  • Haha, you see my post on WP system!?

    Good deal!

Oh saw your note! How nice :D

    • Credit where credit due man :)
I just got home from picking up my 3 LIFX colour bulbs.. looking forward to getting them configured and working with my ECHO :D

  • Hi guys
Im using veralite at the moment and i have got 3 foscams, sonos system (including one zone with 5.1 setup), 2 multi sensors connected.

I am currently thinking of upgrading to veraedge due to some zwave plus devices i am interested in. From what i have been reading in limited research it seems like homeseer supports zwave plus which is great news.

    So my questions are:
    1. HS pro. Seems to have some plug-ins included. Does it mean out of the box i can straight away connect my zwave devices, foscam and sonos? Or i would have to pay for extra plug-ins? Sonos is really important one and so is foscam

    1. This seems to be the third generation of home seer and it seems like for each version we would need to purchase the upgrade. If you are still on v1 or v2, will you be able to connect to zwave plus? Or is that exclusive to v3?

    2. Sonos plugin. Anyone using tts feature? Are they working well? What about grouping of multizone and when some of the zones with multi speakers? Like 5.1 setup and stereo paired zone

    Cheers

    • Ive only used the trial version of HS3 (briefly) and it seems to be very powerful and have plugins for almost everything…

BUT, the biggest complaint I see is the cost of all the extra plugins. Unless you get PRO which includes all the HomeSeer made plugins (so only 3rd party plugins on their website still cost $).

I am seriously considering buying HS3 (as its well regarded) but I also found in the comments a reference to an alternative called Domoticz.com which appears to use a simple looking programming language called Blocky for generating actions. Its free, and sounds interesting, but am yet to check it out.

      Quote:

Get Domoticz.com for free! They implement Blockly for programming. Example here https://developers.google.com/blockly/ Programming can't be simpler.
With Domoticz you can program something like, if front door opens, turn on light, play Elton John to Speaker A for 5 minutes, and send an email notification; > if bathroom door opens, turn on light for 15 mins and play Lenny Kravitz to Speaker B for 15 mins; if door opens or any event on, send email notifications, etc.
I wish I knew of Domoticz before I invested so much money on other junks (cloud based). Yet, best solution for broke students

OpenHAB is also free but looks like you need a degree in programming languages to configure it..

      • Cheers mate. Yeah that's the thing i am not sure what plugins are included as part of the pro license. The last thing i need is to need to pay more to get sonos and foscam integrated. Not too worry about zwave devices as i am sure that's supported out of the box.

Thanks for the domoticz info mate. I'll check it out
        cheers

        • 99% sure Foscam is free. Sonos and Z-Wave are 100% free.

    • It looks like HS3 support Foscam cameras…
Sonos plugin is 3rd party. But it is free.

I was going to try OpenHAB… But with this discount I wonder if I should start with HS3 trial. :-|
