Have never owned Sheridan linen before. Anyone have an opinion?
If online shopping between a Sheridan 100% cotton quilt cover with unknown TC, vs a no-name brand quilt cover claiming 1200TC Egyptian cotton, both same price - which is the better bet for comfort?
can't answer you directly on this - where is this no brand from - premium eBay seller? shop? to determine whether the claim is real.
Just look at the original price, how likely $78 Sheridan will get more than 800TC.
check this and bed sheet guide. Thanks for the link. I was looking at Kogan's 'Ovela' brand https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/ovela-luxury-1200tc-egyptian-co… vs the Sheridan Ellcott. I've google searched the Ovela brand and found subpar reviews stating not 'real' Egyptian cotton. Although with the Sheridan Ellcott haven't found much info other than brand name.
Pop Sheridan is the cheapest range and is not worth getting imo. I have some Pop Sheridan sheets I got in a sale and it doesn't feel very smooth, like 180 to 250 thread count.
Since Pop Sheridan is in the lower quality range, I believe the 1200tc non name quilt cover would be a better choice.
Edit: I realised it was “normal” Elcott sheridan queen quilt you were referring to. I currently have a $320 double cotton slateen quilt cover which I got for $50 at their outlet sale. Best purchase I've made. Yeah for $48 delivered it is a good price with great reviews
Yep, was looking at the Ellcott. Thanks, that's great to read. I'll grab a set!
I ended up getting the similar Lennon quilt cover instead. Love the print. https://www.catchoftheday.com.au/product/sheridan-lennon-que…
Thanks for the advice!
The TC doesn't necessarily equal quality. Cotton weight is more important as that will tell you how dense/thick/heavy the cotton actually is. The heavier the cotton (measured in GSM) the stronger & harder wearing it is.
So a heavy 500TC sheet will feel nicer & wear better then a light 1200TC sheet.
Just like tshirts.I personally prefer the feel of 100% cotton, but the polyester actually helps improve wear & tear and also makes it more resilient & keep its shape/size when washing in warm water. (100% should really be washed in under 40oC water so it doesn't shrink).
The tread count indeed tells the quality of the manufacture, imagine a 250TC (or less) where you can see through whereas you can't with a 700TC.
For some people also heavy sheets and polyester cause discomfort so a high TC 100% cotton is the first and most important thing to look after a good sheets set.Not for me, I much prefer the thick heavy hotel weight and quality type sheets and find that light high TC does not last as long or feel as comfortable most of the year.
Yeah I've read TC is mostly irrelevant cause of how the manufacturers count or such. I wish they'd list GSM and total weight. But guess that's the price I pay when I gamble on discounted online shopping.
And I didn't know that about the polyester. Makes sense, though I think I'd still prefer higher cotton % cause I don't like the 'circulated body heat under a plastic tent' feel.
The Sheridan stuff is cotton / polyester blend
Says 100% cotton for the quilt sets.
Sheridan Pop is 60/40 cotton polyester. Yeah, so much no. Its a trifle sad to see Sheridan stoop to using polyester blends.
Thanks op - I got the Anya Quilt cover set instead for $64.50
$10 delivery
Marketing BS:
Freshen up your bedroom with this premium brand. So I can only use the brand in my bedroom don't need to buy the sheets. LOL
Designed in Australia. Yeah this stuff really needs design since in China they don't know how to make millions of sheets everyday! LOL
Materials 60% cotton 40% polyester. Since when polyester became better than cotton??? LOL
Country of origin China. We all knew that, you buy a container of $1 each sheet and sell in Australia for $12, thanks for helping Australia! LOLCheers! Bought the Shawcraft Quilt Cover - Indigo. Fiddy bux!
The price on Sheridan Fraser Queen Bath Towel 2-Pack is listed incorrectly or gone up to $29.99 :(
only thing which I wanted to buy :(
Yeah it's gone up since this morning. They also had other less offensive colours available for around the same price.
How much is delivery?
