Eneloop AAA or AA Chocolat 8pk $21.99 / AA Tropical 8pk $21.99 + More Price Drops @ Dick Smith

670

The prices of eneloops have dropped further, now it's just a matter of deciding the ideal time to make the bite before eneloop discounts permanently leave ozbargain :(

Plenty of stock available on the chocolat/tropicals, so might be possible to wait for further price drops.

Available online or in store - but you'd probably be a lot better off getting it in store rather than online.

If you can find them stock…

Entered in like 5 NSW postcodes before I stopped bothering.

A few stores with stock of the eneloop chocolat in NSW:
Broadway, Neutral Bay, Bondi, Leichhardt Market, Randwick, Ashfield, Chatswood, Rockdale, Chullora, Roselands, Miranda, Bankstown Square, Mt Druitt, Blacktown, Parramatta, Merrylands, Hornsby, Top Ryde,

      • +1

        Are these really that good?

        • +5

You arent an ozbargainer unless you have had 3 or 5 of these packs bought previously.

        • No I don't think so. I have some weakened and charging at different rates from same pack, but they are a bit better quality and LSD which is great.
There are brands I've found as good or better. Non-lsd Panasonic I got with a cheap phone, are still going after 15 years. And Fuji seem better.

I think people just like elephants or some such.

        • +2

          @Bargitrage: LSD is always great

        • +1

          @sblash:
          It is ;->

        • @Turd:
Hmmm, I still don't own any. I know they are good, but I bought NiMH batteries from Jaycar 12 years ago and they still hold their charge nicely. Also Coles clear out their NiMH range for about $1 per battery every now and then. But for around $2.75 a battery, it's still decent value.

Tropical AA 8pk and Chocolat AAA 8pk seems to be available at most VIC stores

Chocolat AA 8pk is out of stock at most VIC stores

    Haven't checked the rest

Thanks, my fat fingers have done it again XD

      • doesnt matter…. all sold out in vic anyway! :P

damn that looked to be worth getting…

  • +7

Hopefully they get to 14.XX again. Not biting at $22.

    • +1

      Pricetracker

Yeah hopefully theres still stock left when this drops further.

  • +5

I don't trust dick smith enough to make an online order or to cover warranty so yeah unless its such a bargain that if it fails i wouldn't care - then i would buy it.

    • +3

yes tried to get a defective item under warranty replaced or refunded and refused.

  • +1

The Tropical 8 pack is available in Eastlands (VIC).

Scored the last 4 of AA 2pack from Springvale. Still a good price for a total of $23.96

    • The awkward moment when someone calls Eastland, "Eastlands".

      • +1

Yeah I mean, its not Norflans

I disagree with the info on plenty of stock. Did a search on chocolate, tropical, pro and combi packs, only chocolate and tropical showing one store available and need to check with store too. That's a neg from me to DS, not to OP :(

    • Plenty of stock available on the chocolat/tropicals

I've done a search and could find 26 NSW stores with stock, so I think it's quite a bit of stock, 'plenty of stock' considering that it is a liquidation sale. I've found HN deals with little stock and only a few stores available in each state, yet no one criticises HN, it's always the Dick.

I've edited out the other deals from the title, as I could only find a few stores showing stock on the others.

    • Not a valid neg. I did a quick seach for tropical in my area and all 3 of my nearby stores have stock. I think plenty of stock is a valid statement.

      • -3

It is a valid neg from me because of all my local 10 stores only one show in stock in Sydney, even that the stock availability needs to be confirmed in store. Obviously I am not going to drive 50km to buy them, the petrol is going to cost me more than the saving. Thus the neg from me.

As for people only criticise DS and not HN? That's false. HN is well known as Hardly Normal and often get criticised too.

        • +6

It is a valid neg from me because of all my local 10 stores only one show in stock..

          Its not all about you…😐

        • +2

@nocure: When OP claims it has plenty of stock, only 1 out of 10 local stores in Sydney have them, I don't consider it as plenty of stock. Plenty of stock means at least more than half of stores have stock readily available, otherwise don't mention plenty of stock.

        • @edfoo: obviously Sydney needs more negative gearing to occur so that stock prices are affordable and we can have new eneloops on the market.

