Starts Wednesday also it is Coles my mistake
GsmArena.com has an: Alcatel Pixi 3 (4.5)
more expensive but most importantly you missed out on the 20$ google credit
More expensive than what?
$20 of Google credit is worth as little as $3.33.
it was 29$ before with the google credit
When? I think you might be thinking of the much lower Alcatel Pixi 3 4.0".
@bio:
Apologies, I forgot about that deal.
How do you get it for 1/6th of the face value?
1/3rd I understand?
I can confirm this is on Page 36 of the Catalogue. I'm not sure if we are allowed to post it.
The Pixi isn't really 50% off as it is only $49.90 at Optus.
I just bought one of these for an AirBNB guest. What they don't tell you is that it's a mission to unlock them.
Anyone got a site they recommend that makes it easy?
you mean $1.50 over ebay?
You are my hero. Geez, I tried a number of different sites last night…. didn't think of eBay.
Bought one of these as a spare phone in the last sale (was effectively $9 after the $20 Play Store voucher). Great little phone, and surprisingly responsive for the money.
An unlock code from eBay for <$2 works perfectly, and will save you heaps of time stuffing around doing it yourself.
@ash2000: Yep, using it for travel. Thanks for the endorsement. I was wondering if I should purchase this slightly better one for the better camera, but it's really not worth it. A phone is a phone. If I want pics, I can use the camera
I haven't tested the camera, (I guessing it would be basic) but I suspect you'll need to spend significantly more to get a good camera!
Check that it can actually be unlocked (from users who've done it). Plenty of ebay sites say they can unlock specific phones but when it comes to it, can't. Had this experience on a telstra locked phone a few months back.
@redcreek200: Yeah, @Balls was right. I got the code off eBay for $2 and it worked
Hmmm if it's nots too much of a hassle could you elaborate on this—->
I just bought one of these for an AirBNB guest
Are you a guest who preinspects properties?
Or
Are you a airBnB owner who will hand out these as gifts?
Or
Did a guest request you to purchase one? Thanks

4 GB, 512 MB RAM
4 GB, 1 GB RAM (3G LATAM model)(source: http://www.gsmarena.com/alcatel_pixi_3_(4_5)-6934.php )
So is it the 512MB RAM model because I find Android with 512MB RAM just about unuseable for anything other than phone/sms - you should not buy a 512MB device if you intend on using any apps IMO. Not that your gonna fit many in the … 1GB (?) left after the OS has had it's storage.
Not slow - unuseable.
1GB RAM on the other hand is fine IME.

Is the wifi modem a USB stick?
I need a few cheap USB modems (or one that works on all networks).buy the vodafone ones for $9, they are usually network unlocked.

Hi, Just bought this yesterday and been testing it out.
My impression is that it is an up to date modern nice looking phone, keeping in mind the price of course. Most things on it work pretty well, except the GPS. I use a Huawei Y550 generally and the Pixi is a tiny bit smaller and lighter as well as better looking. The Pixi is a millimeter smaller in screen but a few in bezel, so it's a good tradeoff.
The only problems I've seen are the GPS is very slow to turn on/off which made Google maps was unusable. Also had an issue with not being able to connect to a wifi hotspot although was able to connect to another hotspot and other phone was able to connect to it. That was fixed by resetting the router though ..
All in all, well worth it for 35 bucks!
I got one, it's good for the price. My biggest gripe is the touch screen. It's not very responsive and ruins the experience
Does anyone else have problems swipe typing on this phone?
Replaced mine, I just showed them it didn't swipe properly and the new one works fine.
Take yours back if your screen doesn't work.
I think many must have got this bargain!
How is the battery life, esp for videos and web?
Has anyone tried the Antutu 3DBench?
there is no such thing on the website
