  • which day?

    • I'm assuming it's tonight only…

      • Well that'd barely be worth a mention in this day and age. Reminds me though that back when being online cost about $5 an hour, one of the big providers celebrated something-or-other by giving users unlimited access for 24 hours. Was such a big deal I still fondly recall it over a decade later :)

  • Exetel has been like that for at least a few weeks.

  • Is this unlimited unlimited or 86gb unlimited?

  • I believe this will be for quite sometime. They changed my usage/account details, and I doubt they will "reduce/cap" it again.

This new Plan should only begin today (I didn't see this change yesterday) as I constantly monitor my own usage. Well, daily actually, a habit.. hahah

  • +2

    1) Not new
    2) They offer complete unlimited to their loyal customers
    3) Their network is to shiity to handle this (I've been using them for over 2 years)

The neg is for point 3, not a bargain when their network is already ridcolously slow, and this will make it worse.

why are you still using them after 2 years of shit?

      • +8

Is it because you like to suffer? Since your name is Pain Toad?

        • They are very good value wise. But reliability, latency and stability wise….they suck ass. I was with them for about 12 months, after that i churned to aanet and i have been with them for about 2-3years. Best ISP ive been with to date, though a little pricey now. I am on there 8mbs connection as i can't get adsl2

  • The member facilities page for my Exetel naked still shows 30/60GB limits.

I switched to them from Optus some time ago because they were $20-30/month cheaper, and my preferred alternative (Internode) no longer accepted new signups on Optus ports. Exetel service quality is about the same as Optus in my case.

    The problem with Exetel is:

    • It changes terms and conditions at a whim
    • You may at some stage have to deal with Larry Kaeto.
  • "From 1536/256 kbps
Speeds Achieved By Any User Will Depend On Many Factors And Can, Under Ideal Circumstances, Reach 19 mbps Down
(Average Speed Obtained From 100 Test Users In August 2007 Was 9.5 mbps Down And 840 kbps Up)"

Ummm.. is that any good? I'm currently using Iinet and quite enjoying their speeds..

    • You will most probably get similar speeds with Exetel if you swapped.

Why post this? There's no reference to prices at all.

I'm with Exetel and this isn't new plus it's not technically "unlimited".

Check the terms and conditions http://www.exetel.com.au/a_acceptable_use_adsl2.php

    9.1:

    d) For all plans that have an “uncharged” off peak period Exetel will deem any individual customer who downloads more than three times the average of all other customers on these types of plans in any period as “unfair users” and will ask such customers to move to another Exetel plan or to move to another provider. The maximum usage allowed in the off peak period each month will be displayed in the User Facilities but will never be less than 60 gbs per month.

    Neg for being Exetel
    Absolutely hopeless ISP.
Currently with them now and trying to get my issue resolved for over 2 months

    • +2

I'm with Exetel and for me personally, they are great.

      • Also with exetel and i reckon they are a great isp compared to optus.
and any problem i have had has been fixed within 24 hours usually a lot quicker.

  • Well, I switched from Optus (40GB + 20GB) to Exetel. Basically, they are using the same infrastructure. So, effectively, we are using Optus also.

So far, other than trying my BEST to DL as much as possible, they are Cheaper and has so much more data. I am so glad that I switched after 3yrs with Optus.

fyi: I switched about 3mths ago. Best move I ever did.

  • Worst ISP ever

Thorpef1 take your issue to the Ombudsman http://www.tio.com.au/make_a_complaint.htm but warning Exetel will cancel your service the minute they find out.

    • Thanks for that CheapLunch.

I know, Exetel have already recommended we move to another ISP if we are not happy.

We have been customers for over 5 years and there is now a problem with our line and they cant be bothered to help

      Bunch of lazy C#nts

      • Typical Exetel

  • Oh mans.. I can't make up my mind..

but i guess exetel will save me like 30 bucks a month..

and after all the comments.. hrmms.. i COULD download like 1TB a month if i had the option… sighs

they wont let you dl that much.
If you download say 100gb they will call you up for unfair usage and charge you or kick you off

  • Positive for 3 reasons:

    1. Creating competition amongst ISPs.
    2. Forcing my ISP, Internode, to offer better plans which is happening.
    3. Ensuring the network leechers stay away from my network =)
  • Before I signed up, I did alot of research on Whirlpool, I was also very worried when switching over due to MIXED reactions. But saving $30/mth and more Data, and no contract, I gave a go.

  • I can also vouch for saying that it's been unlimited off-peak downloads for quite a while now.

  • Been with Exetel adsl2 for 1yr and find it ok but it dies in da ass when leeching time starts.
Voted against the post because it will only lure more leechers. :-(

  • I have been a very happy and satisfied customer with Exetel.
Been with them for around three years (??? definitely over two years)- never had a problem with speed or otherwise. Sometime, I have downloaded 70 MB in less than a minute- from MS Sites- sometimes it has been slower. but nothing that I cannot live without.
    Cheers,

  • Exetel have been unlimited at night for years.
They were when I left them 3 years ago.
And were still when my Dad got kicked off 1 year ago.
(he complained to TIO about them so they cancelled his account).

The "unlimited" is limited to whatever they think is reasonable.
For example… 200gb off peak in a month was my Dad's record I think.
    They never complained about it.

  • don't jump the gun.
with Exetel the change wont take effect until next month
they done it before, so i bet this is the same trap.

  • Please modify your post - Its not available on "broadband" Broadband is ADSL and ADSL2 This is ADSL2 only

    • Wrong. I'm on ADSL (can't get ADSL 2) and have had this plan for months.

    • Sorry ozpete - I'm on ADSL as well and I have it. It's for ADSL and ADSL2
