  • Good find, great deal for a good watch. It's not the latest but still one of the better choices.

The only two issues I had with mine before I switched to a Huawei was the 'flat tyre' screen and the wireless charging generated alot of heat.

    • +1

Do they look a bit funny being so thick and the band being on the bottom (making it look even thicker) or is it not too bad?

      • +2

Still the best looking watch imo… It's not even really thick, compared to my Tag Heuer it's much of a muchness.. I have the 18mm SS band though so I think that evens it out.

I love mine… Have loaded about 3 hours of music onto it and wear it every day to gym with BT headphones.

It charges quite fast… So all the hoo har about battery life is pretty much moot given you drop it on the wireless charger for a top up and go again.. It lasts about 2 days with average use though and screen set to dim/off unless activated. I don't wear mine to bed either!

It's not super fast… But does the job well, and still looks better than the gen 2.. Except for maybe the sport 360.

I still don't get the whinge about the flat tyre… I've owned mine for some time and can't remember noticing it.

The design is spot on… The new one has band clasps, which work well for using a non genuine band, but totally detract from the minimalist look the gen 1 has. Just my opinion.

This is a great price… I still get asked a few times a week what watch is that?

        • Thanks for the honest opinion.

    • +2

How is the flat tyre an issue with the watch? I'd say it's more of a personal preference.

      • +3

Not really an issue. I stopped noticing it within a few days of using it. I also didn't have any charging heat issues with mine

      • +3

He did specifically say "the only two issues I had with mine".

        • +1

@tranqme: who are you to decide if he finds it an issue for him or not. Calm down.

      • I found a few apps and themes that got clipped by the flat tyre. Not a major issue, just one of the only issues I had.
I know the technical reason Motorola have that strip, but none of the other makers have it and still have the same sensors.

        • It's because Motorola still uses LCD, I think. I do know that Gear S2 and Apple Watch has the ambient light sensor right underneath the display (and I think the reason they can do that is because they use AMOLED, thinner display and all).

    • I've found heating issues only happen with 3rd party chargers. The charging dock that comes with it generates no heat in the watch or the dock when doing a 0-100% charge.

      • That's not true.

I had three of these watches over a 6 week period. Each time I complained about the heat I was told by Motorola that 'some heat' was to be expected. Unfortunately in my case - and a quick search of Google will tell you it's a bit too common - each one I had overheated and burned itself out. I think it may have been because when I got a replacement it came from the same batch, and maybe the batch had issues.

I don't want anyone to think I'm bagging the watch, I had bad luck that's all - the watch is great.

        • +1

Fair enough, maybe I just got lucky with my one? It gets quite warm when I use a cheap knock off QI charger which for some reason will only charge 20% at a time and then stop. I assume it's stopping the charge due to the heat? The official dock it came with doesn't do that though and will charge happily and not get any warmer than room temp.

Hopefully you get a better unit if you decide to buy one more. Would understand if you didnt though given 3 units in and they all had issue!

        • @JLCC: Same, I have no heat problems charging with the supplied dock. However, it gets real hot with a 3rd party QI charger.

      • Mine heats up occasionally too even when at 100% charge. Hopefully not doing anything too detrimental…

  • Since it is refurbished stock, what's the warranty on these products?

  • Just a warning that the glass back on the gen 1 models have a tendency to crack.

My watch back cracked last week and I have been wearing the watch very carefully and loosely in order to avoid this (i was aware of the issues but I bought it anyway because I loved the look).

Just Google this issue before you buy it too so you are aware. This is not an issue that is unlikely, but is one that most users will face

  • Darn would of liked the all black metal

    • +6

Same seller $20 more but looks like it's 'new' not refurbished, all black one available

      http://m.ebay.com/itm/Motorola-Moto-360-Blutooth-46MM-Backli…

      • Excellent find

      • That one also says “This device is 100% function with little to no signs of wear.”

and "The item may be missing the original packaging,"

Either listing, you are getting a used item. I'd be concerned about the battery. They only last one day when new.
        Nice watch otherwise.

      • +1

        Godly find.

        Purchased and upvoted, thanks mate.

  • Can I get a new one (maybe other brands/models) for a little more? or is this the best we can get at this price?

    • Read the comment above. Jamestownfx have found the listing for the brand new ones for US$20 extra.

      • thanks mate

      • This is incorrect, they are also used.

    • If you check your local OW, they might have it for $200 for a brand new Moto 360

  • I saw the leather band model (Gen1, which I own) at OfficeWorks for $199 which is pretty good for local stock (RRP was ~$330 when I bought mine).

Still, this is a good deal. Its a great watch. And like almost all Moto360 owners, the flat tyre has never bothered me in the least (you really dont notice it).

    • I just got the leather model, and upgraded to a stainless strap for $20. Looks great.

Totally agree that the flat tire isn't an issue - never notice it.

