BGMs can be obtained for free from Accu-Chek, or for free after cashback from My Chemist and Chemist Warehouse.

    Not a deal, sorry.

    • But is it a sannuo they you get cheaper? :)

    • Agreed. Free link here

They make money from the pricks (needles) and sell medication/drops. Potental customers for life!

That's Abbott not Accu-check. It is better to get an Optium Neo from Abbott. Comes with microUSB cable and plugs into the computer and provides data download and reports. Much better than typing things in manually if you're testing multiple times a week (or day).

        Pricks making cash selling pricks.

        Who would've thought!

you can usually pick up an accu-check nano for $39.99 and get a $40 cash back. this is not really a deal

The monitor itself is almost free, but they profit when you buy the consumables, testing strips.

  • Getting the test strip's are another issue

    Revision: this requires money. Accu-Chek doesn't ;)

You could give false info to Accu-Chek and still get the machine, so do these guys accept false money?

      Yes. Yes they do.

Mods.. Please move to forum as doesn't appear to be a deal.

    • Still a deal, just not a good one

  • Agree with all the points raised, especially in regards to sourcing the strips for this monitor, and also the fact that BGL monitors are commonly available free or at no net cost from the various manufacturers.

Also, I would question how accurate this device would be. To be honest, your health is one thing that you should bargain with or skimp on.

    • You can get the meters from much bigger more reputable manufacturers with 100% money back. How much you pay for something is not always a good indicator of the quality you'll get. Especially when subsidies come into play.

    • Oops sorry, I meant shouldn't!

  • Should they be TGA approved?

  • Also, you can't just drop-in to your local chemist and get more strips (which aren't all that cheap anyway)

The free ones you can get online you don't need to hand anything over but an address (obviously).

I've ordered 3 freestyle lite ones. One for me, one for my mum, and a spare. Never used a real name, and never been bothered by them afterwards either.

As mentioned above, they make their money on strips.

    • I guess mega medical companies aren't the only ones making money from strips…

Yes folks, think outside the box on that doozy.

Not a deal. (and I really want to neg this)

A word of advice, if you have Diabetes (I,II,GD,etc) stay away from these rubbish. Anyone with diabetes needs to record their numbers for insulin. Proper units are free (with rebate) and strips is where they make their money. But, if you are on the NDSS (The National Diabetes Services Scheme) strips can be very cheap.

Bl**dy hell, its your health and its diabetes, two things that you should not 'cheap out on'

  • Just no.

Seriously stick to Accu-Chek / Abbott Diagnostics or anything approved for use here, if you actually need it then it won't cost you a cent except for the test strips, depending on your condition and eligibility for NDSS.
