Trade in 360/PS3/Wii Game for Free Pre-Order of Avatar DVD or Bluray and a Bonus Book - JB Hi-Fi

320

As the page says, trade in a PS3, X360 or Wii game for a free pre-order copy of Avatar on DVD or Bluray with a free book or in-game items for the game…

The deal is a little unclear as to whether the DVD/Bluray is 100% free but I assume it is?!?

Have a look at the exclusion list to ensure you aren't disappointed! Found here: http://www.jbhifi.com.au/images/games/excluded-games.pdf

  • Looks like a bargain.
    Trade in Uncharted PS3.

  • yeah pretty good

  • wth seems too good to be true?

so trade in $5 360 game and get avatar on blu ray for free?

or the games must not be on exclusions list?

I guess if they only accept games not on the exclusions list then it's not that great lol! Any games not on the New JB list will be over $20+

Now where to find the tradebait.. :P

    • Im sure there's better but (ps3)starwars:force unleashed isn't on the exclusion list and is $25 atm at EB games.

  • +2

has anyone seen the exclusison list i never knew there were that many games sheeeesh

    • +1

Yeah, it might better (shorter list) if they tell us which games we can trade ;-)

  • There's certainly a lot more games on the exclusion list since I last traded in about 2 years ago.
Still a bargain if you're bored of a game.

  • Yeah the exclusion list has gone to hell in recent times due to people exploiting it. However, you can still get games not listed for $20-
Have a look at game websites :) (GAME online have free express delivery)

  • Awesome deal, seems too good to be true. Do you think you could trade multiple games, for multiple copies?

  • well it does say "get avatar free"
so it should be free or else a lil misleading much

  • I'm tempted to buy a cheap $10 (including shipping) PS3 game off eBay to trade it in for a blu-ray copy of Avatar and an artbook, but I'm not sure if it will work?
Like the above said, it really does seem too good to be true.

The game I was thinking of was this:
    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SONY-PS3-College-Hoops-2K7-BrandNEW-S…

College Hoops 2K7… No, I haven't heard of it either until just now. Hence why I doubt I can trade this in.

    • It's not an Australian version which might possibly be a problem.

Plus now that it's been named as potential cheap tradebait on a public forum it will probably be added to the exclusion list. :D

    • that's nba 2k7? just a rename i think lol!

      they won't accept it :P

If you buy it, then it will be a gamble, not worth it.

It's free, I did my trade last Sunday, my wii game put a deposit of $29.95 on the Avatar Blu-Ray meaning completely free.

    • sorry i don't know about this trade in business. did you give them the wii game or not? why did you pay a deposit?

      • I gave them the wii game, it has to be one that is not on their exclusion list though.

    • JB HIFI online has it for $35, but yes it should end up free.

@Sharp - He gave them the Wii game, they put a $30 deposit on the Avatar Blu-Ray for him (which should turn out that he gets it when it's released at no additional cost)

      • Oh got it now thanks

Apparently jb is closed tomorrow for stocktake. I'll pay them a visit on Wednesday.

  • Ninja Gaiden II on x360 is not on the exclusion list
Currently $18 on GAME website with free postage
    http://www.game.com.au/ninja-gaiden-ii/xbox-360/NINJAGAMS

could make use to get a nice cheap bluray copy of Avatar?

    • Now that you've posted it on ozbargain, it'll probably be placed on the exclusion list tomorrow haha..

      • haha yeah,

the exclusion list hasnt been updated since 22/3. Considering they are having a stocktake, I would expect another large batch of games to be put on there after the stocktake is over.

edit it so they can't see :)

  • I'd rather get it from Amazon. Ordering from the UK currently costs 16.44 pounds <> approx $27.30 AUD.

Order 1 or 2 other blurays and it becomes even cheaper. Shipping time usually about a week if you can wait.

You'd think they'd let you trade in the Avatar game to get the movie ;)

  • so how does this work? trade in ANY ps3 game?

    • +1

so how does this work? trade in ANY ps3 game?

It works by reading what people have posted ;)

      • some talk about the exclusion list, while the ad itself says ANY game.

        • -3

You do make a very good point. I'm going to try trading in a game on the exclusion list - if they say no, I'll argue that their website itself says any game.

          • +4

@Adamiam: *Trade any with Conditions & Exclusions Apply!!! Don't think you can scam them.
Good luck with your argument :)

            • +1

@POWERevolution: True, but if you "click here" for details, the exclusion list is never mentioned. Also, when they run these types of promotions that use the exclusion list, it never says "any" game.
Still though, it'll probably be exclusion list based, but poorly advertised if it is.

              • @Adamiam: I dunno what you're reading mate, but exclusions are listed down the bottom (albeit in size negative 2 pt font)
No multiples of same game are accepted. Some exclusions apply click here or see in-store. Terms and conditions apply click here
You won't get your book, you'll just become one of those customers :)

  • Get yourself down to myer

    http://www.lasoo.com.au/offer/playstation-3-games/playstatio…

Pickup either: Megadrive Ultimate, Red faction, Wolverine for $20.00

They are all not on exclusion list for PS3.

Quick before the list is updated.

It's a good deal… but people just be aware that Avatar will obviously be one of those movies like Transformers/Batman that is worth next to nothing in a very short time indeed because EVERYONE buys them. Also be aware that there will no doubt be many special extra editions that are probably worth picking up if you are into that thing with about 20 discs of extras haha.

    • On DVD it will drop rapidly (especially if Coles or Woolworths do a "deal" like they did on Up), but it should keep it's value on Blu Ray.

    • Even if it will be worth less down the year or have better editions coming out, it's still a great visual treat to get it now and watch it at home.

  • Does anyone know if Aussie release of AVATAR will be Region ABC on Blu-Ray or only Region B?

  • crap deal

  • -1

so what are the cheap games you can get that arent on the list?

    • Look at my post above….

  • On the website it says PS2 games can be used as trade in

    • You can trade PS2 in general towards store credit. In regard of "trade x games, get this free": Trade offer applies to Wii, PS3 & X360 games only.

Went in and traded away Soul Caliber IV for Ps3 that I got from GAME online for $9 !

Come the 29th I get a shiny new copy of AVATAR on Blu-ray.

    Sweet deal :)

    • Hmm, I got a copy of SCIV that I don't really play…

  • Can confirm that JB allowed trading two different games for two blu ray copies so will end up with two copies of Avatar on blu ray for less than $20 outlay. Fell for their marketing strategy though, as I also spent money on other stuff while I was there.

    • what games did you trade?

  • Gonna go in tomorrow and do the trade deal. Where exactly do I go though? The sales counter? Or do I walk up to an employee in the movie section?

  • had to pay extra 10 dollars on top of trade in.
