Officeworks has just dropped its price to match Harvey Norman's and save themselves some price-beating $$$.
Plenty of stores showing stock. Enjoy :)

at least its not an uncle bargain.
It is in Tassie…
hahaha
So Harvey Norman had it for this price before Officeworks?
Yes, they just don't want ozbargainers to price match.
Price matching is a bargain now?
Watch out for the influx of officeworks posts then..
This is very common. The Officeworks price match deal very often gets more recognition than the original posted deal.
Would HN beat that price?
No, but TGG might.
@unity1: My GG's had none. I wanted to use my gift card :(
@MissMurd3r: I suppose many stores may have run out or only have limited stock now that it's a run out model.
Gen 1 or gen 2?
So you can't see the difference with the photo?
Takes one quick Google search. But since you asked, it's a Gen 1.

@teehee: too late
I purchased one from officeworks last week for 34. Is there any policy of refunding the difference amount?
Buy a new one for $29 and use the old receipt to return it. Don't know if Officeworks would allow returns though.
Pretty sure they had once had a 14 day, no questions asked returns policy (like Apple). That said, I can no longer find this on their website.
There is no time period of return policy. They will refund if packaged in resellable condition. Just to be safe, return within 1 months, otherwise there is no time limit as officeworks has change of mind policy. Read their terms and conditions it is stated there.
It's 5 bucks, get over ot
:(
That's not the OzB spirit at all
Then why post deals which save you 1 or 2 bucks in coles/woolies deals..!! :P
$5.00 buys me lunch…
you buy lunch?
Here's their returns policy info, I suppose you could refund then re-purchase.

Just return it (change of mind) then purchase it again. I have done that many times (when the price has dropped) and when staff have asked management if it is allowed management reluctantly admit there is nothing to stop a customer from doing so.
It is more to their benefit that you repurchase the item you return otherwise they have to discount the item since it will be a customer return.
Don't forget, until August 2016 every Chromecast purchase comes with free 90 day Google Play Music subscription (usually $25.97)
Google Play: Buy Chromecast and enjoy unlimited music from Google Play Music, free for 90 days.
1. Promotion only open to users in United States who have purchased and set up a Chromecast on or before August 1, 2016.
2. This offer is not available for anyone who has previously subscribed to Google Play Music, the unlimited music service from Google Play, either on a paid or free trial basis.
Have I got the wrong page?
If you're looking for the Australian T&C's, there are here.
Thanks!
redeemed from Google cast app on my phone. Cheers :)
None at Prospect in South Australia.
According to the website. None on the gold coast. Closest store with "low stock" is an hour away.
Can someone tell me if this can cast normal programs like vlc or media player?
I don't think it can. It states on the box it can only stream from such sites as Youtube, Netflix, Stan, Hulu etc. It doesn't seem able to stream an mkv file from your PC however :(
EDIT: Upon searching aparently you can use Plex to stream whatever you want :)
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201776287-Chromeca…
It can't cast programs, but you can use a Chrome extension to play video files (including .mkv)

I got a Chromecast today from HN. Can 100% confirm that it plays anything through Plex. AWESOME!!!
Hahah got it with the pricematch on Monday. *evilGrin
Hopefully I can Pricematch at the Goodguys so I can get rid of a gift card I have.
Just remember Gen 1 only does 2.4Ghz whilst Gen 2 does 5Ghz as well.
Can someone confirm this version 1 chromecast supports screen mirroring, specifically from Android devices. The only reason I need it is for this as it is non supported source.
It will screen mirror on my android phone, BUT it needs to work through a router. You cant simply link your phone to the chromecast, you need to link both to the same wireless network. I use one for work, so I carry a little pocket wifi router around with me.
you also need to be running android 4.4.2+ for screen mirroring
Should I get this or is it worth the upgrade to V2?
Have the same question in mind…
don't buy either. :)
If you have 5GHz WiFi at home get v2.
Can it play HEVC h265?
back to $34
Just because Harvey Norman have it back to $34.
no it says $34 but add to cart says $49
Tried to buy one this morning and it scanned at $34. Price tag on the shelf had both $34 and $29 stickers, so I got it for $29.
Good find, but in a way its an anti-bargain because we can't price match anymore. :P
