  • Hmmmm I3… :-(

  • Would this laptop be sufficient for coding in Python/HTML/CSS etc? Friend started IT degree and I'm looking out for a decent laptop for him.

    Cheers!

    • Yes. More than enough.

    • Coding is basically all about the screen and keyboard. JB stocks the same model (different specs) so they'll probably have a display model, he could check it out in person before buying.

      • Except this deal could end, and for anything this guy is likely to do this laptop will have no issues.

  • Got one , thanks

Can anyone recommend a good value 8gb RAM to replace in it?

Also will Dell be sending me the Win 10 OS on a disk? Want to upgrade the SSD to larger size

  • Would this be adequate for editing RAW on Lightroom?

    • +1

Yeah easy. I'd recommend getting a 8GB memory stick and upgrade the RAM though.

      • Deleted - replied to wrong comment

      • Will upgrading memory void the warranty?

        • Highly doubt it, unless there's a "don't tear this sticker" blah blah.

Every laptop I've opened up has had the ram and hdd slot available for upgrade. Only thing is that if it's soldered on which I don't think these ones are.

Worst case scenario is that you have to send it back for warranty in which case you'd just replace it with the old ram before sending it off.

For the price, this is AMAZING!!

I bought one last week, for $1000, really happy with it!!

    • Good to know…..how long did it take to get to you?

    • -1

      for $1000

      Ouch! That sucks.

  • Amazing price!

  • Just curious what makes the battery prismatic?

    • I wonder if it means the cells completely fit together in that when they are round (as they used to exclusively be) you would have less volume? Wild guess

  • +1

Does anyone know if there is GST on this thst can be claimed per TRS?

Its from Malaysia so maybe not?

    • I am also interested in an answer

      • +4

        Yes you can.

A Dell Australia Tax Invoice with ABN will be sent to you shortly before the item is shipped.

THe tax invoice is for the full eBay price (before the 20% off)…..taking the final price to $565 (after TRS refund). Bargain!

  • I absolutely love mine. Have the 2015 i7 model with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD.

  • Out of stock..

  • Sold out. What about the 15 inch one?

    • It is heavier and there are tons of laptop within that price range. Nothing special.

  • I know that pictures say no… but was this the one with the built in stylus?

Because on Dell website I found one which as exactly the same specs and rrp but comes with the stylus..

I would say that this is last year model but the CPU seems to be the same..

    • this one has stylus????

      • It should.. See under 'ports'..

Anyway I believe the pictures are wrong. On website it is silver gray.

  • Thanks OP, I bought it last night. Hard to find a 13" FHD touchscreen laptop with backlit keyboard at that price.

    • And it lasts more than 5 hours under light usage.

  • Seems to be back in stock.

    • They'll sell hundreds of these at this price over the coming promo period.

  • Mmmm…would pull the trigger but don't think I can live with an i3? Hoping the i5 model goes on sale before the code expires. Could be a chance as from memory Dell update their specials every Thursday? So here's hoping!!!

    • +1

This has a much faster and more modern cpu, but it is more like a traditional laptop in that it doesn't have the detachable screen

      • +1

Yes, a point that the Toshiba listing doest make very clear….. It is a tablet with a detachable keyboard. This is an ultrabook with touchscreen.

All the weight and components of the Toshiba are in the screen making it top heavy when attached to the keyboard.

  • able to play H.265 HEVC?

  • Is this the slightly revamped Special Edition?

  • Glad its in stock again, bought one

  • Really, really tempted to buy…

Does anyone know if the HD and Ram are upgradeable?
Can see this being an issue for the wife in a year or two…

  • out of stock again

  • Why is the 13.3" with the 128GB SSD so much more popular than the 15.6" with an internal 500G HDD? I would have thought the bigger screen is better value?

    • +1

Depends on what your use-case is. Many people already own a desktop PC and simply want a secondary device which they can carry around easily. Also, a larger display means more battery usage.

  • Back in stock. Got one. Thanks OP.

  • Can anyone recommend a good slip case for this?

  • Anyone else received there estimated delivery date? Mine is 22/3 to Sydney. Not exactly fast!

    • Mine says posted…is there a way of tracking the delivery?

      • Found it

Once dell ebay gives you a dell order number plug it in here to track.

Mine says pending payment still but it just shiwn up as posted on ebay so bit of a delay.

Hopefully hy end of day I can track it.

        https://www.dell.com/support/orders/au/en/audhs1

        • There are 7 stages on the DELL tracking page…

          Order Received
          Work in Progress
          Manufacturing Build Complete
          Ship from Factory
          In Transit
          With Local Carrier
          Delivered

They mark eBay as posted once you order reaches the "order received" stage.

My order is at "work in progress", and they advise it will take 12 more days from there. I'm surprised it will take so long given it's not a custom configuration.

  • Out of stock again.

