Careful - I bought one of these 30W speakers when it was $124 from a JB Hifi deal. The speaker is OK as a bluetooth speaker, but the LG software for multi room functionality was absolutely woeful - to the point of being not functional. It may have been improved since then but buyer beware!

I agree - after many frustrating days with these they went back!
      Not worth the hassle.

    • Haven't improved, still absolutely woeful, I bought the H7 during the sale, but because the speaker sounds so good, I was keen to make it work, now, it has Chromecast Audio attached to it, perfect!!

  • Both say 30 Watt in the ebay titles - not sure where 40w came from ?

The more expensive wide one is battery operated (so portable) and uses WiFi (not sure about LAN cable).
The cheaper one plugs into power, and can use WiFi or LAN cable.

I have a house full of the Music Flow products including 2 of the above. It took a good many months but after multiple firmware updates my setup is stable and more importantly reliable. The pictured NP8350 (H4) is Bluetooth/WIFI with battery so great for on the deck for dinner etc. I use 2 of them for our rear surround sound speakers with the soundbar LAS650M(HS6) as the front. The NP8340 (H3) is a different kettle of fish it has wifi/Bluetooth but is mono and no battery. I have a couple and they are great for the kitchen and can be linked together in a stereo configuration but they need a power point. I'm not sure if LG are still developing this product as they dried up in my local JB HIFI and the Good Guys. All the speakers initially had great sound let down by poor firmware/apps. They have worked hard after a huge public backlash to address the issues and for the most part have been successful. There is a very active forum https://forum.lgmusicflow.com/lgmusicflow
A tip for those interested. You don't need the bridge (R1) as long as one of the speakers has an Ethernet connection. I'm sure there are thousands stuck in boxes all over the world after folks realised they didn't need them… I also have a box with one inside.

    • Thanks the for detailed comment.
How do you rate the sound quality on the 8350 if it was by itself?
I take it battery life must be pretty good if you're using it as part of a SS setup?

      • Sound quality is excellent for such a little unit and is overkill for a surround rear speaker. The unit is solid and well built. Battery will last an evening on the patio but normally I have it charging when in surround mode. The one issue I have is that the battery drains even when switched off so if left in a cupboard for a couple of weeks it could have drained to half. At first I thought it was an issue with the unit but the 2 I have both do the same.

    • Mine has ethernet cable connected and the software is still an absolute rubbish, as mentioned above I have Chromesast Audio attached to it now which makes it perfect.

The speaker itself is brilliant, the H7 is toe-to-toe in sound quality with Sonos Play5 Gen1

Thanks, just what I needed to know!

  • Buy this product at your own risk! And especially from the good guys.

I had a lot of problems with my unit, mostly around wifi instability, which I found out was common.

And frustrating things like not working with my phone (LG!) but sometimes working with my work phone.

After finally getting it to connect it was ok, but then next time using it i would have to do network setup all over again, and more often than not out wouldn't connect.

Good guys would not take the unit back, apparently couldn't find a fault with it.

    • A tip for those getting frustrated trying to setup/connect the speakers using wifi… DON'T!

I spent ages trying to get it to work, and gave up. Just for kicks, I tried connecting the speakers using bluetooth, worked first time in under 2 minutes. After that, had no problem using them through wi-fi. Totally whacky.

      edit - I have 2 NP8540's

      • Yeah, Bluetooth worked great, but I bought it specifically for Wi-Fi.

So no Wi-Fi makes it a very expensive Bluetooth speaker!

        • You misunderstood.
To set it up, you use bluetooth to connect the speakers.
Then, you can use Wi-Fi to play music.

      • I kept trying and worked out that the speaker "Mesh" wifi connection is best kept in the 5GHz band and the wifi connection to router on the 2.4 for range. Saying that when I first bought them shortly after launch I though I'd throw them out the window in frustration. Each time they would release a new firmware just before I did. The last update gave them a reprieve. I can honestly say I don't have any issues.

  • Seems like a great price on the 8350. I got one for the balcony. I hear all the complaints about wifi and I am fully expecting problems, but I don't think I'll hold LG solely responsible. I find some devices just do not work well on wifi. I literally still have not got my stupid Fitbit Aria scale to connect to my wifi.

  • Spitting chips - I bought two of the 30W H3, arrived today , scratched to bits, dent in the grille - ex DEMO! a real mess.
Totally dishonest staff in Frankston store, called me up and said they were "on display" and I said I would take them if they are in as new condition, which I was assured they were, and that they would be packed with care, totally not the case. These are worse than 2nd hand.

IF you buy and get told they're display, don't take them, not worth the pain and hassle. So depressing to see how low people go.

  • Ordered two NP8340s on Wed. Got a call today saying there's no stock anywhere and I'm getting a refund. Sigh.

Not strictly true, I know there's two smashed up ones just left Artarmon on the way back to Melboure…. as above.
If you live in Melbourne I'm sure you could get them cheap.
