i will highly recommend to stay away from this, i bought one it always turns off itself and battery life is really bad.

      Mine works fine..

      • Cool, how do you find the battery life?
Do you know if you just run Windows and not dual boot with Android? I already have an android tablet.

        • I got mine yesterday. It dual boots on mine which is good for android apps but bad because storage for windows is limited.

        • I would say the battery lasted for about 3-4 hours at 100% brightness when using Windows 10. It is dual boot Windows/Android and works well.

          @gottacatchemall:

Get a Samsung 64GB microSD for it and you wont have to worry about storage space again.

Android OS wont read the microSD unless you format it to Fat32. However Windows read it as Secure Digital storage device and you can have it as exFat,NTFS or Fat32. If you want to have access to the microSD on both Android and Windows. You have format it to Fat32 since the tablet cant access exFat. :( My Oppo Mirror 5s reads exFat fine! :)

        • @HandsomeMonkey: Formatting it to FAT32 greatly reduces the SD card's useability unfortunately. It can't handle greater than 4GB files, and there are plenty of movie files bigger than that, not to mention apps or games rather.

Does yours wake from sleep in Android with wifi turned on? Even if my screen turns off it freezes and you have to hard reset it. Really annoying and as such Android is essentially unusable for me until chuwi fix it.

Also, for anyone I terested even though it's USB c it's only USB 2 and doesn't have charge pass through so you can't use USB and charge simultaneously even with an adapter.

If they fix the wake from sleep issue I still think it's good value, but until then I would recommend people avoid it.

        • I have no idea what you are talking about. Mine's always connected to wifi and it doesnt wake up from sleep when the screen is off.

I can access internal storage and charge at the same time when plugged into a computer.

        • @HandsomeMonkey:

Consider yourself lucky, the unable to wake from sleep bug is quite common.

I'm not talking about internal storage, I'm talking about using an OTG USB device like a USB drive into the type c port. Even with hubs that have a type c charge port the hi8 pro won't charge

        • same as mine, i am not sure its faulty or not

      • BTW I got TWRP3.0.1.0 installed and Rooted the device and then installed Paragon NTFS & HFS+. Now Windows drive is accessible.

  • Probably want this one in original packaging. Same price.

  • have chuwi provided a fix for the battery issue?

  • and kid proof cases avail for these at at?

  • Does it have a glass screen or plastic …..hate having to buy screen protectors

    • They have a pretty thin glass screen. Be careful - they crack pretty easily.

    • Mine had a screen protector already applied out of the box.

  • The teclastis $10 more is it any better ?

I bought one of these from them earlier and it arrived a few days ago.

It came in a foam box with no branding. It was taped up in yellow packing tape. The screen protector that I bought separately was inserted inside the foam box as was a travel adapter. The foam box it came in wasn't even big enough for the tablet to lie flat. It laid at around a 45 degree angle and not very secure. It probably moved around a lot during shipping. This was the same deal when I got a Teclast tablet earlier. What happened to the retail packaging? Are these goods new or refurbs?

The top and bottom parts of the screen look dented in. I don't know if that is from shipping damage or just spotty workmanship. Part of the tablet's cover was loose, as if someone tried to open it up. I was able to close it back up tight, but it worries me what went on there.

The touch screen does not work in the dual boot menu. I later found out you use the volume rocker to select which OS you want to boot into. Weird. The touch screen works for my Teclast dual boot tablet.

I inserted a 64GB Samsung TF card and Windows can see it but Android cannot.

The 32GB storage is partitioned so that Windows gets a total of 16GB (8GB available) and Android gets a total of 8GB. What happened to the missing 8GB? 8GB for Android is not enough to be useable, especially if it isn't going to recognize my TF card.

The Android OS looks like it's using stock Android. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to add a widget to the home screen. Long pressing an empty space allows you to change the wallpaper only, or add shortcuts. No widgets.

As a positive, there was a screen protector already applied to it, that doesn't have labels on it, so it's useable. I don't know if the seller put that on or if it came that way. I didn't have to buy another screen protector, and even better, I didn't have to put it on myself whcih I suck at doing.

Overall, I'd say it's a good deal for the price, but I had a number of gripes with it that you're going to have to look past.

    • Yeah, re packaging, same thing happened to me when I got a Hi8 for the in laws a few months ago. Found out later they have two SKUs, one without original packaging, and one with for a bit more.

I personally don't see the point as their foam box packaging was bigger and less secure than the original (I had bought one from Gearbest a year ago)

Anyway, at the moment sale price is the same either way (linked it here)

      • What is the purpose in repackaging it and selling it for slightly less? What do they do with the retail boxes? Do they sell empty boxes to someone else?

        • Who knows. Someone in another thread mentioned something about BG saying they had had a few damaged in transit in the original packaging