  • so what the deal with the 15" having 2 prices on the dell store? one AU $999.00 other AU $799.00
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-Inspiron-15-7000-Series-2-in…
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-Inspiron-15-7000-Series-2-1-…

  • just realised it shows that there's a passive stylus included on http://www.dell.com/au/p/inspiron-13-7359-laptop/pd?ref=PD_O… would this listing include one as well?

    • Same model number so yes

  • keeping an eye on this one if it restocks but now the DFO has a few i7 models with SSD and 8GB ram for $899….
just trying to lock one in now:
    http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/product…

    • Yeah have been going through that list every eerk but very limited are 1080p , they all mostly 768

      • Are the 1920x1080 1080p?? either way had a play with one at JB and it's a nice screen, pitty the border is so thick but for that price

        • Yeah bezel large and edges not smooth, so its not best looking laptop but from the price and specs its a great buy.

        • @bargrin:
Not sure what happened but just after I requested a model all the listings for Inspiron's disappeared…. see what happens if I got one or shops closed for the weekend….

        • @Phatc69

The thick bezel is the same with all "two in one" brands ….. this is where you thumbs will support the screen in your hands.

There aren't many thin bezel ultrabook touch screens out there …. The Dell XPS is one, but at three times the price, I'll live with the thick bezel !

  • Bought this one three days ago. Delivery sucks though! Will be delivered between 22 Mar - 28 Mar.

    • In case you didn't notice, it has to come from Malaysia. Considering it takes 1-2 weeks for us to receive anything in Perth even from within Australia, I think waiting a couple of weeks to receive a parcel from overseas seems more than reasonable.

      • +1

True! However, this was kind of comparison from me as I recently bought Google Pixel C from Google store. That was shipped from Singapore, delivered in 4 days without paying extra for express shipping. Well, that was GOOGLE!!

        • That's absurdly fast! We often have to wait 3-4 days just to receive a local Perth delivery!

    • Possibly made to order.

      • Just looked up on Dell website to track my order and yes, looks like they are made order.
        Order Received - ticked
        Work in Progress - ticked
        Manufacturing Build Complete - ticked
        Ship from Factory - ticked
        In Transit
        With Local Carrier
        Delivered

        • Mine is showing:
          Manufacturing Build Complete

        • Mine is also showing Manufacturing Build Complete. It's been on that for 4 days now.

Delivery date is set for this Thursday. Hard to believe if it hasn't left the factory.

    • My order specified the same time-frame but has since been changed to the 18th.

  • Someone has left negative feedback on the Dell ebay page regarding this model, indicating DELL has run out of stock.

    • Laptop delivered this morning….all seems to be working well.

      • Ok cool, so got it whilst still showing "Manufacturing Build Complete" on Dell site.

Mine says same with expected delivery 21st, so this Monday.

        • Mine jumped from "Manufacturing Build Complete" to "with local carrier" in a single step. But I did order mine a day before this deal was posted here, so that may explain why it has arrived a little earlier.

        • @ash2000:
did they send you a tax invoice?

        • +1

          @PissLUR:

No. You have to print that yourself.

  • Mine now showing as "Arrived in Main Hub"
    Expected delivery still 21 March

  • +1

Pretty happy with mine, gave it a good workout over the weekend.

    Good:
The i3 in these wasn't the problem I thought it may be, Win 10 is snappy, pages render quick, no lag
1080 Screen is great for Netflix, totally noticeable difference
Touchscheen is working well, stylus too
    Totally silent laptop
Small 45w power block, easy to carry
Looks pretty apple-ish at first glance

    Bad:
128GB will fill up quick, 107 GB displayed as available - only 80GB after windows/apps install
Battery life could be a bit better, it doesn't report very accurately and goes from 10% to nothing quickly'

This was a total bargain for the money. I am surprised how much I'm using the touchscreen.

    • Yes I agree with Mark about the touch screen, I wasn't really looking for an Ultrabook with a touch screen, but I'm really glad I did get one now.

The i3 6th Gen is super fast … even in battery saver mode there is absolutely no lag. Unless you're doing a lot of video encoding or similar on this laptop(unlikely) paying the significant premium for an i5 or i7 is crazy.

I've already replaced the 128GB with an old 240GB SSD I wasn't using. I just transferred the existing partition to the new drive. Simple. The drive can physically be replaced without voiding your warranty about 5 minutes, all you need is a screw driver. 240GB SSD's can be had for under $100 these days, just make sure it's 7mm or less thick.

Very little bloatware on the system. The only thing new users need to remove is MaAfee.

      • Cool so you were able to upgrade ssd, how about putting Win 10 back on, how did you transfer the original partition from old ssd to new ssd?

        • I just cloned the partitions from the old drive to the new one (connected both ssd's to my desktop computer) and used Acronis software, although there are heaps of freeware apps to do this also. If you had a USB to SATA cable you could do it from the USB port on the inspiron.

Here is the youtube video I used as a guide to remove the physical drive. (note: you dont need to remove the battery to remove the drive).
