I got one of these last time to take away on holidays. Viewing angles are poor but otherwise its surprisingly nimble. Good value i reckon.

    • I bought the ASUS EeeBook I found that the glossy screen is better and support touchpad gestures.

    • I was thinking of grabbing one for the same reason. How was it for standard email, browsing, etc?

I got the EeeBook for the wife to lug back and forwards from Uni, since it's small and weighs less than a kilo. She doesn't use it as her main machine (she has a desktop for that) but for running Word email, general surfing while she is at uni, it handles it all surprisingly well given it's only got 2Gb RAM. I also bought a 64Gb microSD card which gives it a reasonable amount of usable space for assignments etc.

My daughter use it for school, it's good enough for Office Apps, except for the keyboard, a bit cramp and spacebar is hard to press

        Perfectly fine for basic uses.

    No USB 3.

    • does that make the laptop bad?

      no

      • Not much storage on the netbook what is the point for USB3?

        • Not much storage on the netbook, so one would possibly use a USB stick to provide some. This thing is slower and less useful than my aging Samsung 303C Chromebook, which does.

    • Also no GeForce Titan X SuperClock 12GB Graphics.
And that would be about as useful.

  • Does anyone still have one of their vouchers that they'd be willing to part with? :D

  • FYI, there is no 5ghz wifi, not friendly for students in NSW.

there is no 5ghz wifi, not friendly for students in NSW.

5GHz wifi in itself is not friendly for students. But wait a few more years to find out more about what microwaves are doing to kids (and adults).

      • Whenever such a comment comes people just shoot you down.Same as the industry which ignorrs the minority affected by wi—fi
Few countries banned wi—fi in schools.

        • Whenever such a comment comes people just shoot you down.

The population consists of 99.9% ignorants, so I expected more downvotes actually…not to worry.

    • I wish to clarify that in NSW, all public schools have wifi network of 5ghz only. laptops or tablets with 2.4ghz wifi can not connect. Hope this makes sense to parents who want to buy device for kids using at schools.

      • I, for one, wast not confused about what you meant. But in my opinion, (as usual) the bigger issues are ignored regarding 5GHz. I'd sooner home-school than send my young kids to a school bathed in 5ghz wifi.

But it's red. It should go faster.

  • Does anyone have a unused HN voucher? Apparently, they have stopped handing them out now.
