Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2016 Stealth $135, Logitech G920 $314 @ MSY + Other Deals

150

$165 at other stores for the keyboard, seems like a good price for the brand new 2016 model. The 2016 model has the same lighting effects as the Blackwidow Chroma (plus one that the Chroma doesn't have actually), just without the RGB lighting, it's only green. Loses the macro keys from the old models though. Note that this is the Stealth model, so it has Razer's Silent Orange switches - Not Clicky Greens.

G920 is the Xbox Model (as opposed to the G29 for the PS4) so works on Xbox One and PC.

Other good deals:
Razer Diamondback Chroma - $99
5m Displayport to Mini Displayport Cable - $8
5m HDMI Cable - $8
Samsung 27" 1920x1080 Curved Monitor - $335

Most monitors have a 60Hz refresh rate, and most people don't play at anything higher than 60FPS, so yeah, it is great for PC gaming. Anything above 60Hz is amazing for PC gaming. Most console games run at 30FPS anyway, so yeah. This has a 4ms response time, which is pretty good too.

        It isn't great. 60Hz @ 1080p is basically bog average. 144Hz @ 1080p is great. 60Hz @ 1440p is great. Amazing would be 144Hz @ 1440p or 60Hz @ 4K.

        • +1

60Hz @ 1080p is average as butts for monitor specs, but without a doubt above average for gaming performance, at least for games with decent visuals at good settings.

In response to joeflacco's reply below, what I meant by above average for gaming was that most people wouldn't get above 60fps in a modern game with nice visuals, specifically in the texture and AA departments. To make it clearer, why get any higher than 60Hz if you can't get any higher than 60fps in-game?

I'll also throw in, though, that 1080p on a 27" monitor probably won't look that good in gaming. The pixels probably won't be very crisp, I'd go for 1440p on a 27" if gaming is the purpose.

@Lafrin: Your monitor has nothing to do with your game performance. You said it yourself - a 60Hz, 1080p monitor is average. It's not great.

@joeflacco: 'Your monitor has nothing to do with your game performance'

I wish I could neg this a million times. What a false statement. Those 144Hz 1080p TN panels are basically built for CS:GO players.

        • -3

@deanylev: Your GPU is doing the bulk of the work - not your monitor.

        • +1

@joeflacco: We aren't talking about how the game runs… We mean how it affects gameplay, like response times, which heavily affect games like CS:GO.

        • -2

@deanylev: No, just you are. You decided to just pick a niche of competitive FPS gaming. On that note, no pro CS:GO player (hurts to write that out) would use a 60Hz monitor over a 144Hz monitor which kind of disproves the very argument that you're trying to make. 60Hz and 1080p is the most limiting combination available (in terms of the most popular mainstream monitors).

      • Really? Your gaming standards must be pretty ordinary then. 1080p @ 60Hz is not great by any means.Funny seeing all the uninformed 'gamers' on here downvoting people who actually know what they are talking about.

        • 1080p @ 60FPS is the standard. It's still great, it's nothing mindblowing, but it's what expected on PC. 1080p looks sharp, and 60FPS looks smooth, so seems pretty great to me. Most people can't push anything greater.

          @deanylev: If you're blown away by 1080p, 60Hz and a 4ms (grey-to-grey!) response time in 2016, then I've got news for you.

        • @joeflacco: Don't remember saying I was blown away, but sure, put words into my mouth, good on you.

        • -1

@deanylev: I should have said "If you think it's great". Maybe you just have really low standards.

Before anyone jump on the Logitech G920 please google about the brake pedal issue. Easy to fix but will void your warranty.

    • what's the issue with it?

      • Brakes pedal is not working at all unless you take the things part and remove one small black thing.

        • Who uses the brakes anyway ?

        • -1

@woteva: The point of buying this thing is to use it as simulator. So brakes is a must. Otherwise your xbox controller is more than enough.

  • Because it's MSY, you'd better hope you never have a warranty issue with the device.

    • What a stupid thing to say. I've had nothing but good experiences having things RMA'd or swapped over there. Keep your comments to yourself, there's dozens of MSY stores, you can't generalize.

      • Umm .. you do know they got heavily fined by the ACCC for not honouring warranties a few years back?! https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/msy-technology-penalis…

Shouldn't be a problem moving forward but it was a very valid comment and you are out of line telling people to keep their comments to themselves on a commenting site.

        • Whatever you say I guess. Rather not have an unnecessary umbrella statement on my post, but sure. He's been negged twice, and not by me, so seems other people don't appreciate his comment either. It's been over 5 years since they were fined, so not sure that's still relevant.

Good price for that keyboard. I've got a Stealth Tournament Edition, and it's very nice to use for for development. I'm trying to hit the MSY site, but it seems down… too many OzBargainers i guess
