        • Talking about RRP, no pre-order prices. By the sounds of things the Mi5 will be leagues ahead of G4. It will be a smaller screen though so if that's something of concern then it could sway you. But we are talking about a top tier 2015 smartphone to a top tier 2016 smartphone, and there's a few nice upgrades in it for either the same price, or a little more.

Micro sd, well it has 128gb build it, so prob don't need micro sd.
          Band support is true.
Screen is meant to be really great, most hands on reviews have said it's the best looking 5" screen they have seen.
Replaceable battery could be nice for some, but I prefer quick charge as I never use my 2nd battery for my Note 4 these days as chucking it on charge for 15 mins gives me nearly 40% top up.

How much did you pay for your G4?

        • @OnlinePred:

~$425 after cash rewards like many ozbargainers.

I wouldn't buy a last gen phone now. Though this phone does seem to have a few compromises and doesn't appear to be any better in some areas over last gen phones.

          @Ronnnie: Please explain compromises.

    • $354USD is the base model, not this Pro model with the 820 SoC.

      • Base model is $300usd. The non pro with 820 SOC and 3gb RAM and 32gb ROM is $354usd.

Anyone know what the SAR rating is on this? I've looked at a few Xiaomi phones and they tend to not disclose their SAR rating on phone sites like gsmarena. I know they're still under the safe limit, but taking a look at some Samsungs and LGs, their phones have a rating lower than 1 w/kg. Just want to know if this would be the same.

Buying this is the same like buying Samsung s7 with a very bad after sales and warranty. I wouldn't risk 700$AU++ for Xiaomi brand, even if it has greater specs than Samsung or Apple

    • I wouldn't risk it on a Samsung. True i wouldnt pay this increased pre sales amount but still at least $500 cheaper than s7 equiv.

  • Is there any info on if this has usb 2.0, 3.0 or 3.1 on the type c plug?

  • -Misread deleted.

  • massive PASS on $736 and an unknown wait, the chinese market don't even have the 128GB pro version available yet… highway robbery, not a bargain..

i'll grab this phone when the pro's actually out and a bit closer to $600, these middle-men are taking the piss so much at this price…. given the phone should only cost around $560AUD….

    • You'll never get the phone at same price as China unless you actually go there or get a Taobao seller to ship it to you.

      • +1

Yeh of course. But this is $170 over retail. A chinese retail price also includes 17% tax to give you an idea of how cheap this phone really should is for xiaomi to sell. It'll be in India within a month reportedly, so their retail price will be interesting..

The phone is stupid at this price, because you may as well pay that little bit more for something better and non grey-market like a G5 or S7. It will be cheaper, people need to relax and not feed the middle-men.

        Do not feed the middle-men!

        • You're right. As with all Xiaomi products, this will be much cheaper and closer to China's RRP near release.

  • Dropped to $709.80.

Combine with a coupon and Cashrewards and we're getting there slowly…

    • Slow indeed. Once stock picks up it should drop but it seems that there is not much available.

  • Pre-orders open at banggood at $688.37

I'm waiting a few more days for the huawei p9 release before i pull the trigger
