My product is also on ebay, only 50 cents more than is on my website right now. So, if you feel more comfortable on ebay feel free.

  • There are a lot less than $20 on eBay and local stock and they are not cardboard.

    http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=3d+vr&_in_k…

    • See the notes, plus you hit the nail on the head, they are plastics not cardboards. Again, you get what you pay for, I know how much some of the plastics one go for from China and the cheaper ones are not the same as the more expensive ones.

Also, mine are local stock. What made you think they were not local?

      • I am not saying you are not local, I am just saying some other local stock are cheaper and not cardboard

      • Rep, I guess you forgot this is OzBargain. It is obviously NOT A BARGAIN.

Or, if you can get online for 7am Myer/eBay are still doing their free cardboard viewers

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/248602

The interesting question will be when the first DayDream comparible head units hit the market, and how these will vary from cardboard.

under $20 Shipped, $13 for The Device with $7.50 Shipping

I think your maths is screwy.

    • Yes, thankyou. I have resolved this, $12.49 with $7.50. Doh..

I would buy this everyday before a cardboard one for the same price.
Better construction and a Bluetooth game controller. And a free gift, which could be anything, maybe a boat?!

    • See my notes..

      • Did you have a look at their feedback? They are based in Hong Kong, loads of negatives on that account. A lot of ebay accounts do this, pretend they are in one country but are in face just a middle man sitting in an apartment in Hong Kong.

To be honest, if they were selling it in Australia at that price they would be flat out making any money which is of course the reason why one would go to all the trouble of importing an item into Aus..

        • Check carefully before you comments.

          Item location:
          Darwin,NT, Australia

        • I did check carefully before I commented, If I did not investigate that little bit more I would have agreed with you.

After looking at that I went to the sellers feedback and found out right away that this is not correct.

If you go an have a look at the feedback then you will see that this is a Chinese seller who has a history of not delivering items, delivering them late or very low quality.

This is a very common tactic on ebay.

        • @Bam-Kapow:

I did see those neg comments.

I understand some items they sell are not locate in Australia and they did say item location in the product description but not this VR headset which they clearly said item location in Darwin.

          @superforever:

There's a massive problem at the moment with sellers lying about being in Australia. Darwin is used most of the time, to try and justify the long shipping times.

          Source: I got stung.

        • @PainToad:

I understand, that is why most of the time I will select "eBay Premium Service" seller.

          This one looks good.

Even this one is only around $25.

  • With Strap?? Think thats the sealer for me!!

Bit like buying a car to drive out of the showroom without wheels. :)

    • Really, a lot of these headsets do not come with straps.

Appreciate your comment, it added a lot. Look forward to seeing your order come through.

  • it is only in it's infancy and it is amazing already.

A long infancy! I remember seeing demos more than 20 years ago.
Its much cheaper now, but not a lot else has changed.

    • I remember trying VR late 90s. I remember that you had to duck into it from underneath, as it had to be supported, being to heavy to wear. There was an awful amount of lag looking around and I remember commenting at the time that the original doom had better graphics, but not much has changed.

      • Try it again, I think you will be impressed. I do think that it is in it's infancy, the VR industry is just about to explode.

The same item, without the printing photoshopped out, is AUD$8.33 shipped on Aliexpress.

    > But, buyer beware, the lenses are not all great quality and can really screw with your eyes.

This is, of course, rubbish. A salesman who needs to criticise the other guy's product to sell his own is not a good salesman.

I think this is an advertisement, not a bargain.

    • Thanks for your comment. Just calling it as it is, have you tried any Google Cardboard headsets, if so how many and did you notice a difference between them?

I have and am just giving you and everyone the benefit of my experience.

Also the printing is not photoshoped out, the images are my own photos. Yes that is right, I took them.

      • +1

I have a Google Cardboard and the exact one from that link above.. I can't tell the difference and a few friends haven't mentioned it when they were paying with both of them.

  • There are VR headsets around the same price that are all plastic and I doubt the "lenses are not all great quality and can really screw with your eyes" - all of the ones I've reviewed haven't had any issues.

I'd advise people to avoid paying $20 for a piece of cardboard.

    • A would not pay $20 for a piece of cotton but if you made that into a shirt I would probably buy it.

How many Google Cardboards have you reviewed? I have done quite a few and yes the lenses were all different in quality.

      • Probably 4-5 of the plastic ones on Aliexpress/GearBest/GeekBuying. If you buy the cheapest, quality may be an issue but for $20 you can get something solid like Jusdrifn 86 linked to.

The VR Shinecon can be picked up for just $1 more and its all plastic and fully adjustable.

Also, can't say the accusation is a particularly nice way of dealing with criticism.

        • Just discussing things with you, am genuinely interested in how many you have reviewed. I am interested because I sell these and I am always looking at other products.

BTW you did not criticise, you advised people not to purhcase these headsets.

        • Also, have got to add that buying things from Aliexpress can be fraught with danger, you just do not know what you are going to get. But for $20 I guess it is worth the gamble.

  • bad lens will not damage or "screw: your eyes

it might give you a headache or fatigue over long periods.. but no it will not damage your eyes.

    • Did not say damage your eyes, they screw with your eyes. That could mean that you become fatigued quite quickly because they are pretty blurry.

      • i think in general… VR screws with your eyes

        • This is true, it is not something you can sit and do for hours on end.