      • Stock showing in Browns plains and Indooroopilly QLD.

        • +1

I had no stock for Indooroopilly when I checked 10 mins ago, but Browns Plains had them. Both stores are local to either my work or where I live so I ordered some from Browns Plains. This is for AA

I've ordered stuff for click and collect from there before but they said they didn't have it when I got there, so hopefully that doesn't happen this time.

        • @butterbuts:
Let me know if you want me to check BP…headed that way today.

    • -2

Wow, the mod has removed the neg vote. Amazing <rolled eyes>

I wonder if Coles or Woolies advertising their Telstra $30 prepaid kits for $10 again, if someone mentions plenty of stock but only 1 out of 10 stores have stock, will they receive the same response here? Such discrimination.

P.S. Again this has nothing against OP, I appreciate his effort of posting the deal. Just sick of DS with so very limited stock and I tend to ignore most of their deals nowaday. Just the mention of "plenty of stock" is misleading here.

      • +3

Wow, the mod has removed the neg vote. Amazing <rolled eyes>

Hi edfoo. It was actually revoked by the community as your comment received -6 votes :)

      • Wow, the mod has removed the neg vote.

        Nope.. the community did.

Again this has nothing against OP.

That's said alot around here and imo a negative vote does affect the poster..Yeah.. ok some accept it but most take it too heart.Just accept the deal for what it is and move on..if it helps a handful of people then its worth posting.

      • This Stalinist place took out a few of mine in past.
Why have a completely and utterly unreal voting system???

    • +1

People are pimples. Good comment. Thanks for effort and balanced view. I'm plussing even though it's pointless.

      • -1

It was a nationwide deal and every state had 3+ stores with stock which means plent of stock. If it was a state/store specific deal then it would be a valid neg.

  • +2

(+) for mentioning eneloop, (-) for no stock

    • +14

looks like you are making your own battery right there.

      • +3

I'm going to have to charge you for criminal battery.

.. I'll see myself out now.

  • +1

Whats with Eneloops and stupid colours? Did their marketing division think people care what colour their batteries are?

    • It helps to keep them sorted at home.

Did their marketing division think people care what colour…

      Same as skins on phones.

  • Thanks OP! Ordered some Eneleoop Pros and also an overnight charger for a mate. I'll have a nice drive in the country today to a Dicks with stock!

  • Eneloop tropical still available in Sunshine

  • Enveloop AAA 4 pack $9 at masters click and collect only, and maybe certain stores
check clearance section on stores website

    • +6

Enveloop? Something tells me they're not geniune.

      • Nah they're definitely genuine Enveloops. Pretty expensive though.

        • +5

Maybe they come with postage included.

  • Plenty of stock in WA and TAS… and people say there is no stock ;)

    • I cant find any stock of the Eneloop Pro AA in Perth South

      • Perth CBD Large, Belmont and Innaloo Large currently.

  • Eneloop geez… Haven't had my full dose of coffee yet

  • I've tried searching online and gone into some stores, any Eneloop PRO left in VIC?

    • Pro's have been sold out in VIC since the last sale which began the day they went into receivership.

  • DSE have the superior made in Japan eneloops reduced to $23.99. Might be a better deal for some.

  • Not that great of a price for the 8 pack Eneloop AAA Chocolat. It's previously been $14.98.

  • I am after Rechargable AAA (4 Pack) and everything seems to be sold out for pickup in around Baulkham Hills (Sydney) 2153 :(

  • -1

I was in a Dick store yesterday and saw chocolate AAA's still with a price tag $54.98, nope, maybe if they hit that sub $15 mark…

    • I noticed the same thing but I asked for a price check and bought some for $21.99.

  • +1

I am very disappointed with my chocolate eneloops compared with the tropical. on the packet it claims 65% retention after 5 years. Well my packet was manufactured July 2014 yet when I opened the packet and put them in my smart charger it said they were at 20% to 30%

    • -1

On the off chance you're not joking, they mean the total capacity will be at least 65% of the stated capacity after that period of time. That particular specification doesn't refer to how fast or slow the battery will self-discharge while in storage.