      • i bought my from officeworks for 199, but returned stainless one and got the leather band to instead, much lighter

local stock with one year warranty, the staff told me they only replace the watch if I send it for warranty, but not repair.

You can get extra 2 years replacement warranty from officeworks at $24 on top

      • Which metal strap did you buy?

I bought one from AliExpress but I cant get the pins to click in? Possibly the head of the band it .5mm too thick?

        • I got a Pebbble Steel strap from eBay, along with the metal tool thingy - it was a bit tricky to get the pins to fit, but with a bit of patience I got there.

  • Can moto360 (Gen 1) linked to iPhone? or update required before that?

    • Yes it can however can be used for notifications only

      • yeah, I got rid of my Urbane as hooked up to an iPhone, it was crap. (had a G3 and then work decided we all had to have iphones)

Can't reply to anything (emails, texts etc)

        waste of time.

    • +1

It can be linked to the Android Wear iOS app with the later updates but the issue is they likely won't come with that version out of the box. You will probably need an Android phone to do a few updates before it'll pair with the iPhone.

  • $239 @ Mobileciti for new stainless model too if your OW store is out of stock. I managed to get HN to pricematch OW. Their normal price is $249 for leather.
Note, battery life is pretty ordinary!

    • What do you call "ordinary"? Mine goes from 6am every day and is rarely below 50% when I drop it on the charger at 10-11pm. And it recharges quite quickly - if you come home for a shower before going out for the night, it's generally back to 80% after 25 minutes.

      • My day starts @ 3am and usually by home time @ 3pm, its on about 20-25%. I agree it charges quick but I might try the Gen 2 which has a 400mah vs the 320mah on Gen 1. Gr8 watch though overall!

    • Mine lasts the day. On at 8:00AM. Usually take it off and leave it on my side table at about 6:00PM. Put it on the charger when I go to sleep around 11:00PM and it usually has more than 10% left

  • +1

I saw then on clearance in Officeworks for $199 including the steel chain model.

    http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/motorola-mo…

    • If you can find any

      • They were in stock when I checked last. Not sure about now.

  • +2

Just my opinion but please check out the feedback's as well there are a fair few MOTO's in the negs, it is a small % but i tend to stay away from volume sellers with that type of feedback or 2% negative feedback unless what i'm buying is like a $1 case hehe

  • -5

I have to pay to have an annoying thing that urges me to pull out my mobile phone in order to better collect data for Boogle?

  • I bought one of these as an "upgrade" from the LG G watch. At first battery didn't last nearly as long (not even a full working 8 hour day with normal use) and the performance was extremely lagging in comparison.

However after the last couple of updates onto MarshMallow, ambient display is now actually ambient! This is while also maintaining VERY good battery life. It's now comparable to my old LG G watch and will get through 24 hours (100% - 10%ish at end of the 24hour cycle). Performance has also taken a massive leap. Still not as snappy as other Gen1 or Gen2 watches but way better than it was when this was first release. Not a bad purchase at this price. Looks heaps better than a number of other models out there too, especially if you get a metal band to go with it.

    • Been thinking of upgrading from the LG G Watch to this. After updates on the G Watch I now get 2 days easy but that I need it 'cause I charge each night so if this lasts a day it should be good. Is the band easily replaceable like the G Watch?

      • +1

I'd say it's just a tad trickier because the pin is housed slightly within the case housing on the Moto. But not too tricky that you'll need a specialised set of tools or anything. Just takes a little bit of patience to make sure you don't crack the plastic backing of the Moto. Took me about 10 minutes to change the Moto to a metal band (inlcuding adjusting the size). The LG G watch took maybe a few minutes less.

Also note you'll need a specific Moto360 Gen1 metal band (can be found on ebay for $10-12ish) as the end bits that attach to the watch via pins need to have grooves in them.

  • Been looking for one of these on the cheap.
    Thanks :)

  • +1

Be careful. I read in slickdeals.net some of the items are DOA and got some major cosmetic damage. Although some of them is look like new. So it's 50-50 chance. Not worth the hassle returning them.

    • Was it from the same seller?

      • +1

        yes

  • Thanks OP, I don't really see a use for these but am willing to give these a try at this price.

    • its still a $200 out of pocket. If you dont need it, you dont need it :)

      • True, but tbh, on paper it doesn't sound like i will need but willing to give it a try. Worst comes to worst I can resell it for slightly less.

  • so which link is better?

    The refurbished or 'New' link?

  • OP, i don't think moto 360 has an optical hr sensor. Happy to be corrected if wrong.

    Edit: my bad it does.

  • Just before i buy, want to make sure how will warranty be like for Australia? Or where to get this Moto360 fixed?

  • The steel band is a steal at this price. Own one and its good quality for what you pay for,

  • Thanks OP, my launch model literally just broke the other week

  • Guys,

what does the voice control do? Can i use my moto360 to say ' play dami im' and my mobile loads up spotify or music player and play?

    Thanks.

