I bought this printer some time ago … (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/118828) and it's still going strong. Runs 24/7 on WIFI (with Router: AsusRT68) without any drop outs and used already two $10 replacement toners from China. Gets some mixed reviews but I can recommend it.

    • +1

I have this printer and its been going well, don't buy the $99 toner from Officeworks. I got my toner for around 20 - 25 so if you get it cheaper then let us know what website.

    • what is the quality like, could it print pages from comics or graphic novels ?
can it print a large number of pages at once ?

i had a laser printer years ago and it was pretty dirty and smudging when printing pics

      • +1

This printer is pretty good - you shouldn't get any smudges or streaks from it. It can certainly print multiple pages - paper tray takes around 200-250 pages pages. Time for print is mainly a ratio of the size of the file that is sent via the print spooler (i.e PDFs are often massive when printed - how a 200-300kb 6 page PDF can turn into a 10-15mb monster when printed beats me!?!)

    • Great printer.

I need to update the drivers to see if it works well again.

I've had mine for about 6 moths now…. Great printer…..much faster than expected. Very fast "first page printing" speed. I haven't setup wireless printing as yet, but the unit does not support Apple air printing. The footprint is slightly larger than brother printers because of the protruding paper drawer.

There are some unfavourable reviews out there, I can only assume they haven't updated to the most recent firmware.

    Great price for duplexing printer.

    • +1

Yes, there are some very poor reviews out there:

But gets some good reviews on Whirlpool too:

Product Review is full of complaints though, that's pretty much standard..

@muncan: I have this printer (bought it for $50 OW deal). It has its issues no doubt. Slow to print on wireless and no Airprint support. Other than that it does work quite well and the starter toner is great (1000 pages).

        • @Gavman: Avoid OzBargain…

        • @ryang… yeah… seems to be full of whinges, instead of reviews - all the people nitpicking rather than saying… "I only paid $50 for the printer.. and yes, it doesn't support automatic coffee dispensing… but that is to be espected for the price!!!" I'm not saying the printer doesn't have it's faults - the wireless speed is abysmal (although that is mostly a symptom of themamoth file sizes of PDF files when they print… :shakes head in disgust:), and…. well… that is the only fault I can find after 12+ months of ownership and use… other than that, it is a rock solid printer. And the review page that @muncan linked was just hilarious… definatley seems to be written by "Product Review" fanboys/girls, and ozbargain haters. c'mon… we're all nice people… some of the time, anyway! lol

        • @Gavman:
This was the ow deal you bought
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/189225

        • @muncan: Avoid Oxygen…

    • Yep, I had big problems (on WiFi) before upgrading the FW - works perfectly ever since.

  • Great price for a duplex printer.

  • Excellent printer, very efficient and the chinese toner works well. The auto duplex is an excellent feature - I would recommend to anyone looking for a mono laser.
I have it hooked up into the router via ethernet so can't comment on wifi

    • +1

Its wifi is not great.. takes 30 seconds at least to print first page from my iPhone and even more from my Win 10 PC.

      • 10-15seconds on WiFi for me. Win10 and macbook. I've noticed there's a couple of print drivers PS vs PCL, one is faster but forgot which I chose on installation

        • Is not the best but it works.. the best thing is the toner you get to start with. Seriously get 12 months out of it before having to replace it. Probably worth 59$ in its self.

        • @Gavman:
Well that's entirely based on the amount of content you print, not a time factor :)

        • @DJ:

          Don't spoil the story Dj!

  • Is it citrix printing compatible (real world experience)?

  • I have one for 6 months connected with wifi no complaint. Just this model doesn't support google cloud print or apple air print

  • +2

Mine is still sitting in the box from a previous deal. I only opened the box to get out the USB cable when I couldn't find my other one.

    • +1

classic OzBargainer. I am with you :)

    • +2

I can offer you $39 and you can keep the cable ;)

    • Can I ask what the box is like? The older small Fuji-xerox models had a handle on the top which made it great for people like me who want to print when out at clients etc.

  • +1

what I am really looking for is a all-in-one mono laser printer.

    • I am using Fuji Xerox M225DW and can't complain.

  • Tossing over getting the brother one that was on sale at tgg. But since thisenhas wifi I might get this one.

  • How cheap is this printer to run once you start running out of ink?

    • Dirt cheap if you buy toner from ebay - I bought one of these about a year ago and haven't used up the toner it came with yet (but I guess I don't print a huge amount these days).

Great little unit - fast, low power, duplex.. build is a bit plasticey but you can't complain at this price!

      • I bought one of those canon pixmar printers, the replacement toners are $33 and it only prints 180 pages, what a rip off, time to upgrade i think

    • +1

12 bucks for toner from ebay, shipped from sydney. I don't think you can find a duplex laser printer at that price point anywhere. Got it from the $50 deal last time at officework.

  • I'm still running the older 205b model, still on the original toner!

