I already put it in the body of the post. If you can get cashback, it's much cheaper from Kogan eBay.

Looks like Kogan is selling the Asian variant, and Expansys is selling global variant. The former lacks band 28 (700mhz) which optus and telstra will be using in the future.

I'd go for Expansys. But if anything goes wrong, it would be more difficult to deal with them than Kogan (or so I've read).

    From GSMarena:
    Asian model (KOGAN) - LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 8(900), 26(850), 38(2600), 40(2300), 41(2500) -
    Global model (EXPANSYS) - LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 9(1800), 17(700), 18(800), 19(800), 20(800), 26(850), 28(700), 38(2600), 40(2300), 41(2500)

I stand corrected. Yeah I would prefer to buy from Kogan than expansys or Android enjoyed. Kogan's after care service is not too bad. I had an item replaced before.

Optus and Telstra are already using 700mhz ……. so buying a phone without it seems a bad idea if it's a great data experience that you are after, especially inside buildings or congested areas which users of these types of phones are.

  • so, I just want a phone that works on Optus 4G that has stock android.

    Is this it?

      Optus ZTE Fit $79.20 - http://www.dicksmith.com.au/prepaid-mobile-phones/optus-zte-…

Optus 4G (even has band 28) - Check
Stock android (with ZTE skin) - Check

      Just saved you ~$350

      • forgot to mention I wanted something faster than my 2 year old OnePlus One

Definitely get the Nexus 6P. Ignore this deal as it's a midrange phone. Not flagship.

        • Ye, if you are on OPO, you won't see that much improvement with 5X…

Wait for a good deal on 6P I think. (like myself :P)

        • @CheapCoffee: Well personally I just might buy this to get rid of my terrible OPO, this thing phantom touches like crazy and OnePlus refused to replace it

lol comparing budget phone to a midrange one

        Crappy unusable camera - Check
No future software updates - Check
poor low resolution tft screen that's hard to view outside - Check
Battery that overheats and turns off phone - Check

Yes you saved ~$350, but you are also getting what you paid for at the end of the day.

        • No one compared. It was a separate question. 'A phone with optus 4G and stock android'. It was only clarified later that the phone should be faster than oneplus one. Plenty of people spend more money than required for items above and beyond their own needs, ESPECIALLY on ozbargain.

  • Do the problems like lagging or wifi problem still existed in Nexus 5x?

  • I can't recommend enough getting an nexus phone directly from google. I've had to have my nexus 5 replaced a couple of times, the last time was two years and three months after purchase. No issues with warranty expiry. Just explain the issue and they send you a replacement, and you send your old one back.

    • Can I know what was the issue? I also purchased Nexus 5 from Google on the first day. I had camera issue which is a blur black dot shown when taking photo.

I had a stuck power-button issue. The phone goes into a reboot loop. I could fix it temporarily by repeatedly pressing the power button for a minute, but eventually that didn't work anymore.

I just called and explained I had an issue with the phone going into a reboot loop. He asked me to do a few standard support approaches (hold buttons etc), but none work, and he eventually said he'd get me a replacement. I never mentioned warranty expiry, statutory warranty or anything. Google is fairly good that way, honouring warranty past two years, but of course it only works if you bought it through them. Just be nice to the support representative.

    • What do you say to get post warranty service?

      • What do you say to get post warranty service?

What do you mean? He has rung Google, told them the fault and they have sent him a replacement handset.

I mean it is out of warranty.

Did he have to imply the Satutory Warranty thing?

        • @SamR:

I mean it is out of warranty.

Google are very generous with their warranty.

Did he have to imply the Satutory Warranty thing?

You CANNOT imply anything, they have already provided two years warranty. How much clearer does it have to be, he rang Google and they provided coverage out of warranty. This may or may not happen for the next caller.

          @Maverick-au:
So buying from the Google Store is great because out of warranty you may get lucky and get a sympathetic call centre worker to send you a new phone.

          Or maybe not.

Sigh you just don't get it….. for the two year warranty period you get guaranteed of an ADVANCE replacement phone for your faulty handset. Name a retailer that will do the same for your Nexus handset…..

          Or maybe not.

Another benefit is they will often replace out of warranty without charge. But of course you just don't get this and it's people like you who ruin these benefits for everyone because you will ring up and demand it because XYZ had theirs replaced out of warranty.

          @Maverick-au:

I get it, you have had a bad day.

Rather than ruining it for everyone I think I am improving it for everyone.
