    AAAAAAALIANZ INSURANCE, I mean AALLIEXPRESSSS

    • Haha, I had the same advert going through my mind when I read the post.

  • Does this model support band 28?

    • +2

None of Xiaomi's phones do. If they did Samsung in Australia would go broke.

      • +3

No they wouldn't, Xiaomi to most tech unsavvy Aussie's is a inferior chinese brand, Samsung's got all the brand powahhh

      • +3

Lazy engineers probably just a firmware addition but then they probably don't even think of Australia as a market too small. Usually India is the big one for them after Chinese domestic.

        • +1

It is much more than firmware. It requires a suitable antenna.

This is the first thing I want to know about any mobile phone intended for use in Australia. Does it have

    3G 850/900/2100Mhz
    4G 700/1800Mhz

    And no "band" rubbish either.

Because OP is a bundle of sticks, I have added the crucial data into the post. Now worship me.

      • "Bundle of sticks" is a weird adjective. Are you implying that OP is gay because he/she didn't post how you (and others) like?

        • No offense meant, just invoking a reddit \ 4chan meme.

    • Shaybisc,

I've seen many comments on diff mobile posts reg bands.
Can you please clarify what this band 28 is and why is it so important?
Mobile with band 28 doesn't work in Aus?

      Thanks in advance.

700MHz is never supported on a Chinese Phone. It's not for OZ market. But it gets all the rest you need. My LG G4 doesn't have 700MHz, and I don't have any problem. Can you share with us why 700MHz so important?

      • +2

If you didn't read my Wiki, this is the TLDR

        • 700 will have the widest and deepest coverage. Why? Low frequency signals penetrate better. If you’re buying a new phone and you are using Telstra / Optus, this is beneficial to have. Do you REALLY need it though? That depends. Internet surfers may find it more difficult to achieve full 4G speeds while inside a building or underground, but those who don’t utilize mobile data as much could live without it.
        • THX, it's good to know. Might be good to have one support 700 next time. as long as it's not costing much more.

But for this spec, getting one locally could double the cost. Only cheap one I could think of is the new MOTO G4 PLUS which just announced yesterday. hopefully it's not too much more expensive than US

It goes through walls better and it's where telstra and optus are putting their development and expansion efforts…..faster and more capacity.

    • +3

Same no band 28 forget it.

You should look at "band rubbish". There are about four or five variants of 700Mhz 4G, B12, B13, B17 off the top of my head. Australian networks are only compatible with 700Mhz on Band 28 (B28).

    • +1

      The Band vital information!
4G 700MHz can mean Band 17 or Band 28… Band 17 is useless to us in Australia… so if anything, knowing the frequency without the Band number is rubbish!

      • Thanks for that. I've learned something. Ok so I need B3 and B28.

    • The reason I didn't use the frequency is that it alone does not determine suitability.

The following LTE bands all use 700MHz: 12,13,14,17,28,29,44 & 67.

As you can see just using the frequency will not determine if the phone is any good for use in Australia.

The 32GB is going for AU$269.70, which I believe is also the lowest ever. Though the $273 eGlobal deal last month is still better since that included expedited delivery.

    • I bought the 32GB model from this link! for an extra $23 you can choose DHL express (Which I didn't pick lol)

    • Yup. Got the eGlobal one just for that. It's been sitting on my desk ever since. Still waiting for my case and screen protector off eBay. Should have bought those before the phone. Oh well.

  • Even though the $69 phone I'm using now has band 28, On a phone around $200 I am happy to compromise on band 28. Especially a phone that offers this performance, build, and battery life. On a $400+ phone than you really should be gating band 28. It's interesting band 28 never seems to get much mention on iPhone deals.

  • Has anyone bought RedMi Note 3 Pro from AliExpress before? What ROM does the phone come with?

  • Doesn't matter which ROM it ships with its which ones xioami have …..note2 has global shipped with Chinese reflashed to global

  • Don't forget the 7% cash back from topcashback! https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/248608

Just saw this after buying mine unfortunately.