    • +2

Anything you can do with Google now…

      "Ok Google"

      Play songs by Illy

      Set timer for 90 seconds

Message Dad _ How Are You?

      etc.

      Also spotify worked for me

You can also get something like: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.RSen.Comma… that increases functionallity

      • I wonder if the google voice recognition on the moto 360 is as bad as the phone one.

        Me: Call mother

        Phone: Setting time…

        WTF?

        • It's surprisingly good. For some reason I expected it to be terrible, or at least misunderstand part of my instructions, but the only difference is the speed at which it figures out what you said - the watch takes a bit a longer to complete your command.

Yesterday, I did a command that was something like "Make a new appointment for the doctor on Campbell Street at 2pm on Monday" and it did exactly that. That said, my Nexus phone's voice recognition is also flawless, so it's nothing like the experience you described.

        • @klaw81: So something fun came up yesterday…

I was looking for a car cradle for my phone and google looked up the following..

Me: Moto X Style Car Cradle

          Google: Moto X Style C*ck

          Yeah……. wtf google.

  • +1

gotta resist buying it!!!, I gotta get the car serviced first!!

  • Damn it Oz bargain costs me money! Lol

  • Brand new pay another $60 I wouldn't bother

    • From where exactly???

      • he's referring to the officeworks link posted above in the comments. Not sure if there are any left as it's on clearance from the store.

        • None in Adelaide so doesn't help me.

        • @killabob: I did notice it has click and collect available. What happens when you try and complete the checkout? I know that when you view the item it says none available in stores but click and collect is available and allows you to add it to cart. Give that a go? Wishful thinking most likely :0

        • @slosh: nope, doesn't give me that option…

  • You can get the Motorola Moto 360 Sport - 45mm, Black, for $293.45 shipped, might be an alternative for some that wants the latest;

    http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Moto-360-Sport-Black/dp/B016C…

  • Anyone got their watch delivered yet who can say anything about if it's 'as new' ?

  • Got my "new" watch, looks pretty good, the bands are bit too small for my wrist though. Anyone know if the 2nd gen bands work on the 1st gen ones? If not, anyone know where i can get 1st gen black metal bands?

  • +1

Packaging was utter shit, my watch was bouncing around in the box (not original box). It's also missing the extra links. This is too small for my wrist. I need the extra links.

    • I'm in the same position, bought a third party band for now… Motorola do not sell them, at least not anymore. Just need that one extra link…

      • Mind sharing what you bought? I've heard the third party bands have a really high chance of cracking the back glass though.

        • I haven't received it yet, should be arriving soon though.

          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/141707761350?_trksid=p2060353.m14…

Honestly though, it is only a temporary solution until i can find something better… i heard the pebble stainless steel band works too but I'm trying to find a way to modify the original band so the piece collecting the watch and the band stays intact. That's supposedly where the third party bands suck.

Also, changing the clasp might make it better considering the butterfly clasp is shit.

        • @ProjectZero: I bought the Pebble steel band for around US$20 but its pretty cheap and flimsy feeling.
So I went for NATO nylon style straps instead on my Moto360.

          http://imgur.com/a/PksQc#3

The last 2 pics show the Pebble band. The middle 2 show the Nato, which I still wear today.

        • @systmworks: The band I got isn't too bad…

          image 1
          image 2
          image 3
          image 4

Pretty good so far, ofc im expecting the thing to probably crack the back a little… wanted to mod the OEM band but wasn't possible

        • Had a look at the moto 360 2nd gen (46mm) band… they're the same thing except for the part that joins onto your watch face. If you can find extra links for that, you should be able to use it for your moto 360 1st gen as well.

    • I need to remove two links as the band is too large for my wrist lol

  • They delivered me the wrong style. I asked for light metallic they have stone leather.

Anyone want to stop? Else I'm going to complain

Edit: or if you want to buy from me at same price. The stone leather is out of stock.

  • Picked mine up this morning, Looks pretty good, I can't tell it's "used". Feels a bit heavy but I haven't worn a watch in years. Band is a perfect fit for me, lucky me I have small wrist. I was thinking of trying some other bands later.

  • +1

Packaging was crap. The box was well-protected but the watch itself was just rattling around loose in the box.

Been wearing mine (stainless steel band) for 2 days now and just broke one of the plastic clips where the band joins the watch. The band now slides sideways freely 2-3mm and I've just been reading about how I can now expect to crack the plastic back.

    • +1

For anyone else who breaks their plastic spacers like I have, here's a reference to a possible help channel:

      https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/MOTO-360/Metal-Band-Connectors-…

The latest post (#215) indicates that they are willing to help out Australians in my situation.

      • Sweet might give it a go as well

      • Was advised that I have to pay for postage $16.95… did anyone get asked this?

        • I didn't even get a reply. How many can you get? Maybe we could organise a group buy?

        • @he3at: I asked for two… not too sure how many they are going to send tho… I've replied to their email so I'll update to see if i can get more when I get their reply.
