  Can only get some .xyz domains with discount. Tried several, all several thousand dollars. Yet I can get the same domain for a few dollars a year elsewhere. Not sure about the deal.

    Yeah tried a few single keyword ones and they are asking $18,000 per year (rather than a flat purchase fee and then standard annual fee). Looks like .xyz registrar is able to charge different domains different renewal fees, and maybe nothing to stop them from adjusting the fee for your particular domain once they found it "interesting" or "popular".

  I'm sure abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvw.xyz is already gone, why would you want any thing else.

  My thoughts on all these quirky domains it that, unless it fits in with the name of your business, why bother. Just going to confuse most non-techie people.

    I tried searching this exact domain just now haha

    I guess these domains are useful for clan / guild websites and such where those visiting are a very specific demographic.
