50

I know very little about this product, so I will quote this:

Bridge the gap between your PC and TV with the SMP-U10 USB media player. Simply store your digital content on a USB drive, plug the drive into the USB media player and enjoy your digital movies, music and photos on your TV with 1080P Hi Def Upscaling.

This media player is compatible with major video formats like DivX, MP4 and AVI, as well as MP3 and AAC music formats. You can even turn your TV into a large-format personal digital photo frame and share your JPEG photos with family and friends on your TV screen.

It just became quick, easy and fun to enjoy your PC content on your TV, all you need is the Sony SMPU10 media player to enjoy your movies, photos and music.

Features

  • HDMI™ (High Definition Multimedia Interface)
    • USB Playback (MP3/JPEG/DivX/AAC/WMA/LPCM/MPEG-1/Simple MPEG-4)
    • 1080p Upscaling Video Output through HDMI™ Connection
    • DivX® Playback
    • PhotoTV HD
    • BRAVIA Sync

Thing is, you will have to sign up for an account (it's free) before you can make a purchase. This is not an auction, this is a "buy it now" item.

Compared it to Staticice and felt this was good!

  • be careful 1080p unscaling

Looks like a good price for this type of product though one major negative is that it does not support h264. Also, many DVD players can already do DivX/Xvid/WMV/MP3 so this would be a redundant purchase for some.

    • the h264 thing is a big, big problem. If you were going to buy one of these media players surely you'd want to be able to play 1080p h264 etc

So this is a DVD player without the DVD drive?
The catalog in the mailbox today had a Sony DVD player with DivX, HDMI and USB for $99, not much more than this.

Or for the same $99, get a player that does all of the above, plus hi-def AVI, MKV, and bluray.

    • Except the Allure is a freaking huge machine. It's fine as a blu-ray but it's one unsightly media player.

      • Well, its standard width for your hifi rack. A lot smaller than the amplifier and more so the LCD/plasma on the other end of the HDMI cable.
If you want a portable media player, shouldn't it have its own screen and speakers?
