        • +2

Ink is not free, but it is ink free.

  • If it comes with Blank and colour starter toner its a great deal otherwise not so much. anyone confirm?

      • +6

inkstation ís ripoff, generic Fuji Xerox toner normally quite affordable, MSY sell some toner for B&W models around $20

        • +1

          so cheap toners will work

        • +10

          @brian23309:

Is that is a question, or a statement?

        • @llama:
          Question.
So cheap toners from eBay is it any good.

        • @brian23309:

So cheap toners from eBay is it any good?

You mean the printer or the toner?

Generic toner from eBay might be good or it might be crap. Genuine toner from eBay will be as good as genuine toner from elsewhere.

In any case, this is a CHEAPO laser printer, so what's your definition of "good"?

No matter what, printing stuff in colour is expensive. I find it far cheaper to print mine at work, or pay per page at a duplication shop or place like Officeworks.

  • +3

ebay replacement toner prices are good $60+ish for all 4 CMYK, replacement drums $30+ish.

    Thanks OP, bought two :-)

  • so, just to confirm, does the printer come with the toner cartridges, or is it printer only

    • Yes. 500 page only

      • +2

Awesome 500 pages will last me a lifetime considering I print most stuff at work

  • In my experience they always come with starter toner

  • +3

    From- http://www.fujixeroxprinters.com.au/downloads/uploaded/Produ…

115 series: Printer is shipped with one standard toner yield 500 pages (Black,Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) toner.

    The consumables are usually-

Black toner cartridge (up to 2,000 pages) CT202264
Cyan toner cartridge (up to 1,400 pages) CT202265

So basically it comes with around 1/4 of a normal ink cartridge.

  • any reviews? seems very cheap for a branded colour laser printer even with a starter cartridge.

    • +1

I have the older, non-wireless CP205, which is much the same. Great quality colour printing and I've been more than happy with it. It also hasn't spat the dummy at no-name toner refils.

    • +1

I have the cp105b (an earlier non-network model) and it's great.

  • Thanks op.

Bought one. 500 page starter toner isn't too bad.
Office works sell the mono version of this printer for the same price

  • Thanks, was just thinking i need a wireless printer!

  • What is the advantage of laser printer over $20-$30 inkjet printers which also come with 500 pages worth of ink?

    • cheaper toner (70$ for 2000 pages) after starter cartridge ends, and I never managed to get 500 pages from ink, it dries out before that as I do not print much, and laser toner is already dry :)

      • Apologies for newbie question. Does that mean laser cartridges does not dry soon. I too do not print often and is thinking of buying it if it is true.

        • +2

I have laser toner and never dry. With the inn, everytime you turn on the printer, it will use some of the ink, thus, it is wasting the ink. Try to just turn on and then let it go for a minute then turn off. Do this daily, you will notice that the ink will be empty soon enough even though you never use it for printing. But for laser, it is different. It doesn't 'spit' out the ink just by turning on the printer. Hope that helps.

        • @yht:

          Thanks buddy

        • Laser = toner = powder

        • @amsaini15: from a business perspective other than money, laser is used because if the pages get wet they do not run. Ink runs when it gets wet.

    • +5

$20-$30 inkjet printers which also come with 500 pages worth of ink?

500 pages worth of ink? Have you been sniffing glue from my office drawer again?

Most ink cartridges that are compatible with a domestic use inkjet printer are rated for no more than 220 pages of ink and that's with only 5% coverage of the page. The most generous I have seen is around 300 pages… the reality though is that most of the stuff dries up before you get around to using the full yield.

  • The reviews I've just read indicate problems with setup of WiFi. A static IP address is recommended for the printer. Initial setup up by USB then Network then WiFi. Might have improved since the reviews were posted…(unlikely)

  • Doesn't come with a scanner built in I assume?

    • obviously

    • No. The cm115w does but the cp115w doesn't.

  • Great price. Bought one… Thanks OP

  • I work in an office and only need a printer at home maybe once a month if I forget to print at work/need something urgent.

Is it worth buying this or should I just get some POS inkjet that I see pop up on OzB ever know and then?

    Cheers

    • +2

inkjets don't fair well when not used regularly.

      • Thanks sounds like cheap laser (I.e. this deal) is the go then.

    • maybe once a month if I forget to print at work/need something urgent.

You should get a cheap laser. There are lasers that are even cheaper than this printer — but without any wireless networking, they only print and that's it.

      • Cheaper Colour Laser?

        • +1

Won't matter if the boss is colourblind.

        • @scrimshaw: Should have mentioned this is all about me printing my personal tickets/receipts/random crap…
I'm just an ozbargainer and have avoided buying a printer.
Which almost burnt me recently when I forgot to print a festival ticket!

        • Ricoh SPC250DN. $95 delivered. Auto Duplex. PCL6 & PS3. Ethernet, WL & USB. Starter toners 1000 pages per colour. Had been posted before and now appears to be an everyday price.

          Warning: Replacement toners are expensive.

  • Can this printer print with black cartridge only if not printing color?

    • +1

Yes, the print options in Windows (can't speak for other systems) allow you to choose mono only.

  • Bought one… Thanks OP

  • For Linux users: The User Guide references RedHat, Ubuntu and Generic Cups Drivers, yet none are provided on the site, despite this the Xerox Printers are really just re-branded Brother printers and Whirlpool users have confirmed success using Brother Cups drivers.

    REF: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2495668

  • The user manual - http://content.etilize.com/User-Manual/1031735627.pdf - suggests that it even supports RHEL6, SLES11, Ubuntu12 linux; however it also says "Page Description Language Host-based", will see how it goes…

    • This will be a first, selling new printer without any ink or toner. Just like saying selling a car without oil, fluid and a bot of petrol.

      • +1

Yeah, we'll wait and see how accurate that reply was when the printer actually arrives.

        • Hope they meant toners in separate boxes.

  • Has anyone got their printer yet?

  • Not yet, but you need to give it some time. Mine has been sent out last friday.

    • my printer arrived today.

      • And ….

        • … i'm assuming it comes with the toner installed as the quick start guide doesn't mention anything about installing a toner. Haven't unpacked the printer yet.

It also comes with a USB cable (unusual for printers these days) as well as 3 power cables (UK, AUS, US?).

Printer is pretty heavy and bulky compared to some of the cheap inkjets that i own.

    • Mine just arrived today :)

  • +2

Arrived, heavy, toner preinstalled (Assume starter)(A870,A871,A872,A873), working, thanks MAQ(OP)

    • What was it sent by?

      • Australia post eparcel

  • It's quite noisy and takes a while to start printing, but the results are very good.

  • Just got it set up, lovely printer, much better than my previous ink jet by far. I don't find it noisy at all, and quick to print. Great buy.

  • +1

I received this today in WA. Still to set it all up but really excited to unpack it tonight, especially after the above comment from Rality.

  • Got mine today (Brisbane). Downloaded the latest software/drivers from Fuji Xerox and installed. Windows Defender discovered a severe trojan virus. Trojan:Win32/Varpes.J!plock Be careful people.
