$500 Matched by ANZ if Eligible (Healthcare Card/Concession Card) and in a Course

300

You will not be eligible if you are paid well! But this might be of use to some people who might need the help.
There are strict eligibility criteria and terms and conditions of course! But ANZ is matching your savings to $500 for educational expenses if you meet the criteria and complete their workshops!

You may be eligible to join Saver Plus if you or your partner:

  • have a Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card;
  • have some regular income from work;
  • are at least 18 years old; and
  • are a parent or guardian of a child at school or are doing a vocational training course yourself.

You can apply to join Saver Plus by contacting your local Saver Plus Worker in your region. On being accepted into the program, you will set a 10 month savings goal with help from your Saver Plus Worker and will open an ANZ Progress Saver* account.

The program also includes 10 hours of fun, informal financial education workshops.

Once you successfully complete the program, ANZ matches your savings dollar-for-dollar, up to $500. This money can be used for education costs (either your children's or your own) such as computers, uniforms, books and sports equipment.

To apply for Saver Plus:
Call 1300 610 355
SMS your name and postcode to 1300 610 355

Saver Plus is an initiative of Brotherhood of St Laurence and ANZ, delivered in partnership with Berry Street, The Benevolent Society and The Smith Family and other local community agencies. The program is funded by ANZ and the Australian Government Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, with ANZ providing matched savings for participants.

      That's a sure way to lose money

  • i wonder if you have a health card because you are getting a centrelink payment and doing a TAFE course you qualify to apply or not? The program also includes 10 hours of fun, i wonder how this will be run?

  • well I won't be eligible for it (not complaining!) but I think it is a good initiative. Better than the rest of the banks that just charge fees!

  • I'm not happy that you have to provide personal details before they will divulge the terms and conditions.

  • 10 months saving, with 10 hours of 'fun' training for a maximum return of $500? It would be pointless to save any more than $500 in this account, as I guess you get zero interest/reward on anything above $500.

    So I guess the conditions are you have to save more than $500?

    It says has to be used for educational costs? How do they track that? You'll have to take in receipts before they give the money?

    All you people knocking this need to rethink it..

    Me personally; I fit all the criteria. My partner has a HCC (my income isn't phenomenal), we've got 3 kids - so the idea of getting an extra $500 towards school expenses is actually a REALLY BIG DEAL.

    I'm seriously going to look into this, thank you for providing the information.

    • I don't think people are knocking it, but be sure to check the fine print and conditions before locking into a 10 month 'contract'

    I've done the ANZ program before when it was up to $1000. There's no catch to it, it's just part of the bank's "corporate responsibility" in getting consumers to understand how important it is to save money, and also teaching you how. There are 4 workshops that are 2 hours each and you complete activities over the duration. It's pretty worth it for $500.

    • when were the workshops held?

      would like to participate, but maybe difficult during weekdays

      • I have no idea as I am not eligible. Since people are required to work you would imagine that they would factor that working hours would be difficult. Maybe someone who has tried can answer

  • i pass all of the criteria except for the fact that i don't work.
    i do get centrelink however..
    would i be eligible?

    • Would be up to the bank but it sounds like you may not meet the criteria of having regular income. But I suppose its worth asking the bank. Nothing to lose

  • Pity people don't learn how to manage their money before they have kids. Frankly I'd rather ANZ reduced my fees before giving it away like this. Run the course by all means, but giving away $500!

  • me and the wife passed all of the criteria and were told on the phone we both could apply. however at the meeting i was told only one of us could apply since only one person at the same address is allowed. I think this is a bit unfair. Can anyone confirm if this rule is indeed correct?