      • I am obviously old and dumb. I'm afraid I don't understand. My charger tells me when the battery is at 100%. I just presumed that is capacity. but it really is voltage??

        • Your experience sounds disappointing. I wouldn't stress too much, try to recharge them and see how they go. Voltage is a good measure of capacity. An even better measure is voltage when under a load.

        • +1

          @pinchies:

Voltage is a good measure of capacity.

Only for alkaline batteries; for NiMH batteries it isn't reliable because of the relatively flat discharge curve.

        • +2

          @eug:
I would say voltage is a very poor bordering on irrelevant measure of capacity with NiMh.
@Hooray failed eneloops are extremely rare I wouldn't worry at all, they are very hardy and most of the differences people discuss are not going to make a bit of difference to nomal household usage. Even if you only got 500 chage cycles (they claim 2100) out of them and used them completely every week you would still have TEN YEARS of use.
Just charge and use, they will be fine. If you want to actually step up and learn more than you every wanted to know head over to candle power forums are search for eneloops.

      • My understanding is the opposite - that if fully charged, they will still have 65% remaining of charge after that time. The cycles count is the one that refers to maintaining a minimum acceptable total capacity over time.

    • Keep in mind that they aren't pre-charged to their full capacity out of the factory.

  • I can only find Tropical in stock at 5-6 closest stores in Perth, everything else is sold out.

Are these prices C&C only or if I swing by a DSE tonight are they likely to be the same price providing they are in stock?

    • The tropical ones scanned up as $30 despite the website showing the lower price. I tried to get it at $22 but the sales assistant said sometimes they have daily deals and the lower price wasn't applicable.

  • Liverpool has stock of everything ask for mike and he'll help. They are keeping everything out back

  • you vultures got em all sold out

  • I need Eneloop charger…

    • Same. I'm rocking an ALDI charger.

    • I just ordered a SkyRC MC3000 based on recommendations from another thread. It hasn't arrived yet, but it looks like a monster. Totally different to what battery chargers were last time I owned one 10 years ago.

Looking forward to the new toy when it arrives.

    • I'm currently using an Xtar Vc4 charger

      http://m.gearbest.com/chargers/pp_160440.html

But man the SkyRC looks too damn pricey

    • Hi

ENELOOP AAA Chocolat 8pk $14.98 before. This price isn't good for Made in China ones

  • I only buy them when they hit $15 for 8 including postage, used to happen all the time now people think around $20 for 8 is good and still got to pay postage on top

  • Pre-eminent RIP Eneloop deals :(

  • None in store at Rhodes NSW.

  • When do Dick Smith close up final?

    • Seven weeks

  • +1

Can't wait for DS to close, so we stop with these repeative deals. Ive never gotten these batteries, never will bother. Hurl ur worse abuse, Im a true ozbargainer cos I don't need it :)

    • The whole world is all about you isn't it. :)

      • -1

        Why not ;)

    • +1

Although i have a bunch of eneloops (good for game controllers and torches) i agree that im glad dodgy dicks daily deal spam emails have stopped being cut and pasted to ozbargains front page

However, the void will be filled by other 'deals' such as ebays weekly discount offer and free phone apps - not to mention youtube videos and SBS on Demand

  • +6

I must be the only ozbargainer who hasn't bought any eneloops. I don't own a single one.

    • Now there are 2 ;)

      • +1

        There can be only one!

    • Make that 3

Now go away Dick Smith, i'm sick of your so called deals

      • Dick Smith 15m Cat 6 Crossover Cable $1.20

I'm here for this. I consider that to be a very good deal.

        • If you can find it…
It's been on clearance for a few weeks now

        • @mmd: Probably my fault. I bought far too many in a couple of stores.

    • I'm the 4th

  • In Perth city (William St) the 8 pack Tropical AA (Japanese) scanned at $29.xx, and even though its' $21.99 on the website they wouldn't budge. The Chinese made AAA Chocolates were $21.99 though. Plenty of both stock though (may be 10 of AAs and 20 of the AAAs).

    • I just bought a set of Tropicals from that store for $21.99 without any asking or fuss 2 hours ago.

      Very little stock left though.

      • Did they scan $21.99 straight up, or did you need to point them to their website to prove it's that price?
