  • Good one. is there any amd deal?

    • +1

Looks like it's cheaper to get one locally. R9 390x at MSY for $579.

      obligatory wait for pascal/polaris

      • +1

plus no global warranty for msi graphics cards

should a problem arise, shipping from aus is pretty dear too.

Would this work with mi Core 2 DUO?

    • +1

      Probably, yes.
You wouldn't get the most out of the card but the technologies are compatible at least.
The more important limiting factors would be the card length and height allowance of your case, available PCI power connectors and power delivery of your power supply.

    • +2

Lol. This GPU is 4x the worth of your current desktop…

You need a major system overhaul dude, not an upgrade.

    • On the tiny chance you're not being a dirty troll I would suggest you upgrade the C2D, even though it will work.

I took my 6970 from 2011 from my heavily OCed e6420 @ 3.4ghz to an i5 4670k and saw huge frame increases across the board with many games, and went from being unable to play certain titles at acceptable fps at 1440p, to being able to get away with using the 6970 until I upgraded to a 970 at the end of 2014.

    • Would this work with mi Pentium 4?

  • +4

Only problem is that by the time you receive the card the next gen will probably have already been announced.

  • +2

New Nvidia card to be announced soon, better off waiting for it.

    • Not at this great price point, though if you have $800 to burn on a GPU, you could probably stretch the extra mile for Pascal

      • Why do so many people think new gen means more expensive? Price/performance has always gone up for as long as I can remember so I would be expecting a ~$500 card to perform similar to this one.

        • -3

Because the 980Ti has gone down in price, from around $1000 to $800. The $500 Pascal card will be the 1070, which will perform nowhere near a 980Ti.

        • @deanylev:

AFAIK the rumors are that the 1070 will perform somewhere between 980 and 980ti

        • @getho: Well I'll be damned. You're right. Now I get why I was downvoted. I hadn't looked at many leaks, I just kind of assumed.

        • +1

          @deanylev:
doesnt seem worthy of a downvote. 1080ti will be insane :)

  • +1

Last I saw, you could also get a few different 980ti cards from Amazon DE for about $800 AU if someone doesn't want this particular model

  • +1

Still eligible for free division until 24th

  • Newegg have a lower-clocked (but cooler looking imo) card for $820 shipped, if you're impatient ;) http://www.newegg.com/global/au/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127895&cm_re=Msi_980ti--14-127-895--Product

The 2x, got me excited……but no not two units, the branding is 2x….almost sent me back to nvidia.
