choice.com.au rated it well. Their conclusions:

    Good points
    • Very good overall.
    • Excellent result for blending soup.
    • Excellent result for crushing ice.
    • Excellent result for chopping carrots.
    • Jug can be positioned any way.
    • Blade easy to remove.

    Bad points
    • Glass jug is heavy with a load, uncomfortable to hold.

    • That bad point is a bit unfair …

  • Better than Ninja or Nutri bullet?

      What do you mean better?

If you're asking is the food any different after bashing it with a blunt blade in either one no, it's the same.

The Nutri Ninja seems to be sold on the premise that it actually makes food different by some magical mechanism related to feeding a large amount of input energy that other blenders manage to do without somehow and still bash food the same.

This blender appears to be aimed to people that aren't so ignorant that this insane notion works on them.

      • So all blender are the same, and you just look at the watts?

        • We're talking about bashing food with a blunt blade here, it isn't a sophisticated process where there's a difference.

I generally only use wattage as a guide by ensuring I stay on the low side because using 700W to blend something is idiotic. People are under the impression that watts in = joules out which isn't the case.

        • @Diji1:
I thought that as well, until a friend bought a vitamix. Tried it out - a lot better than other blenders I've used. Depends what kinda things you want to blend. If nuts and ice then the cheaper ones wouldn't do as good of a job.

        • @Diji1: On the wattage basis, this seems like a better buy @ $79 for 950W vs the Kenwood 800W @ $98

        • @Diji1: It used to be in reference to ice crushing capabilities.

        • @Max2010: Now $49.95!!

        • @Utopian: Wow! even better.

In my experience the difference between a good and bad blender is more related to the design of the jug and blades than watts. Poorly designed ones don't circulate solid or lumpy food well (nuts, ice, baby puree, chunks in soup etc) and you end up spending ages poking at it with a spatula to expose it to the blades. Well designed ones let the food circulate.

I'm not sure how this one stacks up. Has anyone here used it?

  • bought one a few years ago, barely used and the jug cracked.

  • This is a good blender and for this price is excellent. Wouldn't pay 249.

Agree with others, the Nutribullet type blenders are more effective