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/88498

  • I would be concerned about running any laser printer with a Chinese ebay toner. Unlike an ink jet printer, a laser printer is using high temperature chemical reactions. Even using brand name toners, some laser printers release toxic Ozone. Who knows what the cheap toners are releasing.

Also, laser printers don't do well with pictures compared to inkjet printers. It is simply the nature of the printing process.

    • Would you really be printing pictures with this? 📷

      • Some one commented above about it.

  • +3

I purchased this last year from an Officeworks sale, I think it was around $50 at the time. Easily the best $50 I've spent.

  • Quick question to owners, I couldn't specifics online.
    1. Can this take photo copies and or do scanning of documents (color?).
    2. Not strict, would like to know if it will work a Linux OS.

    • +1
      1. No
      2. Yes
      • +1

Tnx, Gotcha. I guess I am after multifunction then.. Any recommendations for under $100 ?

        • +1

If you find one let me know!

  • Purchased a few of these. 2 died on me. 1 was using eBay toners and it smeared everywhere onto the rollers. The second had issues picking up paper from the tray so officeworks gave me a replacement. 3rd unit is running well over the network.

    • Did you use ebay toner on all 3 units?

      • Yes. One of the toner popped and leaked black toner everywhere. I sent a photo to the seller and he sent a replacement which was fine.

        • Thank you.

    • Mine also had a problem grabbing paper but I jiggled the tray around and it hasn't happened since.

  • Can vouch for this printer, very good value at $59!

  • I've had one for a few years now, absolutely love it. A no brainer if you're after a mono printer

  • I have this printer and officeworks a while ago. It is great value and duplexes automatically. I got it setup to airprint as well, however requires extra hardware.

  • +1

Got my toner here - 10 or 11 bucks each.
Arrived in 2 or 3 days from NSW, work fine.

  • How come the toner cartridge is so small?

    • It's what you do with it that counts. (I mean printing a lot of pages, as it does do.)

      • My Brother toner is supposed to print 6000 pages, I guess 2500 pages is actually pretty good for such a tiny cartridge.

        • I get my Brother toner from my brother Tony.

    • The cartridge only contains toner. It doesn't have rollers like some other brands.

  • can anyone suggest good (under $100) multi function printer/Scanner ..thx

  • Is this good for people who don't print often? Few times a year etc.

    • Yes, unlike ink jet, the toner in a laser printer doesn't dry up.

  • I bought mine at $50 over a year ago from officeworks. Works flawlessly on wireless but was hard to set up. Still on original toner

  • Cheers just ordered one for local pickup, my Canon Pixmar just doesn't cut it for efficiency.

  • Missed out on the colour version last week

    you talking about this one?

    • +1

That's the one. My wife said we didn't need it and then after they'd sold out complained about our current printer again! Can't win. :-(

      • LOL! God damn wife-vetos eh

      • +1

I missed out on that one too……I showed a rare moment of personal restraint, and when the restrain evaporated, it had sold out. The last thing I needed was a giant colour printer, but can't help but feel a little disappointed a few days on!

  • I swear I saw this for $39 at Officworks Alexandria on the weekend.

  • I like this printer got it last time

  • You are right captain smash. I saw one for $39 on OfficeWorks site as well last month or so.

  • OW have FX P115W - wireless mono laser printer for same $59
    Probably not Duplex printing.

    http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/fuji-xerox-…

    • Correct: no duplex.

  • +1

Seems to be sold out. Anyone know where else i can buy this?

  • +1

For a similar Fuji Xerox…Best printer ever (the same model family but is colour :DocuPrint CP215 w).

Been using for 14 months and am STILL on the original toner sets. And I have printed 337 colour and 118 mono (web status page). Still showing 60% left on all toners.

Never had a jam ever, never any faults, always wakes from sleep mode, easy to set up, cheap to run. Wireless works flawlessly and the web-based setup makes this even easier to configure.

Despite humid days, cold winters or hot days, it has accepted all paper flawlessly.

    Android app works fine.

Highly recommend. Next printer will be a Fuji too.

  • This is a great price but honestly I've had nothing but trouble with this printer. Wifi drops out and I cannot print most of the time as im plagued with error messages.

    • Have you got the latest firmware?

  • Correct please don't buy this printer , bad printer
Quality is bad and wifi bad and smell bad

    • Printer is good value.
      Quality is fine.
WiFi is fine (on latest firmware.)
      Take a shower.

      • Haha yes good value , I was talking about my experience .
I updated to the latest firmware did nothing to the wifi.
There is a reason for this printer to be cheap .i have returned the printer and very happy with my HP officejet .

        • Maybe it isn't playing nice with your router? Wifi probs…distance, brick walls?

  • The deals is not exist anymore. Price is 89$,damn! Too late

  • I don't have experience in this model but I have used PE220 and currently Docuprint M215b both with Scan, Copy and Print, PE220 had fax function as well. PE220 served me well for over 5 years until lightning fried the circuit board. Pickup rollers rubber aged over the years and can't pick up papers at times. My Docuprint M215b is coming to 2 years old, very happy with it.
