    Pretty sure it's not 4G

    • GSMArena says it is (HSPDA+ 4G) but the MS specs don't mention HSPDA+ at all. I was torn.

      • hsdpa+ is NOT 4G. People in advertising lie sometimes.

        • Probably don't lie, just too lazy to check. GSMarena has nothing to gain by lying. The reverse is true, in fact.

        • @tightwad:
Not GSMarena - one of the US carriers, I believe, was calling it 4G.
Technically, we should say "LTE", since there is no true 4G in Australia yet.

Has been as low as $29 multiple times…no deal!

    • +1

Yeah but it hasn't been for a while, so its still quite a bit cheaper than any other prices out there.

  • Alcatel Pixi 3 for $19 seems a better deal if you want epic slowness :)

    • +1

Try a Telstra Tempo instead if you want EPIC amazing slowness and a notification sound that somehow manages to sound like a shrieking harpy despite the speaker serving no other use at all, it really is that bad.

It's like they tuned it to be as much like scraping fingernails down a blackboard as possible.

But seriously I hear these Lumia's are actually half useable.

i will think about it if the logo is NOKIA.

  • This isn't 4G. They'd be awesome to use as hotspots if they were.

It's not a terrible phone, 1GB RAM keeps Windows Phone running along smoothly.

    • Yeah good phone as a hotspot and GPS. But def not 4g

      • Any good GPS software for this one? I believe Waze for Windows is pretty outdated.

Just use Here Maps, it's great.

Only 8GB of flash, but thats OK because there are hardly any apps worth downloading anyway.

    • yes the irony of the Microsoft ecosystem. All of them have a free SD card slot. Doesnt actually need one.

      • Depends how many videos, etc you keep.

  • If it is cheaper I will buy one to try out Windows phone.

  • When/how can I unlock this ?

    • activate sim then leave it for six months then contact Telstra to unlock it for $28 :)

Thank you for that answer :D

Pixi 3 4.5 model $39 at Australia post. It's 4g, has better screen, and flash on camera. $1.50 to unlock too, so cheaper if you prefer someone other than Telstra.

Most things about that are better, has band 28 4G too. But the touchscreen is not great.

      • Yep. Touch screen is horrible. Camera is crap but worth $39

      • install a tempered glass

  • Got one last week from DSE for my dad, whom complaint about his phone been too big, he is quite happy about this little phone. Upgraded to Win 10 and running very smooth, but you should reset phone after upgrade to eliminate some bug/issue.
Not 4G, and fixed focus camera is disappointing, couldn't zoom in or out when taking photo. Generally nice little phone, speaker is loud.

      Be careful using whom 😊

  • They run win 10 mobile ok too.

    • 10 is starting to get good. I would stick with 8.1 though. 8.1 is better for day to day use. The speaker and audio output is way better than anything else at this price point, so makes a great choice for those that are looking for portable music player instead of a phone. :D

I got the 29$ one a while back and use it as a backup phone if needed and an mp3 and groove player via Bluetooth in the house..
Have a great dlna app I connect into the nas and stream audio books for the kids too…
Great little device for home use…

  • I have the 530 but cant seem to get it unlocked without paying Telstra

    • I want to know more about this too

  • I can confirm this phone is only 3G (not 4G).
I can confirm having bought this the last time Woolworths were doing this deal.

If you use this on your home WiFi, work WiFi, and just use the 3G for email and navigation (if you have data on your plan), then this phone is a great phone. Camera is good enough for what it is - if you are serious about your photos you probably use an SLR, so this part of phone is just enough for the usual Facebook upload.

Migrated to this phone from an iPhone 4S and made me a MS convert (iPhone was a work phone).

Its one of the bang for buck Lumias that should not be overlooked.

Dont bother with Win 10 - keep the Lumia to the O/S that came with it - plus you get to keep the HERE maps and HERE+ drive.

However not sure why OPTUS doesnt do the same deal???
