Oooo sweet. I am suppose to fly to London next month. I can let my assistant know about this. Thanks!!

Better than paying full price emirates business class even if it is not my money.

    • Need an assistant? happy to work for business class flights to London.

      • -3

Sorry. I don't do the hiring.

I usually just sleep through my flights. No idea what my assistant does when I'm asleep.

        • +1

          Drink and watch movies.

  • How much are business class flights usually? $10k+??

    • +1

On my Emirates ticket, it's about $8k from Sydney to London excluding discounts (corporate discounts, fly miles etc.)

I just received a quote from Etihad and it's about $8700 (SYD-LONDon on business saver).

I'll probably have to travel to Perth to save like $2500.

      • +4

Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of a business class flight? (adding an extra 5 hours? vs saving money).

        • -3

The flight is already like 30 something hours with 2 stop overs in Dubai and Bangkok, so I don't really care. Plus I am not doing anything the day before my night flight, so I might see what's new in Perth.

If I want to sleep when I get on the plane in sydney, I have to stop at bangkok and dubai. If I go for an early morning flight with only 1 stop over in Dubai, then I have to endure a whole day of boredom on the a380 plane. There's a risk I might run into rich parents with their crying spoiled children (it's happened before), so night flights are better.

        • @cDNA: At least with the a380 you get access to the terrific bar! I once spent the entire DXB-LHR flight at the bar, good fun.

No idea why you would prefer the BKK flight as the business class seats aren't even fully flat, then there's the risk of getting the dreaded middle seat, and on top of that the extra time and hassle of going through BKK.

If you want sleep, then book on EK413 that leaves at 9:10pm.

          @bangbang:

I don't book any of my flights.

All I say is I want a night flight. I fly ~20 times a year, so I don't really have time to check all the flights on offer.
I thought all the Emirates A380 planes were the same.

        • @cDNA: They fly the B77W on the BKK route, which has different (inferior) business seats. You can be a little less discerning when work pays I guess :)

          @bangbang:

I just want to sleep without screaming children. :(

        • @bangbang:
The entire flight at the bar and you call that "good fun". lol
Cabin staff and other passengers probably have another expression for it.

        • @bangbang:

There is an actual bar on the A380's???

          I'm on it!

  • Coke rewards too?

Hilarious how it costs $6.5k+ to get from AUS-EU, but same flights the other way round fares are around the $3k mark in this sale.

    • That's because AU holiday season it reaching it's end, and we are moving into Winter ( not attractive )
While EU is going into Spring, Summer.
You can get Cheap Prices to EU in Sep / Oct. When the tickets from EU to AU are more expensive.

      • Still, I've never seen EU-AU on EY business for ~$3k before, it's a crazy good deal. You could do some nesting and make it work, but think I'll pass as I've already made some Europe plans for this year.

    • Flights to the USA are like that at the moment. You can find flights from MEL to SFO round trip for as low as AU$850, but flying from SFO to MEL round trip for the same dates (May to June) is at least US$1000

I tried Brisbane to Paris return - all tickets over $8000 !
    No thanks.

For those interested, Vietnam Airlines offer decent business class travel all the time. ie Sydney to Paris return at about $4200 and not a sale price.

    • I just did a few searches (SYD > LON) and they all came in around $8,500 once taxes etc were added.

      • +1

        Not sure where you're looking.

        I picked a random date: Syd-London return - 10 July/10August, business class and price was $US3,262

Edit: This was from their own website.

        • I just tried those dates, and yes, it is much cheaper (AUD$4318 SYD <> LON). Thanks for the tip.

  • +2

Spent a bit of time looking for any 50% off fares.

bunch of dates from Syd. These are non-existant.

    Example fares:
    Perth - Amsterdam from $5199
    Perth - London from $5363
    Sydney - Doha from $5513

sample fares… riiiight, where are the dates on these sample fares??

Looks like bait advertising to me, happy to remove the neg with some evidence.

    Extra discount code: T0U10ZW
Should be 10% off base fare I believe.

This sale is worldwide for Etihad - so you can take advantage of one of my favourite tricks: Fly a discount airline or award points to an Asian destination (the short leg), have a nice stopover, then fly Etihad Business to Europe.
For example, Departure from Manila: Oct 17, 2016 to Berlin, Return: Nov 1, 2016 for about $2000 depend on your exchange rate.
